  1. Excellent thread. I'm always on the hunt for good socks.
  2. I agree too. I was directing my statement at the guy quoting it.
  3. The over opinionated high white horse riding, britches up to their nipples anti crossbow guys on this site are the very reason hunting is in the declining state its in. You guys are worse than knee high sock wearing country club members who judge people by the amount of money they spend on their golf shoes or what they have parked out in the lot. I've seen this idiot crossbow argument and political arguments reduce membership in my gun club to 1/4 of what it was twenty-five years ago. I rarely go to meetings anymore and the several young members incl my son and friends I've gotten to join don't even go at all any more. Last meeting I attended was a bunch of bitter old men complaining about Hillary Clinton all night. I remember the days when we used to talk hunting, organize drives for deer, and talk for hours about guns, reloading, stands etc.
  4. I'm fine. Your the one who sounds a bit constipated
  5. Son you know nothing about me and that's the way I like it.
  6. Uhm I'm old enough to remember you guys taking over recurve and long bow season in the 1970s and 80s. Get off your high horse already
  7. Do you realize how twisted you sound
  8. Your long winded posts are meaningless
  9. Good info here. My vest is an old Gander Mountain one which I love but the seat cushion is lacking. I'll be ordering one today as it looks like I'll be on the move looking for them this season instead of sitting in my blinds. Have to adjust with the times I guess
  10. They look like Steuben or Suffolk County bucks if they were bagged in NYS
  11. When heading in the morning where you know birds are roosting don't use a light of any kind. If it's too dark to see wait till it lightens slightly just enough to see , sneek in and sit. Turkeys on the roost will see you but may think your a deer. If you go in with a light they will head in the opposite direction for sure when they come down
  12. Happiest day of my life was when I had my in ground pool filled in with 100 plus yds of fill. Like it was never there now, LMAO!
  13. Hunter numbers aren't what they used to be. The Orange Army from Long Island has shrunk drastically. Local hunter flop houses around here cater to hikers and leaf peepers now. I remember seeing nothing but orange coats and pickups, now I think you'd feel outta place with a blaze orange coat and a rifle amongst hiking boot hotties and their man friends who drive Beemers in any of these Bed n Breakfast places
  14. Finding morels is a challenge around here. But summer shrooms were a bonanza last year. My wife got me into this crazyness. Nothing like it
  15. I go with this. I get the flu shot every year because I just don't have time in my life to being down for a week or longer preventing me from doing the things I love now that I'm retired. Couldn't imagine getting Covid and not being able to Turkey hunt because I'm coughing my lungs up in my blind or getting winded walking hills. I'm going on 65 and time is suddenly becoming much more valuable to me
  16. If this plague was like the one we had in 1918 which affected people with healthy immune systems aged 18 to 35 makes you wonder how different peoples opinions on getting vaccinated would be
  17. If your over 60 your rolling the dice by not getting vaccinated. If your over 50 and have high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, cancer survivor, obese, your just plain nuts not getting vaccinated
  18. I hope we didn't scare Lubber off with an overabundance of Turkey information, lol..
  19. Get the shot. I know of several people who've had the virus and were in good physical condition and are still suffering the effects almost a year later not to mention the initial illness which can knock a healthy person on their ass for weeks. The vaccine is nothing new and has been in development since the SARS outbreaks decades ago. And NO, Bill Gates is not planting a microchip into each and every dose of the vaccine.
  20. More than one occasion where I've come in at 9am after calling for distant toms who pretty much paid no mind only to hear them gobbling away 100yds out my door after I was back in with my gear off hours later. A couple of times I dropped what I was doing oil up to my elbows doing tractor maintenance to grab my gun and camo t-shirt and shuffle back into the woods and blast one. They will put you on a waiting list after they're done with what's right in front of them
  21. Blackbelt is on with his numbers in Orange etc according to DEC reports. I actually saw 3 hens cruising thru a field behind one of my outbuildings this AM. I'll be out with coffee sitting on a stump tomorrow as the sky lightens with my ears open.
