Haha! No need for apologies, I was just thrilled at the prospect of leaning about a new huntNY ritual

Thanks, not to get sappy but I think you’re great people too. Since joining the forum I’ve been accused of being or having been several different people. Not sure what fuels those suspicions but there’s gotta be a diagnosis somewhere in there...

How’d you resolve the target panic? I don’t have it yet but I use a wrist strap trigger release and it’s hard to find an article on archery that doesn’t claim that target panic is inevitable with this type of release…

Sunday’s final shots of the day. 60 yards.

The WNY crew shook and then washed @left field’s hand? Was his hand dirty from shaking or was it washed out of a show of respect? Did you each take turns washing his hand or was it a communal act, each focusing on one finger simultaneously? A secular maundy, perhaps?

If you’re gonna put it in a lockbox, get the one made for the Reveal X. Don’t get the one that’s compatible with both the X and the forthcoming SK.

I too live in Manhattan. I take my gun down the elevator in its case, locked. Not a big deal. Anyone who’s ever inquired about it is usually thrilled to learn about hunting. I even have a few colleagues taking their hunter’s safety. It’s not so bad over here. Incredibly diverse. Few of the locals are actually local. Almost everyone was born outside the city, many far away. This means that the idea of hunting, though not commonplace in urban bubbles, is not totally foreign. With the locavore movement spurring desire in urbanites to become more conscious of the origin of their food sources, now is a great time for us hunters to capitalize and work to recruit new folks into hunting. Connecticut is great but they wiped out all their grouse!

Good. All the fancy, ultra-light, $150 per stick, have been out of stock for some time so it makes the hawk helium stick decision easy. Unless they suck…
-
The hawk helium sticks? What didn’t you like about them and what alternative sticks did you settle on?
-
For sticks I’m thinking the Hawk Helium. I was looking at the wild edge steps but I think the sticks would be a faster setup.

You guys are finally off the grapefruit juice…

I’m leaning towards purchasing the phantom starter kit. I’ve only ever used ladder stands and ground blinds so with the saddle I’ll be purchasing climbing sticks as well. I agree, the cost adds up quickly but this seems like the way to go (compared to a lone wolf hang on). It appears that a saddle is lighter, more comfortable, quicker to use, and maybe safer. In contrasting between the 8mm and 11mm ropes, I was wondering whether there’s any advantage to the thicker rope. If not, 8mm would seem like the best option.

The fantasy of acting like the Taliban is your best argument for guns? …Recall that the Afghan army was trained and heavily armed and didn’t put up a fight. You think you would’ve done more with your AR? -
Tough? No, not at all. The backstrap melted in your mouth. A shoulder cut has a lot of connective tissue so it’s very well suited for a slow braise. I’ll say that axis deer is as good as the best whitetail I’ve had, but not better. (To be clear, there isn’t much that beats the best whitetail I’ve had)

Starting with the very first sentence you can tell that your article is suspect. That’s not how science works. If someone’s about to die, sure, authorize what you will as a last ditch effort to save them. Perhaps the drug will rescue them. Perhaps they’ll die. Or maybe they weren’t going to die and hopefully the drug won’t interfere with recovery. There are clinical trials underway to test the efficacy of this drug and others. Let’s see how they play out before offering miracle cures that lure desperate fools into taking animal meds or idiot doctors into prescribing them. -
Here’s my Hawaii axis deer blade roast for @SportsmanNH Pics of raw cut, browning, and deglazing.

This is a tragic exploitation of the ignorant. Don’t take ivermectin. https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/26/us/covid-ivermectin-arkansas-doctor/index.html https://www.foxnews.com/health/fda-warns-against-ivermectin-covid-treatment -
You’re missing out! Neck and shoulder are delicious. A slow, low temp braise will dissolve all that connective tissue while keeping the meat moist and flavorful. Even better if you go bone-in and save on the deboning work. I’m making an axis deer blade roast (bone-in shoulder) tonight.

Was getting ready to put a system together when I come across the option of upgrading to the 8mm rope on their starter kits. Do little bit of reading and learn that it seems like this is a good move for reading bulk and weight. Then I come across the pissed off people who upgraded but found that their Ropeman1 was not compatible with 8mm rope. I ask myself, wth is a Ropeman1 and why is the 8mm compatible Ropeman2 not on the website? Man, I can see the appeal to this infinitely customizable system but how does one get started?

If this is a competitive scholarships, I’d be surprised that someone would jump through all the hoops of the application process (essays, soliciting letters of recommendation, etc), not to mention have worked consistently hard enough to meet the qualifications to win the award, and then overlook a request to send the donor a letter. I’d bet that the envelope you mentioned was only there in year 1. Unfortunately if the scholarship committee fails to detail the background of the award it just becomes faceless name associated with the prize. I wouldn’t take it personal. Inquire with the scholarship office on whether the awardees continue to be advised to write a thank you letter if this is something that is important to you. I’m certain that the recipient would be all too happy to do so if offered the opportunity.

8mm vs 11mm ropes? Any suggestions?
