Here is the only tip I could give you. Forget those areas, there are only a few and they are over run with hunters. If you are from westchester then you must have some friends and family where you could hunt. Get on the computer ( google earth) and look at all the possible locations you might be able to hunt. You might find that somebody you know borders a protected sanctuary. You probably could find a honey hole that would make alot of hunters envious.

I was not aware that there was any state land at all in westchester county. If you tell us the name that would help out giving you tips....... Your probably talking about DEP property.

I will not hunt a stand if the wind is not right. I sometimes can only hunt my best stand 2-3 times a year. Wind is never right there. I tried to go once because I was itching to get in there and I watched a giant buck wind me 400 yds away........

antler restrictions work-------- ask anybody who has them now the deer are bigger. It is common sense, if you let a deer live another year or two then there is a great chance the horns will be bigger. DuH

Nice buck and there are still some great bucks there but I could guarantee you this, where ever you got that buck It was 10x better 20 years ago.............

Westchester in the mid 90s was incredible. Then all the articles about how great it was( every gun hunter from area picked up a bow) coupled with everything else that was mentioned it has been getting worse every year. I still have some good spots but can not take all the BS that goes with it ( trespassing , stolen stands etc etc) so I stay away. There are still some giants running around but nothing like it was.

It is the same time every year. Peak between nov 7th to late teens. daytime activity depends on temps....... If nov 3rd is 20 - 35 degrees and nov 13th (best day of year give or take couple of days in my opinion) is 40 to 60 degrees and I have one day to hunt I am picking nov 3rd.

If it is not happening on my property I am not getting involved.

I work outside and on roofs so I am probably in minority. I will take the cold over the extreme heat. Anything over 85 I can not handle for long periods of time anymore.

Figure out how to use it to your advantage. Last thing you wanna do is piss off your neighbor over a salt lick because if your dec officer is some clown now that decides he is gonna walk in the woods every day at 730 am to see if this guy is hunting over feed. Trust me if I was him I would figure out a way to piss you off. Leave it alone

Just about anything works on licking branch for pictures or nighttime activity but getting a mature buck to visit during daytime while your in a tree 20 yds away is another question........

There is nothing you could do about it. Let nature take its course or you could make things worse. Let him over at the house so you could get to know him better. It will make things easier on everyone.......

10 years ago I was out on opening day of bow in morning just as sun came up I heard a gun shot on the property line about 400 yds away. Make a long story short I kinda know who it was and I called DEC on them. I waited around for them and nothing. i was not even anonymous gave them my information too. They never came. 2 hours later these humps were at the cumberland farms parking lot with big buck in the back of truck. DEC never even came out there. I called again and they said " they are looking into it and that they got bombarded with the same type of complaint that morning" But i got them boarding my boat looking to see if I have my free marine license on me. There a friggin joke
