I think my 27 year of hunting and research has made me very knowledgeable on deer. I think those who take what they are doing seriously can become experts if they really apply themselves in a relatively short period like 10 years. Most "experts" I know are very passionate in their particular field and have a proven track record but that is not usually what makes them an expert. Becoming an Expert IMHO comes over time from passion to learn, experience, trial and error, a proven track record along with an in depth knowledge of the subject. We have some experts on this site, many of them have more than 30 year experience and really do not need to be mentioned by name, their in depth knowledge and post usually prove they are "experts" on hunting. Expert and elite are sometimes just a tag given to those with much more knowledge then those of us who are "knowledgeable".

With that amount of bandwidth you will slow down anytime someone is using the internet and streaming or using some other type of large bandwidth service. I would double check that speed test with another computer to be sure and or another line. Then if that computer does the same thing, you verified it is not just your computer that is slow. If you have a separate router that you installed I would try connecting only one computer to it or just one to the router they provided and see if your test results are the same. If you are using wireless that can be an issue. Connect with a internet wire and retest. Wireless speeds for most newer computers is a G standard at 54Mbps or N standard at up to 300Mbps. Any G device in the network will unfortunately result in the router using that speed for all devices. EX: If you have 4 devices using the N standard and one using the G most speeds will be 54Mbps or slower vs all 5 N standard transmitting up to 300Mbps. LAN devices usually transmit at 10Mbps 100Mbps or 1 Gbps. If you have access to the router interface you can do other tests with the router to verify it is not your computer but not all ISP's allow this. That is where the phone call to them helps out as they can test the speed. Keep us informed on your progress, hope you get it resolved!

I had a few opportunities but the one shot I did take was not recovered. Funny I did not get anything because I was also on a deer management program in July-Sept. But I have to admit I had fun and enjoyed the hunts. Next year I plan on hunting some areas with higher population to keep my enthusiasm up.

Your numbers are low. I would check with them and see what they say. Explain the speed you are getting vs what they advertise. Otherwise you are on the right track with finding the issue. Does not seem to be a connection issue but a speed issue.

PS: Do a disk clean up, many people forget this needs to be done periodically. Open my computer or Computer, Right click on C: Drive and click properties. Then click disk clean up. CLick on tools, check now, then check off all boxes and say yes when prompted. CLick defrag and check to see if it is needed. After clean up defrag then do a complete disk check by restarting computer. When the computer reboots do not touch any keys and it will test and try to repair any errors on the Hard drive.

The other thing to help would be to call the provider when you have the issue. Then they can test from their end and tell IF something is wrong. I always explain this to my agents that you need to document this info with them. They can not fix something if they are not aware it is broken... IF they say everything is OK then it is on your end more than likely you have some form of spyware, virus, Trojan or possible malware. Then try that download.com site or if you want to try another free antivirus scan try this. http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx This is from Microsoft and does not install a resident program and works ok but not as good as the Malwarebytes.

On Windows click on the run command and type in CMD press enter to bring up a DOS prompt. Then type in these commands. (You can ping any web site that is pingable.) ping www.yahoo.com ping www.yahoo.com /t will ping until you hit Ctrl + Brake to keep it going and see results Ctrl + c will stop it from running and give the results. Loosing a few packets over a few hours is not out of the ordinary but you should not see that many, less than 20 with no long durations in between.
-
Try doing a ping test, that will tell you if you are losing connection. Otherwise 90% of the time I find it is due to the customers computer being infected by viruses, spyware of some other type of infection. Try downloading Malwarebytes from http://download.cnet.com/windows/ it is on the right side of the page and is the 15th most popular download. If you do not want this to run all the time because you already have antivirus then uncheck the box that says enable free 30 day trial. Otherwise just keep clicking next until it is done installing, make sure you update before scanning. After you scan, remove all threats and see if you are working better. Good luck. If you really need help I can take control of your computer and do this for you but try yourself and let me know if you need more help.

I thought I was finished lol nope. After cleaning up this morning, it changed over to freezing rain and then snow. So I have a sheet of ice on the driveway with another 2 inches and falling and it is snowing hard now. Going to be very icy on LI tomorrow morning with this cold. WoW mother nature is putting the smack down on NY!

Nice pics chief!

We only have a few inches on the Island where I am but it is wet and now starting to freeze. Shoveled out this morning and it was heavy! Hope the power stays on as the wires are starting to freeze over. Stay safe everyone!

Well the extension of bow hunting on LI into January is done. I think I am finally warming up from yesterdays hunt, WOW was that cold! I can't say I hit the woods very hard because most of my hunting grounds where shotgun only in January and a couple of colds kicked my but. I was able to get 2 more days in a spot with a 160+ class buck roaming the area but never got a shot at him. I jumped 3 deer heading in yesterday and had one doe at 15 yards two weeks before but was not able to get a ethical shot off as she was on the move and caught me by surprise before I was set up. I am thankful for a fun season and that it is finally over! This season kicked my but!!! That guy Murphy and his laws showed his face a few times too many. I hunted Otis Pike most of the bow season because it has very few deer in it like up North in the ADK. Rocky point the few times I hunted it showed a vast difference in population vs Otis Pike and I think I will hunt that area more next year as it seems to need population control. The private land I hunted was great with many sightings, wish I could hunt that area more but I am only a guest. Hope everyone had a great season! Personally I am happy its over as I burned the candle on both ends. Almost makes me want to jump on the (Shorten the season.) bandwagon but I enjoy being out too much for that. Ok time to go shoot the bow, then get ready for another snow storm.

I have a plain old cotton thin outer layer for snow camo and a reversible cotton suit with snow camo that is ok if NO rain is present the suit is really warm but does not wick moister it collects it, lol. I love snow camo, in the sun deer seem to have a very hard time seeing well. The thin outer layer of cotton camo works well when I hike but I need a few extra layers for when I sit and post. This is close to what I use, I don't see them available any more. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Clothing/Mens-Hunting-Clothing/Mens-Hunting-Cold-Weather-Camo-Clothing/Mens-Cold-Weather-Camo-Cover-Suits%7C/pc/104797080/c/104748480/sc/104274180/i/104050080/Cabelas-Lightweight-Coverup-Pants/724999.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fmens-cold-weather-camo-cover-suits%2F_%2FN-1100963%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104050080%3FWTz_l%3Dundefined%253Bcat104748480&WTz_l=undefined%3Bcat104748480%3Bcat104050080 http://www.cabelas.com/product/Clothing/Mens-Hunting-Clothing/Mens-Hunting-Cold-Weather-Camo-Clothing/Mens-Cold-Weather-Camo-Cover-Suits%7C/pc/104797080/c/104748480/sc/104274180/i/104050080/Cabelas-Lightweight-Coverup-Parka/724998.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fmens-cold-weather-camo-cover-suits%2F_%2FN-1100963%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104050080%3FWTz_l%3Dundefined%253Bcat104748480&WTz_l=undefined%3Bcat104748480%3Bcat104050080 This is what the suit looks like, I think my buddy Shawn is wearing it. I am the really good looking bald guy, lol sounds like an oxymoron. Shut up you! The first pic is my first buck in 2000. The second is Sniper Tom, Murry, Jason, me and Shawn just before we did a drive and missed a big buck.

With that much food I understand why they frequent the area!
-
That last pic looks like a big deer! Wow! They sure look healthy for the winter we are having.

Hope everything turns out for the best! Good luck! Shame how reporting has been watered down, sign of the times I guess.

Humans! We wipe out, decimate and pollute more on this planet than any animal. Then comes rats and mice.

Happy B-Day!

Hard to make a bow for a older short person fit a big strong guy. You will be much more happy with a bow that is set up to fit you. You will have better success with a new bow that is set for your draw length and weight, good luck!
