What it means is if you’re not NY resident you won’t get a DMP. You do know you don’t have to live in WMU to apply for a dmp you can apply for any unit.

So what your saying is about 40 of the deer tested positive well you only need 1 deer to test positive. That may or may not be right but in Wisconsin it’s over 30% in the CWD area. It’s all ways fatal there is no doubt of that

I found this on a deer farm in Iowa The Iowa Whitetail Deer Association, which is an advocacy group for deer farming (it is a big business, after all) touts a variety of “deer farming facts” on its website, including that some states, like Virginia and Maryland, don’t have deer farms, but have had confirmed CWD cases in their wild herds. The page cites the North American Deer Farmer's Association as the source for most of these facts. The page, which was updated in March of 2013, also prominently says “There has never been a ‘Farmed Deer’ in Iowa die of CWD.” Maybe not. But you can bet the 284 of the 356 animals in that captive herd mentioned above would have died had they not been killed first. The disease, as we've said, is always fatal. I think it's time we hunters amp up our conversations about the captive deer industry. Look, I run my own business, which includes contract work for Realtree. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone more pro-capitalism than me. But the captive cervid industry is posing a threat to wild deer on a level we still don't completely understand. Some of the implications are catastrophic. And all for an industry that exists so that giant bucks can be grown on a farm, released into a pen, and shot by whoever pays the most money.

Bands/singers you tend to turn volume up on radio
Larry replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
I have a bunch of bands I turn the volume up for so here they are but not in any order. BTO, Seager, Boston, Skinner, Fleetwood Mac, Molly Hachette. -
When I did a lot of woodchuck hunting I bought a savage 22mag bolt gun to use on chucks when the grass got too high to shoot my 22-250. I did not like the 22mag on chucks I was killing more with my 22lr than with the mag. so I up graded to a 22 hornet. I do have a 17 hmr and have kill critters up to the size of coyotes all 1 shot kills. As for the 17 being a 200yd weapon I would keep it south of 125yds just because on paper it may be a 200 yarder it doesn’t mean it is in real life hunting.

Its funny how there tune changes when you call their bluff. How I like messing with people like that

I had a guy on the second last Saturday of the gun season in one of my tree stands try to kick me off the property I hunt on. He told me he and his buddy had permission to hunt there. So I said that’s funny seeing I have the key to the gate and the trailer. I told him here’s how it’s going to go you can climb down now and you and your buddy can get out of here and never come back or I’ll cut the ladder down and you can stay up there till I call the police to come and get you down. Your choice. He climbed down and we exchanged some pleasantries and he left but cut across the neighbors land and he let no one hunt there
-
I would let him walk and wait till next year

Take a look at the latest Outdoor News to see the nasty side of the quest for trophy racks. People have lost marriages, families, friends, jobs and have even ended up in jail over antlers. I wonder how many of us would still hunt if we had to turn in the racks of all the bucks we harvested. Remember our job as hunters is primarily population control not antler colleting.

CWD has not jumped the species barrier. The CDC did look into a possible case of CWD jumping the species barrier but they didn’t find a link in the case. There has been a 117% jump in CJD cases in Wisconsin but no link has been found between CWD and CJD. Just google CWD jumping the species barrier.

SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
Larry replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
Ok GJS4 hears is your rebuttal. You consistently make the claim that the DEC’s data is wrong. Without any data to back up your claim all you are doing is expressing an opinion. As for your numbers all those are is a WAG or wishful thinking. So let’s see the state wide data you have that proves the DEC’s data is wrong. You may not like the way the data is collected or you may not like the use of statistical modeling to come up with the numbers. Their plan is sound and their numbers are with 2% accuracy. Where I do agree is that the DEC’s needs to aggressively enforce compliance with Harvest Reporting. -

Most land in this state is in privet hands and with some fairly liberal rules land owners can manage deer on their land almost the way they want. It doesn’t matter if you have 10 acres or a 1000.you can set your own rules you can apply for DMP’s and DMAP’s and in some cases crop deprivation permits. Hell you can even bait as long as you plant it and not pile it. So manage deer on your land the way you want and let the other guys manage deer the way they want. Some of you have forgotten the deer don’t belong to us. AR’s are not needed. -

RIP DEAD FOR THIS YEAR! GOT SOME INFO IT MAY NOT BE BACK BUT WHO KNOWS -
I would check the latest issue of Bow Hunter mag. has a good article on CWD. Also look at outdoor news 25 more deer found with CWD in PA. It won’t be a joke if it ever jumps the species barrier. That will end all deer hunting this country, one good thing no one will be fighting about AR’s anymore. “But nothing to worry about no deer has ever died from CWD”. Right Four Seasons

I did

Here one more reason I took this off the state senate page for bill sb-4739 I am a 37 year old who has been hunting large tracts of private land since I was able to hunt. I have spent countless hours and ten of thousands of dollars over the years to provide quality nutrition and habitat for white tails. We imposed an eight point and outside the ears restriction on our property since purchase. It does make a significant difference in the quality of bucks. However the moment those deer you pass leave your property they are fair game and often get shot. From my standpoint I can't tell you how aggravating that cycle is. I fully support an antler restriction being put into law. And I think within a two year period most all who are against this would change their minds. Counting points has never been an issue with the harvest of 27 eight point or larger bucks I've been able to harvest over the years. And if you can't tell how big or the age of the animal is your attempting to harvest, you probably shouldn't be pulling the trigger in the first place. Let's put this into action ! this is there my deer attitude. because I paided for them.

Larry replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
just to let you know the buck havest is not at 70% 1.5 year old it's about 50/50 one more thing pa has had AR's fort 15years and they are only at 59% of the harvest 2.5 year old or older. I'm not willing to force my way of hunting on anyone for 9% ( I do pass on small bucks and do not share how many buck I've killed over 125) -
