  1. So what you’re saying it was not the DEC, Cornel survey. I have the survey and your numbers are not even close. I also post the results and conclusions of the survey above.
  2. don't know where he got his numbers from. the survey has no numbers like on it. Here is another thing you have to ask is where did these state senators come up with this plan it wasn’t from the DEC . it had to be handed to them word for word.
  3. this will make for some good reading The Facts on Antler Restrictions and Deer Hunting.docx
  4. hey Ray don't know where you got you stuff from but here's the brake down you want the survey to I was chosen to be part of the survey so you should put in everything buckharvestfactors2015.pdf buckmgmtsdm2016.pdf buckppt2016.pdf
  5. This is going to be fun! Who said baiting is illegal in NY it’s not as long as you plant it and don’t pile it. If you plant a ½ acre of beets that’s habitat improvement and you can hunt over them. But if you dig up that same ½ acre of beets and put them in piles and hunt over them, that’s baiting. Look at the definition of what a food plot is and use for, then look at NY hunting regulations the definition of baiting they are basically the same. HAVE FUN
  6. Here something you all are forgetting 85% of the land in NY is I privet hands. So what you’re doing is trying to pass a law telling someone how or what they can hunt on their land. Because you think your way is the right way for everyone and you know what’s best for us all. Holy crap that’s that sound like, could it be we have PROGRESSIVE’S on this site. SHIT! You have the right to hunt on your land the way you want so go head put in any rule you want. But trying to force another land owner to do it your way. By using Big Government because you are ether a progressive or a cry baby.
  7. I can't get the letter to come up can you sent it to me print to small
  8. This is a copy of the letter I sent my state senator: Sir let me give you a little back ground on myself. I have been hunting deer since I’ve been 16 I am now 59. So I have spent some time in the woods. I am able to take the whole month of November off to hunt deer. I do not shoot small bucks that’s my choice. Even though I pass on small bucks. I don’t believe I or anyone else has the right to tell someone what a trophy is or to force their way of hunting onto someone else. This legislation is being brought forth on behalf of one individual and his origination and if I had to guess what that origination is it would be The New York Whitetail Management Coalition. They are trying to do an end run around the DEC I would like to see wildlife management left to the experts and not to the wannabe experts. The DEC has just started promoting a voluntary yearling buck program. I would like to give that program 5 years to see how that works first. We have not even seen the harvest data for the first year of the program. This is just bad legislation. This legislation would just further reduce hunter numbers and cut revenue to the DEC. The person who is only able to hunt a few days and can’t take a month off to hunt. Will not spend the money without a fair chance of harvesting a deer they don’t care how big it is they just want a chance at getting one. If you wish to contact at my e-mail or if there is any way we can have a sit down on this legislation I would appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
  9. The only thing bad about Field & Stream is I can’t get a glass of bourbon neat while sitting at the fire place. That would be great customer service.
  10. Seeing a fairly large group of you want wildlife management though legislation let’s try this you get your buck protection passed ok. The next group wants legislation to ban all lead based ammunition. The next group wants legislation to ban cottontail rabbit hunting because the New England cottontail is threaten and may become endangered and hunters can’t tell the difference between the two. Next group wants legislation to ban all bear hunting in the state. It can go on and on. So if that’s what you want I hope you get it. then who are you going to whine to.
  11. I have killed 4 turkeys with a bow but only in the fall. If turkeys are in season while out deer hunting and turkeys are around I’ll try doing some calling. Never tried to hunt them in the spring it’s hard enough getting them with a gun.
  12. Granted the DEC uses statistical molding to get to their harvest numbers. Their sampling plan gives them an accuracy rate of about 1.5% (about 43% harvest report, deer check stations, checking of game processors) you would never get 100% reporting it would still be in 90% range at best no matter what you do. But it would be a good verification of their molding. So until someone comes up with data that proves theirs is way off then you have to go with theirs. REMEMBER IN GOD WE TRUST ALL OTHERS BRING DATA.
  13. I agree 100% I believe that those who don’t report there harvest are no better than poachers.
  14. I’m going to address two issues here. 1: do you really want wildlife management though the legislation? We all know what state we live in. So do you really want the NY state legislature to do an end run around the DEC. If you do think that having the state legislature manage wildlife is the way to go then we should ask for the elimination of the DEC. Weather agree with how the DEC manages wildlife or not it’s still is better than having down state anti-gun and hunting legislators doing the managing for us. This legislation is being brought forth on behalf of one individual and his origination that origination is The New York Whitetail Management Coalition the founder claims he and his group can manage deer better than the DEC and maybe they can and maybe they can’t. The point here is do you want anyone group or origination dictating though legislation how the rest of us hunt. Be careful what you wish for you may get it. 2: Antler Restrictions Not Needed Pa. hit a mile stone with 59% of the bucks harvested in their deer season, were 2 1/2 years old or better. It sounds like a great accomplishment until you look closer at how it was done. To make it to 59% it took 14 years of antler restrictions with up to 4pt’s on one side. That’s still saying that about 40% of the bucks harvested are 1 ½ year old bucks that have 3 or in some cases 4 points on one side or better. (It’s called high grading). They also in the process decimated there deer herd with the miss guided notion that killing does gives you more bucks. Now let’s take a look at NY in the same time frame. Here in NY with little in the way of AR’s we stand at 52% of the bucks taken that are 2 ½ years and older. So maybe in 5 or 6 years with passing on smaller bucks being now promoted by the DEC, we could be at the 60% mark and no one will be forced into AR’s. It will be just an attitude change. The DEC has given landowners the tools to manage deer on their land the way they want. Landowners under a pretty liberal frame work can manage deer on their property. It will be interesting how the buck harvest age structure comes out for this season on the harvest report.
  15. When you got to you got to go
  16. I have been on 5 jury’s 3 murder trials and 2 arm robberies. Convicted all 3 murderers and 1 of the robberies the other was not guilty that poor bastard spent over a year in jail because couldn’t make a 2500 dollar bail.
  17. For fish sandwich I would go with Tom Wahl’s it’s real fish not carp. Now for a fish fry it’s North Chili Family Restaurant.

  19. Here I am reading this thread. All I can say is what a bunch of BABIES you guys muss be still on the tit. You guys wine about everything. Here’s what you all sound like: wine, wine the gun season is to short I want more days. Wine, wine the gun season is to long I want fewer days. Wine, wine if I don’t shoot that small buck the next guy will. Wine, wine I want antler restrictions because I want a big buck behind every tree. Wine, wine the DEC gives out to many doe permits. Wine, wine the DEC needs to give out more doe permits. On and on you go, some of you guys wine so much you should stop hunting it’s no longer fun for you.
  20. THE FINGER LAKES AND WESTERN NEW YORK WATERFOWL ASSOCIATION WILL HOLD A MEETING AT DEC REGION 8 HQ IN AVON AT 10AM ON 2/12 THE AGENDDA HARVEST RESULTS FROM FEDS AND STATE DIRECTORS ASSESSMENT OF THE SEASON DEC REPORT BY JIM ECKLER
  21. I would like to thank the state of New York and are King Andrew Cuomo for RECERTIFYING MY PISTOL PERMIT. Thank you for wasting my time and 28000000 dollars of our money. I hope all you ASSHOLES in Albany feel safer and I look forward to doing it again in 5 years. Then maybe won’t have to do it again because I would have moved out of this over tax over regulated state!
  22. It is time to start thinking about the 2017-18 waterfowl seasons. It’s time to get a hold of your task force Rep’s. if you don’t know who they are go to the DEC’s web site you can also put comets on the DEC web site.
