    Those dam mountain lions the DEC are stocking along with the wolves and now I hear they are stocking Bigfoots or is it Bigfeet. We will be lucky if there will be any deer left.

    I’ll be using my 444 marlin with 265gr flat points and 47gr’s of H4198. My shots are less than 100yds and that load is like hitting them with Thor’s Hammer.

    First I’m not very religious but before I go to my stand I ask god to let me come back safely and some privet stuff and to let me see a deer. I Never ask to let me kill a deer. I also ask Orion the god of hunters that my shot be true and grant me a kill. After I kill a deer I always pray to god for the soul of the deer and thanking him for letting me take the deer. I also thank Orion for making my shot true and for a swift kill. There is no fist pumping or any of that crap. I THINK THAT CRAP IS DISRESPECTFUL TO THE ANIMAL.

    Just go out and buy any 150gr. Round from any of the major manufactures. You trying to kill a 150lb deer on average. You do not need 180gr bullet made for elk and moose. It may not expand well in a white tail.

    Quit over analyzing. line of sight at 20yds and 20 feet high is 18.86 yds at ground level. use the dam 20yd pin. Line of sight at 50yds is 49.55 at ground level. So quit making it harder than it is.

    This is a video from last year. this the first time I have ever seen a hit deer with an arrow sticking out of it. I do not know where the deer was shot. It may have come from the other side of the road. MFDC0062.AVI

    Why not just have your 222 re-chambered to 223. You may have more time on your hand then I do. Just doesn’t seem its cost value added.

    Here’s what I’m using 444 marlin with 265gr flat points (hand loads) s&w 629DX with 200gr XTP’S and the old standby Remington 12ga 870 with light fields.

    go back out and look the deer is dead about 100yd from where you last saw it if you didn't jump it on the way out

    My favorite smooth bore slug, I have 2 are Dan Arms 12ga and Active 12ga. Nether are made anymore.

    Last Sunday I drove though the keeney swamp WMA to see if anyone was duck or deer hunting. There wasn’t a single car there. A couple of years ago I hunted there on Thanksgiving day with one of my sons. when we left I drove both the lower and upper roads and we were the only ones there. I don’t know how hard it was hit on opening day but when I started hunting, there were cars there all the time. So I would say there are less hunters out there.

    Love shooting (at) teal they be fast I be slow and the older I get the faster they get or is that the slower I get.
