  1. This is exactly what is happening, his insurance company hangs their claim I was at fault on his statement that "I almost made it" and neglected to acknowledge the fact there is a police report and he was ticketed....I have instructed my company that I will back them as far as they wish but I wish them to fight this and take it to arbitration. This crap is why people get so angry and frustrated; no fault of mine but I lose time, money and loss of my vehicle. It's a one ton truck and a "rental car" just doesn't cut it. I accept the fact he din't intentionally ram my truck, but his company simply isn't doing the right thing. The woman from his company attempting to explain their "investigation" and conclusion was priceless if it wasn't costing me out of pocket. She babbled on how a police report was just "one tool" they use to make this determination. Well it was a police investigation and recorded document that holds the majority of the weight over " I almost made it" statement from their customer. She was not impressed by my questioning of here methods, lack of documents and unrealistic conclusions....
  2. I have turned my insurance company on the case and told them to fight it as far as they can and I'll gladly assist in the arbitration process. It just twists your shorts into a knot knowing your getting screwed and companies settle because it's cheaper than fighting the case. He cut across two lanes of traffic entering my lane at a 45 degree angle in front of me so I had no warning he was there until he was just inches away. Thankfully no passengers or they would have worn a big and sturdy F-350 bumper.... I called the court and district attorney who is handling the ticket to voice my displeasure over losing my deductible and not reducing this to a parking ticket as often happens. I needed to rant and this seemed like a safe place; my wife took delight in listening to me handle the lady on the phone from his insurance company. She had no logical explanations and didn't appreciate being "cross examined" at length by me. I received a letter from them on the 13th asking for my statement with no return envelope to mail it in (go figure) and on the 16th a letter stating they completed their comprehensive investigation. Be safe out there and falls coming !!!!
  3. In July an old guy crosses two lanes of traffic with his suv, makes an illegal left turn directly in the path of my F-350 truck causing $ 3800.00 worth of damage and loss of use of my truck for a week. The police come, investigate, document and issue him a ticket. Luckily he had no passengers on the left side of his vehicle because they would have been injured. Well, I get a letter in the mail from his insurance company yesterday stating that I was deemed 70% liable for the damages because I "failed to lookout and take evasive action". I was dumbfounded and contacted the company directly and the logic used was that they (insurance company) only use the police report as "one tool" to assess liability. The company rep stated that he had lesser liability because in his statement to them he clearly stated that " I almost made it" before the collision.... defies all logic and it's a wonder people are upset over this crap. I'm still steaming mad and now have to apply for arbitration to settle the claim.....
  4. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the Adirondack experience of fall hunting; in my mind nothing compares to the endless possibilities along with the sights and sounds. Best of health and enjoy !!!
  5. I use my a lot for camp (no electricity), salmon fishing trips and hunting; I have had good results with Black Diamond for rugged and waterproof. There expensive but one will outlast several "cheapies" when I need it most.
  6. Love my Kimber 84 in .308, light, accurate and Adirondack weather rugged in snow and cold temps.
  7. Great show and appears to be the "real deal" and they have to work very hard to battle elements, find food sources and then battle being alone. They get frequent health checks but other than that they appear to be truly alone in remote places. This and "Last Alaskans" are the only reason I ever watch TV.....
  8. Still use my trusty old Remington 870, it been wet, muddy, dropped in boats, laid down in corn fields and stepped on by labs and its still produces..... I have a parkerized 11-87 and still go back with the lighter 870 for waterfowl....
  9. The Old Forge general store has lots of stuff for the entire family and nice places to eat nearby. Two Fly shop has great staff, never been on a guided trip from there but great people and I'm sure they'd be great. https://www.ausablerivertwoflyshop.com/
  10. The family and I have been, it's nice inside and the guy running the place was fun to talk with, it's close and inexpensive. A nice tour of a couple of hours, and it has some history and really nice mounts. https://www.wildlifesportsmuseum.com/
  11. How about a guided fly fishing trip to the Ausable and Lake Placid area, or Old Forge has lots of "tourist" activities and shopping the area stores...
  12. Not sure if I'm repeating any but near you are the "Adirondack Museum" or now Adirondack Adventure I believe it's called in Blue Mountain Lake, Wild Life Sports Museum in Amsterdam, and a trip to the Saratoga Battlefield and surrounding Schuylerville area history...
  13. The northern zone has many opportunities on public land with some early scouting. They likely seek good food sources in early fall, I've found old orchards and choke cherry trees the main sources. Talk to some locals to see where they observe activity or have activity.
  14. Look at the bright side, the Yeti and mountain lion posts have slowed down...
  15. I have the four piece rods for packing and use a light weigth homemade plastic tube on my day pack to safely get them where I'm going. I some times carry my frame pack for better protection depending on where I am wandering about...... I don't carry my St.Croix rods for "off trail" fly fishing.....
  16. Trout season yet ???? My dream harvest is a bigfoot with a .22 rim fire single shot at over 250 yards....
  17. Trout season !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Handgun must be surrendered to law enforcement until they can be designated by the executor of the estate to any of the following: 1. place them on his/her permit if they have one or obtain a permit 2. transfer them from the law enforcement to a FFL licensed person/business via authorization from executor 3. authorize law enforcement to destroy them 4. executor may distribute them to a third party via a permit amendment and written documentation from executor Hope it helps..............in any event handguns MUST be turned over to lawenforcement and the county (issuing agency) of the deceased's permit needs to be notified.
  19. Made the week long trek to camp and snowshoed in with about 4' hard pack on the ground, the deer are yarded up as usual and it's gonna be a while until snow melts as it's hard pack and icy underneath. It was nice to see camp doing well and all roofs shed off, someone knocked the gate down on my access so there a early spring project..... Stay well out there and the sun feel like spring.........
  20. My guess is wheel bearing..........
  21. I use a Cabela's fanny pack with shoulder straps. It's roomy enough for the gear I carry and a light rain jacket, has straps on the outside so one could carry other clothing, and lots of packets... I like that I can slip it on and off while sitting and carries well on your back.
