  1. At this point I'd rather slam my plumb in my truck door than follow this "debate"... Back to hunting and fishing !!
  2. Thanks all, the nights are getting cooler, the days shorter and soon the salmon will be running....and I'm another year older !!!
  3. It simply can't happen quick enough for me....I usually head to camp for some early bear and then most of November (I'm retired) and stay until December or snow gets too deep to get back and forth with the UTV. I'll start scouting very soon with a few cameras and hikes while brook trout fishing... Good luck...
  4. Best wishes to that young man and his treatment; it's great we can share some positivity on here. Best wish and I wear my supper, do they provide a bib as my beard can only catch so much? I now try to match my shirt color to what we're eating that night...no joke that's where I am !!!
  5. I don't use the stats specifically for scouting or hunting; I utilize the same general area in Hamilton County every season. I did notice bear activity in my town drop significantly since 2019. Looking at the trends on the report they show significant harvest fluctuations from year to year that mirror my scouting observations and trail cam activity. I know that food sources change every year dependent on nature's bounty (beech nuts/choke cherries/apples). Trends are always interesting to look at; I also feel that last year and the pandemic created more hunting activity than other years.. Thanks for sharing.....
  6. That right there is pretty darn cool !! It would be for canoe tripping so weight isn't a game stopper, but not looking to carry cast iron around as I do portages also. Looking for cookware for more "home made" meals and some light baking on 0 days at a camp site. Thanks for the info as it's greatly appreciated.. Dan
  7. In the commission of the current gun violence are criminals NOT breaking currently standing laws? What needs to happen is enforcement of standing laws, NOT throwing money at the problem, writing more stringent laws, filing more lawsuits. But NOTHING will happen until someone who is a criminal get's held accountable and punished....it seems the Democratic way has become, scream there's a problem, throw dollars at it, vilify the masses and not punish those INDIVIDUALS responsible..... so fed up with the BS thinking. If my dog pisses on my couch every day do I punish my dog or the dogs in the neighborhood who are behaving?
  8. I know it's too heavy for backpack trips but wonder of anyone uses the fry-bank pan ? Any thoughts appreciated before I throw down 100.00....
  9. I just put in a bid, but hope the Home Owners Association Fees are reasonable....
  10. I work for a large county where we'd step over a quarter to pick up and penny; I always remarked that thank God we didn't have to turn a profit. It would take 4 hours for a simple oil change on a patrol vehicle, even if you were waiting. If their "labor manual" said 4 hours that was what they took. Used to drive me nuts as my dad was a self employed builder and time was money working with him. Civil service credo "those that do sloppy work get less work, those that do good work get more work, and we all got the same pension".....
  11. Sounds like a typical municipality job. One coming, one going, one sh**ing and one mowing !!!
  12. Thought this was the "safe act"; what this sate needs is criminal control. A certain segment of society will NEVER FOLLOW rules or common sense of responsibility towards others. We can have all the gun laws there are out there, unless there followed they are useless !!
  13. Beautiful knife and a great shape; only downside is the sheath. I can only image how it would be attached to one's belt and the danger of cutting yourself while returning it to the sheath one handed....
  14. I know these are from a couple years back and on state land near me, the choke cherry trees were loaded and they went wild eating from them on July and August. Top pic has a sow and three cubs (one is a chocolate colored) and much smaller, the lower pic is a nice young adult. These were all taken on state land at a long ago farm and the year before the apple trees were loaded and again they presented great photo opportunities with my trail camera. I can't imagine pooping out that many cherry pits !! Gotta be like buck shot....
  15. Theses are from a couple of years ago right near me, as near as I could tell there were about 20 different bears around within about a five mile radius. Sadly, someone started feeding a sow and her two cubs. They got into sheds, camps and the town recycle center and lost all fear of man.
  16. Come over by my camp, there like flees around me..
  17. Last July they overran camp and we "harvested" 32 in one night with six traps. They ruined our paper products and the wooden cabinet they were stored in and chewed holes through the windows screens and came in.... Keep up the good fight!!!!
  18. I believe Beman and Easton are one in the same company....not 100 %......
  19. Let me guess, parked running and unattended ? Was there a patient aboard for the ride !!
  20. Sorry to hear, our "pets" are so much more and like family...
  21. My ability to turn off the television and most news sources have gotten much better under the Biden "administration; I feel nothing as I tune him out; he has no ability to utter a coherent and complete statement and the VP is a giggling adolescent school girl...
  22. Right now I have a F-350 diesel and use it to haul a dump trailer; backhoe and snow plow with a very heavy V plow. It simply can't be beat for torque and hauling. That being said I previously owned two Toyota Tundra's and enjoyed both greatly; the only downside was gas millage. Both trucks had almost 100,000 miles when traded and only replaced tires and brakes beyond routine scheduled maintenance. Availability right now seems tight and local lots near me are empty for all makes. The wife just bought a Nissan Murino on a crazy deal for a "left over 21". They went well above the listed trade-in and wanted her 3 year old Rogue for a trade and used sale on their lot.
  23. Took a longer close look !! I'm on the side of its a wood chuck.....
