  1. at LAX Airport. First reports are a person with a "high powered rifle" opened fire in Terminal 3 in LA. Gunman was shot and put down after multiple persons injured. Prayers to those who have been injured. Lets see how the media churns this one into another gun control backlash. At least they did not use the word "assault" weapon. Update: Now its called a semi-automatic weapon . . . Update 2: Now they call it an "assault rifle" according to LAX police chief . . . hmmm..... here we go!
  2. I can't understand why the kid on this video would take such a shot with two other deer standing so close and parallel to the front one. I also don't get how people could congratulate him in the comments. I'm happy for the kid getting his first with a bow but you would think this kid's dad would tell him to wait until the other two doe clear the area. Way to teach the young ones . . .
  3. Nice! Lets see some pics!
  4. The only dumb ones here are the two holding the cameras.
  5. on my way back from Riverhead to sight in my Rem 710 30-06 which I dropped last year after shooting my largest buck to date. I replaced the stock and today was the first time I had the chance to shoot it since then. Well I was quite pleased with the results. At 50 yds. My shots are the larger holes. I put 6 shots in and was done. First two were up and to the right. Rather than making any adjustments I took another one.. The next one was about 2" just below bullseye. Again i didn't touch the scope. Waited couple of minutes and took the next three - dead center. Surprisingly I did not have to touch elevation or windage on my scope. I figured I just pulled the first 3. As I'm walking to take my target the guy shooting about 5 benches to my left shouted out: "Oh jeez were you shooting at that target?" I said "Um yeah!" He apologized and we got to talking afterwards. Nice guy. He was shooting a 10-22 which explains the small holes. I think I'm ready for opening day!
  6. 4Y for me. Nothing seen yet other than on cams at night. Heading up this weekend hoping to see some moving during the day.

  8. Before Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  9. Sitting in with my son and his best friend in a Sportsmans Ed course in Bayville.
  10. I hear ya DP. I haven't been out since opening weekend for bow in S Tier. Planning on going this coming Friday hoping to fill my freezer.
  11. I've decided on the HP. Not sure which one yet but I plan on going with 500g HDrive and at least an i3 Intel processor and 6g ram. Now if I can only find it for around $350. . .
  12. The 1.5oz rule applies to bear lures such as a slow honey burn. Does not apply to deer.
  13. Thanks for your input guys. As I said I'm not looking for a $350 laptop to be as efficient and durable as a $1000+ laptop. That being said I'm just looking for a decent, somewhat durable laptop with decent battery life that will last for at least the next 4 years.
  14. NYHillbilly, I looked at the Acer touch screens too. He already has an iPad so no touch screen pc is included in our search right now. He needs a decent laptop that holds a decent charge. I'm leaning toward the HP only because it lasted longer than my Dells. The HP used to be my work laptop until I made the mistake of going to a larger screen Dell and giving my son my old HP.
  15. Thanks for the advice Shawn. I didn't think of Lenovo or Asus. I will look into those as well. The budget is $350 I am not putting any money into it. He worked and earned it. This is a temp laptop to get him through the next few years in school. When he turns 16 he has his sights on a macbook like his sister got for her sweet 16 from her grandparents. Nevertheless I'll earn my award when I get him his first shotgun after he passes his hunters education class this coming weekend.
  16. Happy Birthday. Hope you had a great day!
  17. I hear ya Paula. I switched from a Dell inspiron laptop that always crashed despite restoring it several times to a 21" mac desktop all in one this summer. I don't know why I waited so long to make the switch. I will never go back. Needless to say a Mac is out of my sons budget right now.
  18. I need your opinions. My son earned some money this summer and he saved up $350 for a new laptop. I was thinking of this HP to get him through high school. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-15-6-34-laptop-4gb-memory-500gb-hard-drive-black-licorice/2255015.p?id=1219070766187&skuId=2255015 He has an HP now which is about 6 yrs old and works ok but its slow. Its been restored a few times and it works. He uses it for playing online games. He needs a new one for school. I will not go with Dell as I had bad experiences with them. I don't know much about Toshibas or Acers. He wants a chromebook but I don't think that would be good for school as most don't have usb support or cd/dvd rom drives. He needs to be able to install Word and use that for homework etc Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  19. Maybe its a Unibearlynxpeckerpine or it could be Miley Read somewhere they both love twerking... I mean tearing bark off of trees . . .
  20. Damn those rat bast*rds! How dare they wait until after legal shooting light to come out and play! Cool pics though . . .
  21. Lol. My wife hates smartphones. She prefers dumb phones but hers broke so she upgraded to a stupid phone. As for me I can't live without my smartphone! Lol
