  1. Yo Joe! Happy Birthday! Go get yourself a nice 10 pt!
  2. Nice buck Abruno! I would def mount him!
  3. It's not all about the kill it's about everything leading up to it including a miss. Live and learn. I've been in your shoes several times, 20 yds out and even 15 yds and missed.
  4. Good luck everyone. Be safe and strapped in. Looking forward to seeing some pics of some deer on the ground.
  5. Good luck everyone. Driving along Route 24 to Riverhead was depressing seeing all the cars parked along the side of the road near public lands. I can't wait until Friday!!!
  6. I thought only girls had sweet sixteen parties. Lol. Just kidding - happy birthday Joseph. I would go with meat and a nice big BBQ.
  7. Well it's a bit late in the year to start this but better late than never I guess. I spent some time this afternoon going through my gear and getting it ready for this coming Friday. Got all in order. Checked and double checked my bow making sure all bolts and screws are tight. Examined my arrows and broadheads for damage. Attached my GoPro mount to my stab. Clothes are all washed - including T-shirts and shorts and lots of scent free deodorant. And premetherin spray. Thermacell working with earth scent pads and butane refills. Tested my DIY slow honey burn and it works great! Now all I need is some deer and perhaps a black bear to cross in front of my stand this coming weekend.
  8. I finally had an hour to myself to put together this timelapse video from pictures I took using my GoPro Hero 3 on September 14, 2013. (Watch it on 720HD for clearer picture) I can't wait to be seeing the real thing again next weekend . . .
  9. This is bull sheetz!! What the hell were school officials thinking? Suspending a 7th grader for having a quarter sized cheap metal keychain shaped like a gun in school? Their reasons were that it violated school policy prohibiting: "Possession/carrying/use of/threat of use of a firearm or replica shall result in a recommendation for expulsion for a period of time up to one full calendar year.” Really? .... I mean REALLY? http://news.yahoo.com/insanity-seventh-grader-suspended-three-days-gun-keychain-083218314.html
  10. I usually head up on eve of opening day but not this year. Been busy running around the past few weeks and will be doing so into opening day. Lots of cases on calendar. So I'm heading up on Friday (10/4) morning hoping to get an afternoon hunt in. I would not risk getting into a situation with your boss and instead try to leave early to get a pm hunt in on 10/1.
  11. Great video! I can't wait to go hunting with my son for the first time this coming season!
  12. Just make sure you dont mix up the doe urine with the breath spray! Yuck! Lol!
  13. Before asking for any raise, you did say that this is a family business. By any chance is this a business you want to really stay with and possibly take over? If so it may be best to just keep quiet for now. It has been my experience that family businesses usually take care of their "outside" employees first by that I mean non-family members with the idea that one day the family business will eventually be yours when dad and grandpa retire.
  14. Omg! I just spit my coffee out!!
  15. Nice shot and video footage. You just gave me some ideas for filming my own hunt in two weeks. Edit: And no I don't mean the bait . . .
  16. Maybe next year. Don't have the time to do it before the season starts. Going to have to stop at Dicks to see if they have lightweight suit for early October. Don't want to have to wear my fleece lined suit that early.
  17. Update: So today I decided to wash my DIY camo suit in scent free clothes wash. Lets just say It came out clean. Unfortunately all the paint came right off. Oh well! Back to the drawing board...
  18. Oh my! That must be Papa bear.
  19. Disagree. Don't care what anyone else shoots. But we impose our own on our land.
  20. Just read this in the NY Post. Great piece. http://nypost.com/2013/09/20/the-futility-of-gun-control/
  21. I went from a1974 Buick Electra 225 (Dad's car) to a used 1984 BMW 318i which I bought in 1988 to a 1988 Jeep Cherokee which I bought in 1997 to a 1989 BMW 325i which my wife had until 2001 when I got tired of paying my mechanic's mortgage payment and I started leasing cars - 2001 Audi A4, 2003 A4, 2009 Infiniti and now a 2013 Infiniti.
  22. Thanks for the reminder. Never go up my stand without being strapped in. Hope you heal up soon.
  23. The Fence Test. This is straight forward country thinking.. by Jeff Foxworthy Which side of the fence? If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test! If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one. If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed. If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat. If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone. If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life. If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect. If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. If a Democrat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him. If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. A Democrat demands that those they don't like be shut down. If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. If a Democrat decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his.
  24. Wow! Nice! Got one like that on cam two years ago in middle of day - never saw him again!
  25. Back home from camp. Actually the first picture was Saturday's sunset and the second was Saturday night's moon! Both taken with Samsung Galaxy S4. It was a very productive weekend. Moved a stand and secured the others. Moved some cameras. Made a mock scrape near a trail. Picked 7 bushels of tomatoes from the garden, eggplants, and peppers. Picked some apples and pears. Wrapped the fruit tree saplings in chicken wire. Damn bucks already hit a few! Even practiced my bow a bit. All set and ready to go for opening weekend!
