  1. The camera is set up in a horse pasture near a small gulley . The deer pass through the pasture and through the gulley to get to other properties . They feel safe around the horses .
  2. I saw the interview where Nugent put Piers Morgan in his place . Michael Moron ----- the movie maker ----- was on Morgan's show last night .
  3. What a piece of crap . He is pushing for more gun control in the USA . That turd should go back to England and stay there !
  4. Oh gosh , they look so innocent . They probably didn't see the posted signs . Is that a fat little kid on a bike in the background ?
  5. When I was a kid and worked for Kelly Brother's Nurseries in Dansville , some of the guys used to go to Rattlesnake Hill and catch and sell them . I think it is between Dansville and Nunda . I never had the desire to go .............. I lived in Groveland and we had Black Snakes there .
  6. When I was going to school , some of the schools had rifle clubs and teams competed with other schools . I doubt that would be allowed in these times ( but I don't know that for sure) .
  7. There ya go ............ i'm above average !
  8. When I was a kid , the son of a restaurant owner would take 3 of us to barns on various Wadsworth's properties in Geneseo . We would climb up and grab the young pigeons and put them in a burlap bag . The guy's dad served them as Squab .
  9. Heard you the 1st time . No need to post twice !
  10. On some camera instructions it mentions not having the camera facing East or West .
  11. I know that it is taught to hold on target then push and pull at the same time to draw the bow while doing so . When I started shooting in the back yard I started drawing the bow while holding down and then raising the bow to the target . I did this so I wouldn't accidentally launch an arrow . I have a very thick area beyond my target but i'd rather be safe than sorry .
  12. The shooter never should have been taken alive . Chances are that the prosecution will screw up and he will get off easy .
  13. I couldn't resist the temptation with the response . I am probably older than Doc ..........
  14. When I saw the Topic , I thought it was going to be a pic of Doc .
  15. It has been so hot that the hens have been laying hard boiled eggs !
  16. Pulled my 2 cams from my friend's property . Between the trespassers and his son & DIL riding the ATV on the trail , I hav't got any deer pics in a couple weeks .
  17. I hadn't seen anything like this before . Thanks for the clarification . I wonder if she will eventually shed .
  18. During gun season , I hunt wearing some sort of Blaze Orange . I have solid orange and the break-up orange pattern with an orange hat . I think it would be a mistake to make it mandatory . If it was mandatory hunters would look for the BO and if they saw movement without spotting the BO would probably shoot . And ...... I am sure hunters would hunt without it .
  19. This was in today's Rochester D&C State extends deer season Three-day youth hunt also set for October Leo Roth Staff writer Clarkson’s Gerry Rightmyer is an avid hunter, participating in both archery and firearms season in New York for big game. By the time the fall is over, he’s pretty whipped. “And now I’vegot two more weeks to hunt,’’ Rightmyer said. He’s not complaining. On Wednesday, the state released new regulations regarding whitetail deer hunting that benefit both bowhunters and youth hunters in New York’s Southern Zone that encompasses the Rochester region. Starting this fall, there will be a threeday youth hunt beginning on the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend during which licensed hunters ages 14 and 15 can kill a deer with a firearm. Meanwhile, the start of bow season will move to Oct. 1. That’s a solid two weeks ahead of the old start date. “I definitely welcome an extra two weeks of bow season,’’ said Rightmyer, a pro staffer for Cabela’s and official rack scorer for several organizations, including the New York State Big Buck Club. “It’s a fantastic opportunity, especially nowadays when it seems more and more things are getting taken away. This is a case of adding and enhancing a hunter’s experience, which is good.’’ The Department of Environmental Conservation announced changes in its regulations after a lengthy public input period regarding its Five-Year Deer Management Plan. Hunting and fishing is a vital part of the state economy, with New York’s sportsmen spending nearly $2 billion annually on their outdoor pursuits, according to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service studies. All license sales (fishing and hunting) topped 1.3 million for 2011-12, generating $37.7 million. That money is used to fund fish and wildlife programming. Monroe County ranked second in total license sales with 57,085, behind only Erie’s 92,202. According to license sales figures, big game hunters number approximately 637,000 across the state. Resident big-game license sales, however, have been dropping at an average of 2 percent since 1990 and it took a huge increase in license fees in 2009 to keep revenues stable. By adopting a biggame youth weekend for firearms, the DEC is hoping to recruit new hunters. The state already has youth weekends, during which young hunters enter the woods alongside adult mentors, for small game species such as turkey and waterfowl. The DEC further supports legislation that could reduce the minimum age for big game hunting with a firearm from 14 to 12. A previous change to the start of regular firearms season from a Monday to the third Saturday in November shortchanged bowhunters of a weekend. But the Oct. 1 start for both adult and junior bowhunters in the Southern Zone will add an average of 15 additional hunting days, including four weekend days. Some bowhunters spoke out against a youth firearms hunt timed for the first weekend of archery season. But a longer season overall is seen as a compromise. The DEC said concerns about discharged firearms negatively impacting deer behavior in the early fall are unwarranted. There are already more than 100,000 small game hunters afield at that time. At least 15 other states have youth deer firearm hunts that coincide with bowhunting seasons, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio. “It’s a nice compromise in order to recruit new hunters,’’ said Rightmyer, who with friends has mentored many young hunters in the past. “It seems like a win-win. Firearms discharging will have a minimal effect at best.’’ Meanwhile, bear seasons will continue to run concurrent with deer seasons but DEC is developing a black bear management plan where alternative season structures may be considered. 20. I havn't traded any guns at GM but have bought a pistol and rifle . Got a good deal on both . Like Doc said , when GM first opened in Henrietta , the store was impressive .I thought the place was awesome . They had some great stuff at great prices . That has faded away . Their ammo is pricey as hell and I have found DICK's to be less expensive .
  21. If I understand the article correctly , he probably would / could have been charged with a minor offense but the Mary-Jo growing put him over the top . uhhhhhh , what the heck was he doing with a crossbow ?
