  1. Lets see an ad for an 80 yard sight for a compound ? I could certainly use one ! : ... :
  2. Soooooo , are you implying that the owners of HHA , one of the most prominant manufacturers of bow sights , is lying about their 80 yard sight for crossbows because the inventor didn't shoot the bow ?
  3. I got my Lifetime license in the mail yesterday . Stopped at the Town clerk's office around 2 pm . NO line got my ML & Archery permits plus 2 DMPs and left . No wait at all ........
  4. I have no idea what powder or how much is in the factory load . I am assuming that it must be a few grains less or at least not a maximum load . Actually the max load is 55 grains so I was at max . Not using the same bullet , just the same weight bullet . I should have taken the chronograph with me .
  5. Is that the show where they had the two guys shooting for kill shots while wearing night vision goggles ? If so , I saw part of it .
  6. I stopped off at the Town Clerk's office and talked the to pretty blonde that work's there . Got my ML , Archery licenses plus a DMP for 8H & 8F ...........yeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img]http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img]
  7. That doesn't sound right . 82 yards ? That less than 1 1/2 times the depth of our lot ..........
  8. Yeah , I hadn't heard of landowners being turned down . Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm !
  9. HHA makes some of the best Bow sights out there . Now they are making them for Crossbows......
  10. Upstater ............http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/thumbup.gif[/img]..http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/beer.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/thumbup.gif[/img]

  12. I would think the best way to find out is to go to the DEC Office and talk to somone .
  13. I havn't had any problems since I installed the lock ........
  14. I bought the Lifetime last year when they changed the ages of the Sportsmen's licenses . I'll go to the Town clerk and the the ML , Archery and request doe permits . Oh yeah , I don't have to pay when applying for the doe permits . http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img]
  15. My sons both use the screw in steps where they have chain-on stands . I will use either a ladder or ladderstand . I don't like the screw in steps !
  16. I got my Lifetime hunting license in the mail today . I still have to buy ML and Archery tags . If I have time , i'll stop by the Ontario Town Clerk's office tomorrow .
  17. Do factory loads have a low powder charge ? The reason I ask is after moving my scope back last week , I went to the range so I was dead on at 100 yards . I reloaded some 25-06 rounds with 49 , 51 , 53 & 55 grains of powder . Max powder load is 57 grains . I was dead on with 53 grains and 4 1/2" high with 55 grains which leads me to believe that the factory powder charge has to be low .......... Any thoughts on this ? http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/crazynew2.gif[/img]
  18. What do you use for shooting bags ? I bought a few empty shot bags for 25 cents each and filled them with "clean" kitty litter . I've been using the same bags for about 15 years .
  19. Good point . If you don't bend at the waist when shooting from an elevated position , the shot will be high because you would have dropped your bow arm . You want to keep your bow arm parallel to your body .
  20. I totally agree with that ! I am a victim of many of Murphy's Laws . I believe that if I shot a small racked buck , a huge 10 pointer would immediately walk under my stand . I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a doe though .
  21. Nice job Vipertech . They look rock solid . http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img] I put together a home made stand several years ago that I had shot at least 6 deer out of . Anyway , it was 12' high and I had a heck of a time putting it up alone . It was about 20 years ago and I thought I was going to have a stroke getting it in the air and to the tree .
  22. Yeah , that would be okay . I woun't want to see too young of a person turned loose to hunt . Yes , some have more sense than a few adults but .......they are still kids . I see kids nowadays as getting bored too easily . I would be afraid that getting them started in hunting too early that they might get bored and not want to go out in a couple of years . As for the mention of some states allow 6 year olds to hunt with a supervising adult , I have seen hunting shows where 8 year olds are sitting with Daddy in a house blind . The kid is just about sitting on Dad's lap and Dad is doing almost everything except pulling the trigger . That's not right !
  23. Does anyone clean their dies . I had some 223 dies that I left in my turret press for well over a year . They had accumulated a bit of ferrous oxide on the outside so I decided I had better smarten up , clean them up and put them away . I took them apart and used some very fine steel wool inside and out . They cleaned up quite easily . I put a light coat of oil on their outside and wiped them down . I guess I am getting lazy in my old age .
  24. Unless it was a good sized body 4 point I think I would pass knowing I had 2 more days of bow hunting . If I knew the weather was going to be real crappy , I might shoot the deer and then take the next 2 days and get ready for gun season .
