  1. Didn't see anything during the afternoon sit very quiet day all around Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The world is right again back in the stand little breeze and not to warm hopefully things are moving now that most of the nasty weather past Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I would wait to put in permanent stands. We kept moving out stands the first few years we hunted the property were at. Now we have a pretty go set up, but with the crop rotation things are never the same year after year. Plus some guy put up this huge fence around a couple of hunted acres so I'm curious how this year is going to play out now. Might be moving a few more stands soon.
  4. I know but I have to go down to AC during halloween for my cousins fights and they just built a bass pro there. Figured I would rather loose my money there then at the tables and at least come home with some new toys.
  5. Buy a new Thermos.....Can't seem to find mine and I enjoy having some coffee while posted.....One of the few pleasures I choose not to do without.
  6. How are you guys measuring your follow up shots in the field? I'm the only member of my camp that black powder hunts and never had anyone show me the ropes. Thats why I always stuck to pellets. I plan on taking a trip to bass pro in October and buying a bunch down in Atlantic City to avoid the Haz Mat fees.
  7. The farmer usually cuts the corn and bean where we hunt the week before halloween. Haven't been up since the beginning of the month, so I have not clue what he's been up to. I wouldn't mind him cutting it earlier. Takes away a lot of real estate for the deer to hide, and they always come out around dusk and hammer the field while feeding. Have a nice little spot where we always go when you need to put meat in the freezer. I enjoy getting that out of the way and then hunt for my buck.
  8. Pa, I have a TC Triumph. Do you think it will work well in this rife? Also, I have been using the winchester 209 primers but I heard CCI is the way to go. Any thoughts here?
  9. Has anyone used this powder before? I have been searching for something to make cleanup easier, and supposedly you can use normal cleaning solvents with this powder. I have serious problems with fowling cleaning my TC, no matter how many swabs I rub down the bore it looks clean and then I come back and I can see some build up in the barrel and have to re-clean. I have heard good things about this powered and was curious if anyone has used it. I am also concerned with its reliability and how it performs so that plays a factor as well.
  10. I have heard that if you shoot does early in the season, they're less of them around and bucks do more traveling during the rut to find mates. Not sure how much water that holds, but just thought I would throw that out as a topic of conversation to get opinions on.
  11. I usually shoot TC shockwave 250 grain 50 cal bullets out of my TC triumph. I guess I have an over abundance of them and haven't had to buy them in a very long time, as when I went to the store to buy a pack today I was shocked at the price. A little over a dollar a bullet and now they only come in 15 packs? I used to buy them in larger quantities for so much cheaper. Can anyone recommend a good bullet to use for target shooting and sighting in the rifle? I will still use the TC for hunting unless any can recommend a better bullet for a better value. Thanks all. BK
  12. Went duck hunting last year for the first time down in lake Okeechobbe in Flordia....Going again this year. Really don't have the gear or knowledge to start up here. Would love to go more that was the most fun I have had in a while.
  13. I've hunted this property for years and haven't seen to much movement down here but this year the water has floated a little bit more keeping a lot of growth down but there is a ridge the runs on the other side of the water between the ag field and I'm thinking that's where they are really moving undetected Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. On the other side of that water is an agricultural field with corn and soy bean Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I got to selective last year and wasn't able to make it out for muzzle loader season so I never pulled the trigger or bow release...... I saved a few packs for just that reason but I was out a long time ago.....I learned my lesson the hard way......Now its meat hunting first and then I'll be selective. This year I hope to put a bunch in the freezer to avoid this problem.
  16. Trial, I am located in Queens, but I hunt up in Hudson. I rifle and bow hunt. I am trying to learn more about pack hunting as I would like to become proficient in the DIY hunts out west. When you go do you stay in motels or do you pack hunt like I described above. I'm really trying to gain as much knowledge as possible as this is all new to me. I have been white tail hunting in NY for about 11 years and am looking to challenge myself more and no place seems more fitting then out west. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Biz thanks for the tip.... I'll be sure to check them out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Paula its one of the most popular publications for out west hunting. I have stated that I am from NY that could have something to do with it. Generally on this forum everyone is will to lend tips and guide people in the right direction. Not so much on that forum I guess. Oh well I guess I get a year magazine subscription out of it.
  19. I recently joined the huntin fool club thinking to gain some valuable insight on out west hunting as I want to try to do an annual DIY out west pack hunt every year. Every post I make barley gets a response. Has anyone else here belonged to that site? I seem to get answer to my question right away here and from many different viewpoints, but there not a peep. Has anyone else ever belong to this site and had the same experience? I feel like I just wasted money on the annual subscription there.
  20. I was listening to a meat eater podcast recently and I believe the topic of how to split up wmu came up. They had someone on there I forget their name but they were very knowledgeable and they said the best way to do it would be by watershed. Obviously I have no background in this matter but seemed logical..... That being the logical thing explains why the government won't adopt it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. #1 for me so far is deer on the bow.... Went duck hunting for the first time last season that definitely is number two now on my list.... It's addicting thinking about buying some pop blinds this year to hammer the geese in the corn fields Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I have one...... Thing was a pain in the neck to jump into the woods.... Went the permanent route.... Much happier for it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I have a circuit judge that holds 410 slug/shot and can also chamber 45 long colt.... Nice little ranch gun.... While small gaming you can drop in either the slug or long colt for yotes or any other pesky critters Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Honestly you can sit in your tree stand and see tons of squirrels and just plink them with the 22....lots of fun and tasty......Rabbits I will never again take the 22 as I said above shotgun from here on out.
  25. I was up in columbia county on a farm up there. I walked the edges of the crop fields and any other thick piles I could find in between fields.
