Where is all the sign????????????????
BKhunter replied to ididnotvoteforobama's topic in Bow Hunting
Nothing as of last weekend in 4Y....Have only seen a few spikes. Buddy of mine saw two good shooters though. -
Even though that article is a few months old I hope it still holds true. I would like to see the actual figures released on registration, but you know his administration would not release those figures as it would show the failure of the policy. With the known unpopularity I wonder how the state senate will vote if they introduce the second part of the safe act as it has been rumored after the election.

I was in my stand on Saturday when I heard the grumbling of a tractor which then proceeded to drive into the woods and stop with its motor idling 100 yards from where I was posted. Two guys jumped out to check on some stands that I had no idea were there. After about 15 minutes they got back on the tractor and drove away. I thought my afternoon was shot, but all the other stands on the property were occupied so I decided to stay. 15 minutes later a doe walked right to where the tractor was parked and ate for about 20 minutes. Even though I had no shot you never know what will come along. I was hunting on the boarder of the farm I have permission to hunt and their stand is on the neighboring farm. I guess I have to start rethinking my strategy as I believe they will be showing up come rifle season.

Point on the micro stamping and why it is not practical. What if I collect brass at a range for reloading??? The brass would be linked to other individuals. Am I wrong in thinking how impractical this is and how little thought is put into this legislation when its drafted?

He actually needs Cuomo to agree to a debate....Surprised how little attention that is getting as well as Cuomo canceling radio interviews if they ask him any questions other than his book release. At least that was in the NY Post today.

Safe act part 2
BKhunter replied to hunter49's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I honestly can't see anyone legally owning a gun or ammunition if this is passed without the fear of being persecuted. -
I really hope these figures aren't true....If so things aren't looking to good for us this November http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2014/governor/ny/new_york_governor_astorino_vs_cuomo-4177.html

I agree with Grow.....If it's meat your after take the shot. Do you think earlier hunters would not shoot if a deer walked passed their camp or cabin if there were on a meat hunt? No. they would take the shot and thank the lord for the short drag to the processing site. It all depends on what your after. If I was eating tag soup for three years this wouldn't even be a question.

Thanks.....I'm assuming you have involvement with that organization. If so Will you be posting to this boards when it becomes available?

As long as you are taking it in a legal manner why not? If you are looking for meat for the freezer I usually always select a doe for this purpose.

Mike, Any idea if any petitions have been started in order to get a season implemented?
-
I have both...Since I mostly hunt private land I prefer the permanent...Walk in with less gear and quieter and climb right up. Makes life easy.

Thanks Stone....Good idea.....Can someone PM the site for online ammo as well?

A little off topic but just as ridiculous......I bought my Pistol in NYC which came with a magazine. When I went to order more of the same identical magazines on-line I get the message "These cannot be mailed to New York State". So I can buy them here but they can't be mailed here.......Hmmmmmm

We hunt our corn fields as soon as possible after they cut them.

I used them this weekend. I liked them. Not as thick as my under armor but it was more comfortable kept me dry, dried out quick and also did not retain odor. I'm happy about the purchase.

So I've heard peeing on the scrape makes the buck believe another buck is intruding on his territory and gets them riled up to defend their turf. I also read an article about the "Zip ties Method". This method involves cutting the over hanging lick branch and placing it in a sealed bag in order to not contaminate the branch with other scents. Then taking this branch to another property you hunt and zip tie the branch to another licking branch over another scrape. I am told this works really well. Have not tried either method but plan to this year.

I think this is a very big thing for our sport. Glad to hear it.
