  1. I would love to find one in Brooklyn if anyone knows of any. Highly doubt they exist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Huge fan of craft beers. I try to sample something new every time I walk into a bar or store. Can't drink as much as I used to these days so instead of hammering down Coors light I sip on 2-3 good crafts. It's become a little commercial but Six point brewing company has been my go to for awhile now.
  3. Just curious where you all read this. Would like to read the full article.
  4. Gonehntn, Do you mind sharing that whole front leg roast recipe? Would love to try that as it would cut down on my butchering time a lot and sounds delicious.
  5. I always passed up on shooting raccoons as I never thought they harmed anything. I guess this year they get added to the target list along with the coyotes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Just read an article in field and stream that makes me second guess my choice to use mechanical broad heads. http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/whitetail-365/guest-shoot-me-down-fixed-blade-broadheads-top-mechanicals-for-deer?dom=fas&loc=contentwell&lnk=guest-shoot-me-down-fixedblade-broadheads-top-mechanicals-for-deer The thing that really got me were two points: 1. You can practice with the fixed blade head and you know how they will fly (granted you will need to replace the blades or solely use that head for target practice. 2. Anything mechanical has the possibility of failure. (This was the main one that got me) What kind of fixed broad heads are you guys shooting. Would like some recommendations to try out.
  7. Has anyone ever used this stuff? I have a friend that has been raving about it but wanted to get more opinions before I took the plunge. http://froglube.com/
  8. Anyone here every use a sawzall when they butcher a deer. After seeing someone's post on here about Osso Buco I wanted to save the shanks this year and cut them up but did feel like investing in a meat saw so thought I could do the same thing with a sawzall. Just curious if this is a good or bad idea.
  9. If you are butchering yourself do you just saw through the knee and then a little lower in the shin? Could you use a sawzall for this if you don't have a meat bansaw?
  10. Can anyone recommend a good case for a compound bow for airplane travel? Something that will fit a good amount of gear and will keep your bow safe from being bumped around on the planes.
  11. Anyone know when licenses go on sale for the 2014-2015 hunting season? I believe its generally August but wasn't sure.
  12. AR-15's have been restricted in NYC for a very long time. The safe act really didn't change much for us down here. Although it shows which direction the state is headed with more and more legislation passed. Hopefully voters turn out this November and get Cuomo out of his throne with officials who realize this law has to go.
  13. What is this gofer I don't see any details? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I actually just picked up my license yesterday from the NYPD and was offered to fill out a form which would keep my name off of any public list. I was actually surprised that they offered me this form since they do everything in their power to discourage people from trying to obtain a license.
  15. Moog, Just curious if there is anything in particular that you are reading to plan out your Iowa hunt. Curious how people develop their plans when going to another state. I assume your are going to be hunting public land correct, or do you have a hook on some private land? I'm a newbie when it comes to planning hunts out of state and don't want to get taken for a ride by some of these guides out there.
  16. I use Grim Reapers. Have been extremely happy with them over the years and would always recommend them.
  17. I am interested in starting to do these out of state hunts but not really sure how the whole system works. I understand the more points you have gives you more of a chance of drawing a tag, but once you draw do you then have to book a guide if you so choose to go that route? Or can you just link up with a guide and avoid the whole preference point system all together?
  18. I always went to Queens archery which was close to where I grew up. It was a pain to make the trip these days. This is pretty close to my house. Hopefully they have a hunting league. This is great news
  19. I am in agreement to that and also believe that cartridge will be around forever. Just wanted to hear everyone else's thoughts.
  20. North American in my opinion in the best big game hunting in the world with the wide variety of big game. From white tail to brown bear you have a huge variety. What do you think the best all around cartridge is for being able to hunt anywhere in North America. I ask this because I would like to buy a new rifle but I would like something that I can start using to expand on my hunts and go for larger game other than just white tails.
  21. Just out of curiosity would everyone recommend this target over the black block? I was in the market for a target when this thread came up and was leaning toward the black block but had second thoughts after hearing how happy everyone is with the Rhinoblock.
  22. I played around with it a bit...Seems like a useful tool so far. They can definitely make improvements which I am sure will come in due time. It would be nice to be able to take a picture of your tags like the banking apps do for when you need to register a harvest. Also not sure if it is a feature or not but if it could tell you what WMU you are in with the GPS. I only hunt one so it is not necessary but if I ever decided to go somewhere else it would be a helpful feature.
  23. I hope your right and we can make a difference this election season.
  24. The troubling part of that article is the Sienna poll that says 2 out of 3 support the SAFE ACT. The other troubling this is that many residents of the state really don't take the time to get informed of who they are voting for and think just because someone was good enough to win once they should remain in their seat unless large scandals hit the head lines ie "Client #9". Hopefully I am wrong and people take the time to really understand what a crapy job this guy is doing on his "road to the white house" and prove to all politicians that your seat is not guaranteed just by coasting by and buying votes with political hand outs.
