  1. Holy wind just got in the stand sitting till dark but with this wind I don't think anything is going to be cruising Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Welcome from Astoria, Queens
  3. Live from the office.......Wish I was up and not missing all this action. Driving up early Friday will be out around 11 and sit the rest of the day and all day Saturday. Hopefully I can punch a tag on a nice buck. Worried the chasing will end before Friday and the bucks will be locked down with does by then.
  4. Any update in activity in the Southern Zone? Looks like temps are going to get nice and cold this week/weekend. Hoping I don't miss out. Getting up Friday morning around 10:30 and then will sit the remainder of the day, with an all day sit Saturday.
  5. Does anyone own a good deli slicer they recommend? Looking to get one for homemade bacon and salami's. Don't want to break the bank, but would like a good quality sturdy machine.
  6. Heading up early Friday next wee. Can't wait to be out there hopefully during prime time!
  7. Yea it used to be that.....They also used to give two tags in the fall as well. Called the DEC they said the numbers took a hit and they wanted to reduce the harvest for the numbers to rebound a little.
  8. Just curious what everyone is seeing. I was out last weekend and didn't see much rut activity. No scrapes or rubs where I am at in 4Y. I'm not able to get back up until Nov 11th. Do you think the rut will be over by then or is everyone in the southern zone just starting to see activity picking up.
  9. Been dying to do a trip like this. Did you put anything on the ground?
  10. Was watching Meat Eater on netflix and they made this dish called Hobo Pie. It's basically ground venison mixed with veggies and some seasoning wrapped in tin foil and placed in the hot coals of a fire. Has anyone ever done this before? Have a good recipe? How long do you leave it in the coals for? Looked pretty good for a hunting camp dish.
  11. Congrats......Especially on the band!! Did you call about the info on the duck? I think you should choose something that represents the hunt. Maybe the way it flew in or some other additions that resemble the area you shot it.
  12. I embraced the suck last weekend all day Saturday in the rain just to be out there. Actually saw 8 does which was encouraging. Sunday morning was a great day with 5 bucks: 3 spike and 2 fours. Like NYBowhunter I'm trapped in the city mon-fri and would escape every weekend to up there if I could. Unfortunately I can't. I need to win lotto enough of this city job crap. It's eating into my hunting time.
  13. Same boat....Only been out two weekends so far with the next one being the 11th!!!!!
  14. I saw five bucks still in a group this weekend......3 spikes and two fours. The largest of the bunch was starting to get a little aggressive and trying to push the smaller ones away. Think seeking should start soon.
  15. I still saw bucks in bachelor groups this weekend.......Had 5 together 3 spikes two fork pointers. The largest four was started to get agitated and would try pushing off a spike here and there so I think the seeking phase is going to start soon.
  16. This little guy kept walking back and forth for about 15 minutes this morning and kept checking me out. He was within 7 yards. Really cool encounter. He's lucky there is still a lot of season left to find his older brother. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I hear goat and sheep is either Idaho or Utah are your best odds.....Check out GoHunt.com sometime you can find codes for a free month. You can check out all the western states and their draw offs per species and get tons of useful info. Great site in my opinion.
  18. I can't go up for the next two weeks after this weekend so I will be out in my finest rain gear. EMBRACE THE SUCK!!!!
  19. Welcome......Went to College in Albany
  20. I'm having the same issue. I'm located in Queens and only found one come around that I had a prior obligation and couldn't attend.
  21. I'm jealous of you guys that have this option........I only get a select few weekends so I'm out there not matter what mother nature decides on the weekends I can get up there.
  22. Got one the last weekend I went up. Heading up this weekend to bow hunt and figure Sunday afternoon will be dedicated to more squirrels. Hoping to get a few more in the freezer before I cook them up.
  23. Thanks Rack! Can I use the CVA BP oil patches or use regular gun oil? Also, Should I use regular gun cleaner to remove any of the residual BP fouling? I keep cleaning and cleaning with the BP cleaners and can never get it all out?
  24. Hey All, I recently bought a bottle of Black Horn 209 powder as I have heard great things about it and am getting fed up with no matter how much I clean my muzzle loader I can never get all the residue out of the barrel and always get some form of build up. I was reading online about how to clean with this powder and some people say use the CVA BP cleaner and some say use your regular old gun cleaner. Not sure which way to go here. Any tips? BK
