Has anyone ever hunted these lands. Not looking for honey holes, just curious if these are decent spots to get away from the crowds and maybe do an overnight camp hunt.
-
The only reason I won't is because I care about my hunting privileges to much to risk loosing them.

I don't think twice dropping one when I am out in the field as long as they are in season. I do agree with the author though and think they should expand the season. I would hunt them and do year round long distance scouting for deer at the same time.

I'll be home. Made an agreement with the girlfriend I would save some weekends for her. Saw the forecast and said for you hunny I will miss opening day lol. Plus REI is having their garage sale this weekend. Figure I could pick up some good gear on the cheap. It's a win win for everyone. I will be out next weekend no matter what.

I shoot a chill. This will be my 3rd season hunting with it. I really became an archery fanatic though this year really getting into all aspects. Shoots fast and accurate.

I made them in the crock pot last year. They were good but I think I left them in to long and they basically became shredded vension. This year I will try them in the oven for 2-2 1/2 hrs and then char them up on the grill. Something about wasting meat and leaving them for the yotes just irks me so I am trying to find a way to make them so I have a go to recipe year after year. Last year I left the shanks while and made Oso Buco out of them. Never again will I grind a shank. Holy god they are good.

Nice haul!!! How do you store them and how long do they last for?

Something I would love to try and do, but I have a feeling I would mess something up and wind up curled up on a ball for a week after eating it.

One of these days a 45 70 will be mine.....

Yea figure it would help people find stands and also gives us something to look at and come up with game plans. Also the dry erase lets you change markings every time you move a stand or if something on the property changes.
-
Do you need to go there with a saved file or can they pull the photo right off google earth?
-
Can anyone recommend a good site/place to get an aerial photo of your hunting property blown up and laminated. We want to hand one on the wall at camp and be able to write on it with dry erase pens to mark stands and other land marks.

They keep playing the emotions of us down staters.....Bass pro was also supposed to up in Hemptstead, but haven't heard anything new on that either.

LOL....Had to laugh at that one

With apple picking season upon us, just curious if anyone on here does this. Seems like a fun fall project and it will be ready for deer camp!!

I'll figure it out when i see which way the wind blows

Sounds like they needed a new pair of draws too.

Hello All, Need some guidance regarding Garmin GPS and the topo maps. Whoever uses them, do you like the pre-loaded topo maps, or should I go with the version that doesn't have topo loaded and go with a 3rd party application. Also if anyone has used OnXMaps chips, does that have topo features loaded and how are they? Thanks! BK

Ozonics aren't meant to completely eliminate your odor. They are meant to use as part of your odor eliminating system. If you follow wired to hunt Mark Kenyon just went on a Montana white tail hunt where he used this item. He talks how coupled with his system the deer smelled something but not enough to spoke it out. You still need to be cognizant of reducing your odor trail and still hunt the wind in my opinion.

I have been looking into them too. Apparently very useful for hunting out west where you are very rarely shooting on flat ground.
-
Thank you all for the tips greatly appreciated. Would love to have them keep coming.

ADK, That area works. I was looking for something no more than 5-6 hrs and that seems to be about a 5 hour drive.
