  1. Id be all for tacking on a month of bow only after muzzleloader season. another month of gun would be a mess
  2. My buddy missed a big 8 last night, as it was trying to mount a doe. They are still going
  3. I shot my first deer ever way up in the Adirondack mountains about 3-4 miles from the nearest road. I was sitting on a log (not being quiet as kids tend to do when they start hunting). And this spike horn whom im sure had never seen a human before in his life walked up and stopped at about 8 yards, just looking at me trying to figure out what i was. . Needless to say he didnt last much longer =)
  4. No offense here dude, but irresponsible shots like that are why im against full inclusions.
  5. I personally dont care if someone wants to shoot penned deer. If thats what does it for you, go ahead. Now personally, I wouldnt enjoy it, so i choose to hunt wild deer. To each his own. Its still a free country, at least as long as we can fend off the progressive commie nut jobs that run this state, and are trying to turn it into 1900's Soviet Union
  6. The struggle is what makes it so sweet when you finally connect with the big one. Keep trucking, you'll get him eventually
  7. You can have 2 transferred tags, plus the 2 in the initial lottery puts you at 4. I also got 2 additional Bonus DMPS last week bringing my total to 6.
  8. They make it in several other calibers. my buddy has one in 45

Its a no issue witht he gun bc i shoot them as soon as i see the deer i want to take. with bow/xbow you have to be patient and setup for the right shot distance and angles
  10. i like that the string loop is silent, i usually replace it each yr though
  11. My gun will stack 150 grain bullets and shoot a 5 inch group at 00 with 165's. It seems to like the 150's, and they are plenty for deer
  12. my wife gets on my screenname sometimes, but doesnt really post just looks at it. nice to see more women in the sport
  13. its amazing the difference in rut timing across the state. Im hoping this weekends cold front gets them going. Goodluck out there everybody
  14. Just seeing what you guys are seeing out there as far as rut activity. I hunted hard this past weekend over places that have scrapes and rubs year in and year out, and im juts not seeing the buck sign on the mountain yet. A few other local spots have good scrapes and rubs, but it seems like things are a little behind this year. What r u guys seeing?
  15. ive had a scrape or two and a few rubs from early season, but they dont start getting active around me until end of october usually. keep the faith
  16. Im sorry but, the 80 pounder's are delicious, i just try and not take them if they look like buttons. If a mature doe and a 1 yr old fawn doe come by and i shoot the mature doe, the younger fawn is less likely to survive solo than the mature one would be if a shot the younger one.

    Doe blow

The deer get reallly confused when you do this
  18. Their are plenty of 200# deer in NY. Central NY farm deer and plenty of 3-4 year olds bucks and does in the adirondacks go over 200
