  1. I guess it would depend on the survival situation. Are we talking about some type of zombie apocalypse survival? Or you will be stranded in the woods for a month survival? Let's say you meant the stranded in the woods survival. I would have to say a .22 Mag would be my choice. A bit more power than the .22 LR, more accurate over 100 yards for those long shots, bullets are still small enough that you can carry a few hundred rounds and not be agonizing about it. Big enough to kill a deer but small enough that it won't completely destroy your squirrel for dinner.
  2. I would say save it for middle school health class at the earliest, that is when most kids start going through puberty and really begin to learn about their bodies. I would be really upset if one of my kids told me that is what they read in school. They should at least send home a permission slip so parents have the choice to opt their child out.
  3. We've had a lot of rain here (Central Cayuga County) but all of my crops are fine and my neighbors are fine too. Aside from a few wet spots where the water drains, but that's not a very big area. Most corn here is above the waist and when at my in laws in Branchport over the weekend I saw fields that were shoulder height or higher. Second growth has come in really well in my hay fields so it should still be pretty good. The corn could use a few weeks of hot days and warm nights though.
  4. Yeah, I just want to get my hay finished!
  5. Would like to get my hands on a pre 64 Winchester model 70 chambered in .257 Roberts, but would settle for one calibered in a cartridge suitable for deer.
  6. I assumed she got them from busting A$$ through briars and thorns escaping hunters. Maybe a close head shot attempt?
  7. My 5 year old loves helping me put the cameras out. He's looking forward to sitting in the blind again with me this year as well.
  8. I've had the cameras out all June and managed to get some decent pics. There wasn't a lot of buck action, but I'll take what I got. Switched out the cards today so we'll see what the next few weeks bring us.
  9. I've killed 1 deer with my 22-250 (Savage model 12FV). Shot it with a Sierra 63 grain SMP about 12 years ago. It was 110 lb doe around 175 yard heart shot. She was feeding in a field and had no clue, dropped in her tracks. I would give those bullets a shot.
  10. Glad everything worked out for you! Congrats on the new business and good luck. I went through a similar "downsize" last June. Fortunately I too had a plan B in progress. So after 13 years in the pharmaceutical industry, I'm back in school for engineering, fully compensated due to job loss. Bitter sweetness.
  11. Awesome pics! My grandparents had a milk snake haven at their house! I bet we would catch nearly a dozen every time we went there.
  12. Just got the 2015 Obsession Evolution. It's absolutely amazing! I've shot the Elite E32 and loved it too. I was really torn between the two. They both draw amazing, both shoot great, and the valley on both is incredible. I was leaning towards the Obsession and the final factor that made me go take the plunge was that I got a good price on the Obsession I couldn't pass up ($150 less than Elite). I have not shot the new Mathews and honestly have no interest. I would recommend the Obsession to anyone. The Elite would be my second choice.
  13. Here are some more pieces from Bushallows Taxidermy in Auburn.
  14. Set of 4 Firestone Destination MT tires mounted on Chevy 6 lug rims. Tires have about 3/16-1/4" tread left and the rims are in good condition. Rims come with center caps. Asking $300 or BO.
  15. Yale 2 ton pneumatic trolley hoist. Model KAL2-37PT9S3. Operating pressure of 90 psi and CFM is 71. Bought it at an auction to use in my shop but never set it up. Asking $600 or BO.
  16. Don't forget to give James at WK Custom bowstrings a call if you're in need of a new string. He is also a full archery pro shop and can do whatever is needed to your bow.
  17. Here she is! Now just need to finish getting it set up.
  18. I think as long as you shoot an arrow that is over 350 grains you will be fine. You could always shoot a heavier arrow if you notice you aren't getting the penetration that you want. My buddy that I hunt with shoots a 60 lb bow with 29" arrows that are about 370 grains. He shot 2 deer last year and had complete pass through's. One he shot quartering towards him and still got a complete pass through.
  19. THis isn't my first experience with the Evolution. I shot it last year and nearly purchased it then. I also shot the Sniper GT at the same time. I was so undecided between the two I just said I'd wait since it was the end of the summer at that point. I shot an indoor league over the winter and a few guys had obsessions. A 2014 Evo, Phoenix, and 2012 or 13 lethal force 2. I shot all of them. I shot a new breed eclipse, Elite E32, and PSE Dna. Only bow that came close to Obsession (IMO) was the Elite E32. If it wasn't for the price I got on the Evo, I may have purchased it instead. I will run it through the chrono after I have it set up. Should be here tomorrow or Friday, I'll have to check the tracking. I shoot 70lbs at 29" so we'll see how close to IBO it is.
  20. dealer in NY. Wilde hill archery in Auburn.
  21. I'm not sure if Dennis Lewis was from Bowtech. I know Kevin Strother helped Dennis out a few years ago when he got hurt. I believe Kevin did some work for Bowtech and some other companies.
  22. Just got word that my new bow will be shipped out this week...2015 Obsession Evolution. Can't wait to get it and dial it in! [emoji457]
