potrtable blind recommendation for bow hunting.
Culvercreek hunt club replied to brownclown's topic in Deer Hunting
That is going to be a tough order to fill, standing in a blind to shoot and having it be light enough to set up and take down for a single hunt. I think this is the tallest I have seen https://www.barronettblinds.com/Product/7463/big-mike-xt-hunting-blind-with-bloodtrail-backwoods-camo -

What’s your height? -
Arik, I belong to a group called QDMA. We have new hunter programs in some areas and trying to expand into others. There is a program called Field to Fork and may be a perfect opportunity for the fathers to take part in the year prior to taking the kids afield. There are also youth hunting programs as well. There are two branches in NJ and it may be worth reaching out to them and asking about the program https://www.qdma.com/new-jersey/ I will say you may be a little late to the party for this year unless you do take part in a "preserve hunt". As the others have said about the hunter education classes, they are all required as far as I know. Since most are taught by hunters they are as rare as hens teeth as the seasons are active in most states. The volunteer instructors are usually hunting.

Can I field dress a deer after an hour long car ride?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Core's topic in Deer Hunting
Temp depending, if you shoot one with an arrow and it runs off it could be hours before you recover it normally. Judge the temps and time and have at it. I wouldn't try in on those 89 degree days but with the weather I am seeing forecast I say go for it. -
I am trying to stay positive on this but am a bit disheartened. I thought that goal would have been hit already. We have just short of 1,100 page views, Only 99 shares and only 34 people contributed. It really was an eye opener when I read that $3,400 was donated at the sales point for licenses. That tells me NY is doing a crap job of promoting this. 500,000 licenses sold is the number I heard for hunting/fishing/trapping. the smallest amount you can donate in while buying your license is $1. If that was all that was donated, it's only 3,400 sportsmen/women (I just got out of an EEO and sexual harassment training so I figured I better write it that way...lol) supporting during that.

isn't that a right hand site?

Nice article about the program https://www.newyorkupstate.com/outdoors/2018/09/ny_program_that_gives_venison_donated_by_hunters_to_those_in_need_losing_money.html I will say that with No more NY State grants to help the program and the intake from donations while buying your license only at $3,300 STATEWIDE, this program could very easily go away without support. We are very close to our initial goal and could use the help. At this point every dollar donated up the $1,400 will be matched. that is a lot of help for the hungry.

personally if I was going to try and catch them on camera I would not cut the trees across. Like patterning a deer, let them use the trail they are sue to so you can get them on the camera If you move them to another spot who knows where to put the camera. I would make sure the posted signs are up and legal or you'll have to notify them in writing before the ticket will be issued.

Sorry to hear this Steve. I have never dislocated my shoulder but did my elbow. PT and pay attention to what they say. This season could be a wash but if not taken care of could effect you forever.

I covered some miles and the deer sign was a lot less than usual on the property I was on. No scrapes and very few rubs. Areas with trails that use to look like cow paths are not worn in. The bear sign is crazy though. After I shot mine about an hour later another one ran by a guy in our party and he couldn't get a shot. Saturday evening I was on a clover field and there was 4 does eating with a small 4 point buck. no chasing them and they were tolerating him fine. He was right in the middle of them all which I found odd given the chasing and fighting I have seen back home. -

Thanks, usually it is a "venison in the freezer" weekend with some does taken and 2 of our bears were shot in ML season opener so there is that hope too. -
Who's headed up and/or out for the Opening weekend? I'll be hitting the woods up in 5H. should be cool but I see rain for Saturday
