  1. 31 sets in. been kind of slow with all the rain though.
  2. Great work. This remains my favorite thread on the entire site.
  3. I have been waiting for Pnuma to come out with socks to match their vest, pants and hand muff. Still haven't yet. I have had great luck with the 8 hour hot hands insole foot warmers while I wait for Pnuma to put out a product. Only downfall is they are actually hot if you plan on doing a lot of walking during the day.
  4. Pipe Dream sets for both of the catches today. Must have been early morning catches since there were almost no catch circles. Partner had to walk to the set the fox was in becasue of the mud and not wanting to tear up the farm road. He had to wake the fox up to get it to stand. Sound asleep. Hopefully the cooler drier weather keeps them moving. Yes that is SNOW on the ground.
  5. Take a new hunter out. I can't tell you how it refuels that desire.
  6. Checks last week were very slow with the 5.5" of rain at the properties. Rebaited on the Saturday checks and got the first canine of the season Sunday morning. 34.6# male. everything is a muddy sloppy mess right now. Based on the one camera pic there should be a fox waiting for the check this AM.
  7. That is actually one we have been looking at. I really want to do a fly in or at least boat to a spike camp
  8. Anyone had any recent experience up there for moose with an outfitter they could recommend to steer me clear of?
  9. Well with the season opening yesterday we were back at it. 28 sets made between 9:30 and 3:00 pm. Fingers crossed that the weather gets better. We dodged the rain to get the sets in but it's rained ever since. We opted to use the waxed sand we made rather than the peat moss. We new it would be fairly warm but the wax sure does help hold the sets better with the rain. We are trying to find an old LARGE chest freezer. One that isn't working. We are toying with the idea of setting up a colony of beetles to process the skulls from the line and hopefully some deer skulls. So if anyone knows of one laying around, let me know. I'll post pics and highlights from the checks and sets. None from yesterday because it was balls to the wall to get the two properties set up in the time we had.
  10. I'm looking forward to unleashing the 458 SOCOM this year.
  11. I get that. Just that many say "AR" and immediately think of .223/5.56 when there are some really good deer calibers in the AR platform. AND I hate to hear "us" using the AR platform term as a negative when it is virtually no different functionally as the some of the classic deer drive semi's like I listed
  12. Welcome. Have you checked in with Cotton Hanlon Timber company? I lease from them and that area had many properties
  13. Yeah. That's my issue. I have used the 22-250 on nuisance does in open fields and it was never an issue. HOWEVER, if I get a deer in the woods and it is giving me a quartering to shot, I want a bullet and caliber I KNOW will go through the shoulder and expend energy in the vitals with enough left over to get and exit hole.
  14. Why? What if they all had Remington 740's and Winchester 100's?
  15. if you ever want to be able to fit more in the jars, I cook the squash all the way down prior to canning.
  16. Welcome. Try https://www.deerassociation.com/new-york/ Black Dirt Branch
  17. if you have a kitchen aid mixer this attachment works great. I use it for jelly, jam and sauce. Bet it would work great for the grapes. https://www.kitchenaid.com/countertop-appliances/stand-mixers/attachments/p.fruit-and-vegetable-strainer.ksmfvsp.html
  18. Might use this year to actually make a run at some rats at a $5 average.
  19. go buy your muzzleloader tag and you'll get an antlerless only tag.
  20. I am all right handed (useless with my left) and severely left eye dominant. If I shoot both eyes open I only see the side of the barrel. SO I shoot with my left eye closed unless I am shooting trap, skeet or sporting clays. When doing that I have small static "dots" that I can put on the lens in line of sight in front of my left eye. This keeps my peripheral vision but makes my right eye register looking down the barrel.
  21. I've seen these scabbards built out of wood as well. https://www.amazon.com/Kolpin-Universal-Saw-Press-20044/dp/B000VVSRKI/ref=asc_df_B000VVSRKI/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309804735743&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3770270132074001586&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9005660&hvtargid=pla-627391744752&psc=1
  22. I put op the 12x10 of these for a utility shed and it works great. Pricier but OH door, man door and sides. https://www.ecanopy.com/search.html?searchTerm=murryhill storage shed - flute grey
  23. My favorite thread on the entire site. Thanks for what you do.
