  1. I believe most of the hair comes from being cut while making incisions, not loose hair. I have found that the hair can really be minimized if the incisions are made from under the skin with the sharp edge of the blade pointing out. This leaves the hair and follicle in tact and attached. What small amount of hair does and up on the meat, we hit quickly with a propane torch and POOF it is gone.
  2. Separate. Crosscut of the muscles that you separate out this way for cutting steaks will always give you the best results.
  3. I an only imagine. I grew up hunting rabbits and hares with hounds. Love to her that in the woods.
  4. There is a weapons for all hunting styles. In New York the tradition of deer drives is dying. In a state like Virginia where deer can be run with dogs, I can see a use for buckshot. Like anything we use, it has a place and is lethal when used within its capability. I guess no difference than running rabbits with a dog or pheasant hunting, I wouldn't select a 22 for that purpose. But I have stalked and still hunted many a bunny with a 22. As is normal we shy away from and judge what we aren't familiar with. I don't think running deer with dogs would be my cup of tea but I wouldn't mind d trying it once to find out. I tried the bear over bait thing and it was ok, not something I would repeat. If it's legal I would give it a whirl.
  5. I use the 4007SSC (short cut) in the '07 and 270 Win Meters pretty well
  6. I hunt property back home near a fairly large Amish group. Calls have been made to DECK and nothing was ever done. I personally have seen u tagged deer and bucks shot in the spring
  7. I have checked the dippers with the scale. Pretty consistent except for long cylindrical powder. If you are going to dip the powder though I would suggest getting the lee manual. Is is set up with info for dipper / grain info for the different powders
  8. I knew the old guy in the forum would recognize that press. Lol
  9. I was told the opposite. Never mind Muzzleloader privilege is not required when hunting with a crossbow during the early bear season or the regular firearms seasons. And that was conveyed to me by DEC
  10. Had never seen that before, but that would be good news...lol PS I would like the "or more" part to be true
  11. word of advice. Insult the heck out of the roof or it will be raining inside as soon as you crank up the stove. LOL First year we had our cabin we went into the season with the roof insulated and worked on it after the days hunts. it would literally rain on your dinner plate.
  12. They will shoot anything with no regard to season. Everything is open 365 days a year. (maybe Sunday excluded)
  13. last night I came across two massive scrapes with very large prints in them. First time I have seen this, but it was done on the corn. Right at the base of the stalks and about 3' in diameter and the stalks above it were shredded. No over hanging branches.
  14. the only thing that I can think of that would hurt the dies would be corrosion. From the pics they look pretty clean. If it were me and the dies looked good, I would hold the ones you are going to use and clean up and sell the rest of the stuff. Might be worth something to someone that is into older equipment. The lead pot(I think) and molds for sure. a new or even a newer used single stage press can be had pretty reasonable and you wouldn't have to question if it is ok. what type of '06 you reloading for? couple things you should look for: Powder scale. calipers case trimmer chamfer tool and primer pocket cleaner I also don't see where that press can prime so you may need a priming tool.

  16. Even if this is only a dream, I don't want to wake up. What is the saying about if something sounds too good to be true?
  17. http://www.dailyfreeman.com/general-news/20141020/man-accidentally-shoots-son-with-arrow-while-hunting-in-columbia-county
  18. Just read of a guy that got shot by his father during bow. I'll see if I can find the link
  19. Ballistic gel tests with 00 buck out to 40 yards. 30% recovery in an 8"x8" target. not bad.
  20. http://www.frfrogspad.com/shotgun.htm interesting that they say the 00 buck would perform between a 32ACP and a 380 ACP. Best I can tell at 200 yards they would have to aim about 8 feet over the target to impact and in this report anyway, on a human sized target there was NO pellets that even hit a human sized target at 75 yards.
