  1. When I was looking at loads to compare to in reloading my 308 for the pistol, I think I remember some of them stating that the impact point at 100 really didn't end up changing. The performance was about equal to a 30-30 and capable of taking deer inside 200 yards. I think they went with flat nosed bullets because of the slower velocities. I believe the '06 was comparable in the reduced recoil loads. Might want to invest in a really good butt pad as well.
  2. Good friend of mine has had long tracks on bucks using them and it shouldn't have been. Both bucks should have been dead in a short while. Both bucks were recovered, luckily. In both cases the shot was a broadside quartering away. at the near side rib contact both rage blades snapped off leaving pin prick exit hole. Since we are on the Rage topic,. Has anyone heard what the DEC's take is on the NEW 3 blade Rage design? Rage feels it isn't a barbed broadhead like the last 3 blade was ruled.
  3. does it mount over the stud for the stabilizer?
  4. I have personally seen 4 deer on the scales at over 200. One was my NZ 12 pointer at 205. But in the Op Deerthug was giving commentary like a fighter with live weights I assume. This time of year (pre-rut) 200 on the hoof isn't a stretch at all for a good 31/2 year old in good habitat. The deer in my Avatar was shot that last weekend of ML in SZ. I think that one was 187. Pre rut it was probably pushing 200.
  5. If they are close enough to spray them, then they got too close...lol
  6. Keep you fingers crossed that the corn comes down before the season. I guarantee it is holding many deer right now and if the does stay there, the buck will be focusing on it too.
  7. It is one deer only. States in the question and answer.
  8. Almost looks like a manged skin. Sure is weird looking.
  9. A must have for a hunting pack http://www.amain.com/Tamiya-TS-1-Red-Brown-Lacquer-Spray-Paint/p27855?utm_source=Google-Base&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Product-Feeds&gclid=CLerhNn2osECFYMF7Aodu3oALg Eliminates those pesky white spot.
  10. Did you get that from the DEC? I imagine that there wasn't much traffic on this because I can't imagine doing it. Seems like you would spend more time looking for arrows than shooting at ducks...lol.
  11. another good read. they have provided a chart that in GENERAL gives you a peek at what a specific buck can produce for a rack. A lot of variables though. http://www.qdma.com/articles/will-he-be-a-good-one-next-year
  12. I agree but have to be honest. Where I come from at some of the areas are very thick and not much room. would be easy to rip it off. I don't put it on until I hit a good trail or the road. I know to the letter I am wrong but I have spent hours trying to find a ripped off tag once. Can't remember the year but I know it was a GREEN tag....lol
  13. I actually use two zip ties. one through the hole and then around the tag to the antler, ear or hock so it isn't flapping in the breeze driving it home. Always scared it will rip through.
  14. the tag must be filled out as soon a the kill. not dragging or gutting. fill the tag out. It does not have to be attached until you reach the point of transportation but must stay with the deer. (example---in you pocket). They give you this consideration so it doesn't become lost while dragging the deer.
  15. Get well soon. For something that we don't need that little thing can sure mess you up. And NO, Pygmy. I wasn't talking about the Mermaid. LOL
  16. http://www.capitalnewyork.com/article/albany/2014/10/8553530/cuomo-administration-edited-and-delayed-key-fracking-study interesting read. I had no idea they were considering another salt storage facility for NG after the one in Avoca went belly up. That one failed when they couldn't get the sand layer in the disposal wells to accept the volume of salt solution that was going to be produced during the cavern construction.
  17. Skip them. warm and in the gut pile. Also, animals probably found them already
  18. WNY, You have camo burlap around the stands? Might help
