Wow I have been out of town. I sure missed a bunch. I ca't agree more Doe. BOTH parties are a big steaming pile. The issue for me in the voting process though is trying to select the lesser of two evils. Which side will just have the country slide down the slope as opposed to falling off a cliff. Great choice we have. I find myself just trying to sift through and find the which candidates at least SAY that they share some thoughts that believe in.

Pistol becomes a Rifle?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Moosemaple's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Santamour...have you read the batf's July 2011 determination letter? Let's see how they respond to WNY's question. -
Just a thought. I actually prefer a .30-06. If you are new and don't know where this hunting will take you down the road it would be a good gun for any North American big game animal (except probably Grizz). You can load up and load down depending on the quarry. I have shot some of the reduce recoil rounds and they are pussycats to shoot. I would imagine would even be nicer out of an outo loader. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the cartriges based on the .30-06 or .308 they are all proven rounds for whitetail. I would look at cost and ammo availability since you don't reload.

Oh Virgil, I just knew you would show up here in time. First I have yet to see Early provide any type of points other than the views of many here are wrong or as you put it narrow and misguided. Many of the liberal views are rejected right away. you know why? because they are in direct contradiction to the values and upbringing that many hold true. Second I NEVER said I or anyone that holds the same thoughts and values as me are stewards of patriotism or family values but I can assure you that Liberals are not. it is directly contradictory to their beliefs. Anyone that comes on a huntinfg or gun owners website and voices a contradictory view should expect resistance. If I had any desire to go on PETA's websitte and discuss hunting and trapping I would certainly think that I would be treated in the very same way. But voicing a contradictory view is not bad and back it up with facts. To stroll in and take a view that those on here are knucle dragging beasts isn't the way to get you view understood.

Don't worry, Skillet. Libs, progressives, free thinkers or what ever they call themselves always resort to some diversion arguments or immediately stray off topic because their beliefs hold no water in the real world. Truth is a Libs worst enemy followed closely by logic. They just ca'nt get their minds around concepts like patriotism, family and values

Welcome to the site. There are a lot of members here that can be a big help. I think the suggestion to join a fish and game club or a shooting club is a great one. Face to Face I think is best for someone so new. Just keep in mind when asking any questions , especially from hunters, that everyone has a different opinion. listen, evaluate and see what works for you. But most of all ,,,, Enjoy the sport. I can be one of the most rewarding and frustrating things you have ever done , often in the same day..lol

seems like the .308 platform would give you the most versatility. varmit to big game.

Welcome to the site. I grew up hunting over bluetick hounds running whites up north. really miss the sound of those dogs.

And couple it with a season with practially no snow. I really think deer losses go up in years with little or no snow. Evidence of a hit is much easier to see and then follow up on with a couple inches of the white stuff.

polaris winch problems
Culvercreek hunt club replied to ants's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
I have a 2001 500 sportsman and the dealer mounted my in the water proof area under the seat towards the back . Mine looked like it was up in there but the wires go under the seat area nd into the waterproof storage area Check the engage dial on the winch itself. I have had this happen when it got bumped and wasn't all the way in operate or freespool. It worked one way and not the other but I can't recall which. -
in the fluffy snow they may look big. the whole set of prints is each the size of your hand. the two bigger prints forward and to the outside on yours are actually the back feet. the two smaller ones are where the front feet hit.

Hunting Blind
Culvercreek hunt club replied to BigGuyNY's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
The two box blinds I made this past year we didn't even use a bracket. We had th eoutside of the platform rimmed with 2x6. On the inside of the 2x6 we nailed 3/4" firring. that set a perfect tip to the legs and then just used carriage bolts to through bolt the 4x4 legs to the frame. added diagonal bracing on the leg and there you go. I did a whole box blind (not counting roofing) for under 100 bucks. one is up on 4' legs and our other is only on 2' legs but I did one at a buddies on 8' legs and it is rock solid. -
You know better than that!...you aren't allowed to mix religion and politics..lol Here is a good one though. I was just told by my daughter than no one in school stands during the Pledge of Allegance. I almost flipped my wig since I have taught her better than that. Everyone get mad at me but I am the guy that will tell someone to take off their hat during the National Anthem. I asked her why she didn't stand and she said she can't. school starts with no homeroom it is right to your first class. the Pledge is recited by the office announcements DURING a class and the teachers just keep talking and teaching through it. I feel like I want to puke.

Welfare
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Skillet's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Early that is truely noble and commendable. And I too have contributed to charities of my choosing and have spent my time in similar service. But you know what both of our efforts have in common. They are by our choosing. That really is how it should be. You have to admit that many here have brought up many instances where many think the system is abused and of itself is part of the problem. Your responses have been right down the line of the extreme left. If you oppose the entitlement programs you have a cold heart and want to see children and elderly starving in the streets. How about contributing. Show us where we are wrong in expecting able bodied to be responsible for their own actions. Show me the error in my ways -
Welfare
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Skillet's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Early- Is it cold and dark expecting able folks to be responsible for themselves...is it cold and dark to insist that people take responsibility for their actions...is it cold and dark to believe a woman should not be rewarded for not being able to keep her legs together. Is it cold and dark wanting to have a say in how my hard earned money is spent on "charity"..is it cold and dark to think the liberals have a more self serving interest int these programs than helping people...is it cold and dark to think social programs steal self esteem and pro.ores a culture of laziness....if that is dark and cold then I wear that badge with pride. Just for clarification....what programs have you or your family taken advantage of? -
Great lookign mount. I love the white on the chest. From what I am told only 5% have white on the chest and having a big V is even less.

It was a one of the things they shouldn't be spending money on IF they are taking a handout from us. If you can afford those you don't need us -

And suspending someones rights is NOT a new concept. It is curren'tly done with those serving time (except in Maine and Vermont) and most states through any parole period. I think there are/were a few states that would NEVER let a convisted felon vote again. Now i am sure someone will twist this into me comparing a welfare recipient to a felon. I am not. I am just using this as an example of how rights could be set aside. Now they don't have to have their rights set aside. just go get a job and put your hand back in your own pocket rather than someone elses What welfare has become is has been a death blow to those using the benefit. It breeds dependence and rewards irresponsibility....and that is just the way the Liberals like it. -
I really like him. i have been following him since his run in Florida. He has is act together. i wish he had a few more years under his belt. I would have like to see him run against BO By the way. Did you catch Hillary (Communist Rep from NY) Clinton's comment “Anyone, anyone found to have participated or know about it, having engaged in such conduct, must be held fully accountable,” Hillary Clinton said yesterday, calling the incident a “potential war crime.”
