But, you might be able to restrict the damage they can cause if they were not able to get their hands on high capacity weapons Or, maybe the perpetrator in this case would have had the pistol and been able to kill dozens of people instead of one. Flip a coin, right? I guess I took those comments as a reference to a multiple shooting. that was the argument the anti-s put forth with thier push for restrictions after Columbine. So are you telling me you would rather put your fate in the bad guy over someone that legally owns a gun and is intent on stopping the crime? I would trust you with a gun trying to stop a murder a lot more that putting my unarmed fate in the perp's hands.

Elmo...you gotta get your ears checked. You mean to tell me you didn't hear him say he was going to kill you?
-
Sorry but if you are in my house you ARE the initial agressor. Straight form an officer's mouth as advise for home protection. make sure they are in your house and make sure you kill them

Or, maybe the perpetrator in this case would have had the pistol and been able to kill dozens of people instead of one. Flip a coin, right? Coluld be. but if I have one my fate is in my hands. not standing waiting for the police to arrive. When you look at the multiple shootings that you keep refering to, has any of them had a victim in possession of a firearm? a CCW? I am not busting balls I am really wondering. dont want to sound too morbid but I can't help but think that more bad guy body bags would not be a bad thing.

2012 Election
Culvercreek hunt club replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Unfortunately it is too early in his political career but I would have loved to see Allen West run again BO. -
Virgil. I am getting a case of de' ja vous...lol. I understand your stance. I don't share it but I understand it. What is your position on the actual criminal themselves. I think the criminals being on the streets are our problem and the system does not do enough to ensure they never see the light of day again. Ask the family of the woman stabbed in Alba walmart barking lot by the illegal alien....I am betting they see no difference in the result of the knife used. I would arue though that had she had training and a HIGH capacity mag pistol the outcome might have been different. One mom goes home and two criminals to the morgue in stead of how it turned out. I guess my point is criminals are criminals. if we could take all the guns in the world and destroy them there would just be crimes cimmitted with knives.

Virgil, I would agree that today is much different that it was way back then. In many cases it is far worse. But I can't agree with your statement- "the real question is whether the 'rights' of a few of us who like owning high capacity guns should be more important than public safety. " I don't think our legal gun ownership of guns with capacities over 5 is a threat to public safety. The threat to public safety is the criminals not the law abiding folks that choose to own a pistol with a clip of 8 or more.

4" blade with an antler handle. Not sure what make it is. I have cleaned caribou, bear, whitetail and lots of small game. Small enough to get in tight places and I have never felt like I needed a bigger blade. It was my Father's knife and since I was 10 I have been gutting all his deer so he gave it to me...lol

Do you think that the Livingston County Sherrif that had his pistols stolen from his duty vheicle had his pistols listed as nuisance because they were stolen? http://www.13wham.com/news/local/story/Sheriff-Yorks-Guns-Stolen-Handgun-Taser-Recovered/JXmvlMYwxUuF_24fo82arQ.cspx I am betting they weren't. -
Congrat Geno. I hope it is everything you want it to be.

Other than the legal definition? So following your steadfast logic. Hunting around farm fields is no different than baiting too

WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?

Holler any time and I am sure there are any number of folks that would be willing to rid you of those pesky critters.....simmered in italian stewed tomatoes until it falls off the bone and served over rice.....mmmmmm -
I think in a nutshell, bait is a concentrated feeding area. I think the ban on all feeding of deer has it's roots in the CWD scare. I believe it can be transmitted by saliva.

I guess the sticker shock of any sabots never really bothered me. I didn't do a lot of target shooting with that shoulder breaker so after the initial sight in or verification of a couple rounds prior to season ...how many times are you going to shoot in a year. -

WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Robinson446's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I have now idea if it is an ole' wives tail or not but I have always been told the rabbits run in 7 year cycles. It has been quite a few years since I hunted them but when I did there always seemed to be a few bad years followed byt a couple alright then a couple great and back down again. I know it is showing my age but that even was noticed before the predator expolsion of recent years. -
At what point do you feel something......
Culvercreek hunt club replied to First-light's topic in Deer Hunting
I have felt emotion after taking a deer. or any animal, i guess. I can look back at different times since I was 8 and first walking into the woods deer hunting with my father. I remember the first deer i ever saw shot that year and it was a doe. Dad had taken a fast walking broadside shot and hit her across the front of the chest. It took her front feet out from under her and she was pushing her chest like a sled across the snow and giving out a hair raising blat. I didn't go back out again that season. I guess that was the 8 yo reaction. That one made me very sad and question my interest in hunting. Dad didn't force me but I was back at it with him the next year After taking a lot of deer over 30 years of hunting I don't feel remorse or guilt. I feel something but until this thread never really tried to find a word to describe it. I guess it is more a feeling of reflection. a feeling of thankfulness that i was successful and able to do something I love. For me the intensity of these feelings vary by situation as well. With a group hunting I don't think it is as strong. But If I am out bowhunting by myself and have no one around from the hunt to the drag it seems to strike me stronger. -

I actually got a good deal on my pistol at the last one. I tried to deal on Saturday but no dice. He took the offer on Sunday though. I only live minutes from there so it really isn't a big deal to run back over. I am going to be looking for a .38 this time. There were tons of them at the last show. I have been picking up stuff like the cleaning supplies. There are good deals and ones that aren't. Gotta know the market on anything you want to buy. I will Be going on Saturday, WNY. I think Dad is coming out so that is the day that works best for him. -
Just a heads up all. It is January 7th and 8th.

gravel/rock drive way question.. price? Otsego
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Geno C's topic in General Chit Chat
Geno. THe Marafi 600X geofabric should be $0.09 /sf for material. the roll is 12'-6" wide so you won't hav to worry about lapping material unless you go wider. If you overlap the lap should be 2'. . Labor shouldn't be more than $0.05 /sf- you are looking at around $170 to put the fabric under the stone.
