Can't tell with the picture resolution. I tried viewing on photoshop but no luck. I have seen bear cross an open field middle of the day in the summer. Put a cam down there if its a bear he will be back for sure. GL

Good for you Bubba, $1,500/acre is great. Enough money to buy a new place and some spare change to live of off. Have fun with the place and good luck hunting it.

ATV Features & Purposes
First-light replied to Doc's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
I have a King Quad 400 and love it. Enough power to rely handle anything I need and brand new it didn't break the bank. The kids like to ride it around the property. For me it is there to pull a wagon full of fire wood or stone. Use it to pull deer out of the woods. It was very useful when my father inlay was alive, he was handicapped and had a hard time walking. We would drive right up to the hunting blind with him on it. Now that I have a trail mower hooked up to it I can see having power steering would be a plus. My arms and hands are shot after an hour or two making turns. It still looks the way it came out of the showroom 5 years ago. The only thing I would like to add but never gotten around to is those neat carrying racks for the front or back. I get tired of strapping on a milk crate with bungie cords. lol -
Those of you who are of the age will remember this classic………and it will always be a classic! https://www.facebook.com/100000340756148/videos/795664280454923/?fref=nf

Just a little update on my original post. I have two family members that own delivery routes on Long Island. Martin Potato bread and the other Stella D'oro/Hostess. They both do extremely well and the hours are really great if you are an early bird, which I am. The bread route is more demanding that is a given. I decided to buy a Pepperidge Farm snack route on the Island. I start in two weeks training with the owner and it should be mine by June. Very excited about this and looking forward to some decent hours, working for myself and no commute.

Cols last night…..brrr!

This is true Doc. Its a slippery slope we make for ourselves. Feeding can open up a lot of questions down the road.
-
This year on Long Island the wetlands where frozen for a long period of time. The public was allowed to feed the waterfowl because starvation was setting in and that's all I'm going to say about that. lol

I guess trying to figure out the carrying capacity of a certain area is tough. Snow depth plays a big part of the picture along with available food source. For those of you who strictly trophy hunt and pass on the small ones, does this make you think twice? Not trying to start a battle just asking a legit question if leaving tags unfilled benefits the heard? Think about passing a scrub 4 point that makes it through the season only to eat the browse a button buck (with great genes) losses out to and starves to death,…..the circle of life!

Tough video but something we all have to be aware of. What area was the video made in wooly? This winter sucked no question about that.
-
Over in 8P we have a good coating of snow and more coming…….

exactly what happened to me and a few thousand others in the last 5 years at Time Inc. Next big layoff comes right before they move downtown in October. My former coworkers have a doom and gloom cloud hanging over them, it sucks to work this way.

I took out a package of venison steaks (cutlets) pounded them and fried for two minutes each side. I was lucky enough to get a tub full of my sister in laws homemade apple sauce last weekend. Had the steak with the apple sauce and it was great! There is something about mixing fruit and venison together that brings out a great taste. My stew always has apples and pears in it.

I saw this first hand at my processor a few years ago. DEC was there logging in all the deer that were and would be processed. I asked the owner where they looking for violations and he said no they will check who reports their deer or not.

In between jobs right now, I was cutting firewood all day, it was a good day with no distractions!

Teens early 20's I had to be out there 24/7. Nothing got in the way and hate to say it some bad decisions were made. Now at 52 I look at hunting as a privilege, the little place I can get away to that lets me be and lets me choose what I want to kill! Sure opening weekend is pretty sacred but all other weekends have their place.

I was headed over tom my brother in laws house to watch the Ranger game on Thursday. I was just outside of Savona and saw this huge Tom. What caught my eye was how big and deep red his head was, a huge body to follow. that was some trophy for sure.
