  1. Yup... all correct. Haha And CRICK... boy did I ever get ridiculed in the military for that word! I was the 'hillbilly' from NY.
  2. Might be creditable... GREAT area to hunt! Time will only tell.
  3. x2 Biggest deer I ever shot using a bow found me in full B/O coveralls. He never knew I was there - cuz' he was hot on the trail of a small doe.
  4. Years ago I had a doe come running toward my stand and drop dead about 50 yards in front of me. She laid there for about an hour and nobody came looking for her. I gutted her out and let her lay while I hunted for a buck. About 3 hours passed and a hunter in BO came walking through the woods. He was from NJ and said he had not seen a deer all week and was leaving for NJ in the morning. I told him about the doe... he asked if he could tag it and take it home. I never saw him again, but he couldn't wait to take that doe home. I have no idea who shot at that deer... another 'Oh I guess I missed' mentality verses one of following up on your shot.
  5. YOUR BUCK (I love this phrase... NOBODY 'owns' a deer on the hoof - unless it is in a private pen or was purchased) is still walkin' by the looks of things. Those are two different deer.
  6. Ohhhhh that Texas Hollow land is in a great place to hunt! I'd like to get in on that lease...
  7. Congratulations Mike! You breathing normal yet? Hehehehe
  8. Congrats! Looks like he's a big-bodied guy - big to me anyway for being a big-woods deer.
  9. HOLY SMOKE... What a buck! What part of Steuben WNY?
  10. Atta' boy papa... better luck next time!
  11. So if you are an old coot ,tell us about yourself. How old are you. I'm 65. Do you hunt as much today as you did when you were younger? No,,, my legs are close to having a 100,000 miles on them, and I don't know their shelf-life. So I take it kind of easy now. Do you hunt every day? Yes... for my glasses, teeth, hearing aids, etc. Oh wait- you probably mean in the woods! Not anymore - I'm one of those 'fair weather' dudes now. Do you walk in to your stand or do you ride in ?. I walk! And the mountain I hunt is 500' higher than the valley floor. What season or seasons do you hunt when deer hunting ? I LOVE Archery Hunting... gun season not so much What other seasons do you hunt? Summer - Swimsuit season at the lake! I hunt turkeys too.
  12. That's what I do Eddie regarding my ladder stand... and I'm not real comfortable about it. I've got to get me a Lifeline.
  13. Don't forget... property taxes get mailed RIGHT after the 1st of the year. Sorry...
  14. If more hunters were charged with manslaughter (or attempted manslaughter if the victim did not perish), jailed for a few years, loss of hunting privileges for life and fined $10,000 or more - perhaps accidental shootings would stop.
  15. I've been seriously considering getting one of those 'lifeline' ropes with the prusic knot. I agree... it is dangerous getting in/out of the stand w/o anything holding you should you slip. And being 65, I must agree my climbing strength ain't what it use to be - even though I'd sometimes like to think it was.
  16. Atta' girl Paula... best of luck to ya' gal.
  17. Great thread! I tell my wife there's no place I'd rather be on earth than in the autumn woods, archery hunting. It's the closest to God I've ever felt and I hope in Heaven I get to smell autumn everyday.
  18. Nice buck... may I be your buddy too?
