  1. Nice deer... Where about in schoharie? I have property in Richmondville and my uncle has land in Carlyle.
  2. Nice... Post some pics when it starts to come in!
  3. Phase... The cam is incredible... I didn't know that they pick up sound as well?
  4. Beautiful deer... I would love to sit on my deck and see that in the morning.
  5. Doc... Why do you have such a hang up about those that choose to improve their land and habitat for deer hunting?
  6. I have a half acre of clover directly next to the pond and cam up now. I'm checking the cam roughly every 3 to 4 weeks and averaging 500 pics of deer and turkey. There in there all day long. This is my first year with clover and I can't believe the draw it has!
  7. I'm running five cameras on 72 acres and I still feel I could use a few more. There's four food plots, an old overgrown apple orchard I'm slowly taking back control of, a one acre pond, and several oaks. Like I stated before, I have to rely a lot on trail cams because I am so far away. I find that deer patterns definately change from one weekend to the next.
  8. For those that have access to private land, how many cameras do you feel necessary per acreage?
  9. I would think it becomes tougher when hunting multiple properties and even tougher on state land when they could also be stolen. Although I had someone steal a camera last year on my own property. It becomes real tough to monitor when you are 200 miles away!
  10. Thanks... I felt like he was being honest when speaking with him. He told me that he usually averages 7 to 8 bears for the 12 hunters in camp every year. I'm going up with my uncle and a friend so I'm hoping at least one of us comes home with a bear...hopefully it's me! Lol
  11. Dan woods ... Woodys guide service
  12. Sounds like a great time... Enjoy it!!!
  13. Great pics wooly...the season will be here before we know it!
  14. I booked with Dan Woods from Woodys Guide service. I've never seen a bear in the woods while hunting so it's definately going to be tough to judge size. Dan has been sending me trail cam pics which are definetely a big help. He's also been getting a lot of moose on the cams as well. I'd love to see that while in my stand.
  15. Bear with bait. I would love to do hounds but they don't start running the dogs til mid-September and I would never be able to take a week off from teaching. Still can't wait to go...my first guided hunt.
  16. I'm leaving for a bear hunt in Maine the last week of August. Can't wait!!!
  17. Phase, do you own your own land? I'm curious as to what you think about farm equipment and the intrusion of people doing work on food plots? As crazy as this sounds, do deer come accustomed to this type of interruption and realize that there will eventually be a food source for them?
  18. Wooly, you might be the deer whisperer!
  19. Being that my cameras are about 200 miles away I check them about once a month.
  20. Looks great Joe!!!! Deer must be hammering those fields! I would also think that the size of the field also makes it tough to hunt?
