Right, but that doesn't mean that he has the money or assets to pay in a civil lawsuit.

Yes, but OJ Simpson obviously had money at the time. I doubt that Zimmerman has any money or real assets? Does he even own a house?

How does an average person pay for the legal bills in situations like these? I always thought that the lawyers worked pro bono in these particular cases and the fact that there name was out in the media was goo enough.

At what point then is the right to defend yourself justifiable in a "right to carry" state?

I liked how the prosecution said that it was not a racially motivated case and the first witness that they called (an african american women) stated that Martin told her some "cracker" was following him. She also stated that she thought there was nothing wrong with that term. Other than that, I do not know too much of the details, however, I do know that many kids today have a sense of entitlement. Many of no respect for authority or elders. I was at a pizza place last week and a teenager spilled soda on his phone. He screams "fuck", knocks his plate off the table, and storms out. Where is the respect?

That's a lot of money to drag out a deer!!!! Why not put the deer on the back cargo rack of the quad??? My uncle used a plastic sled for the longest time and I think it cost him 6 bucks. Or you could do it the old fashioned way and drag the deer out yourself... I bet a lot people would be much more selective in what they harvest if they knew they were dragging by hand. Lol

Definately exciting to see...being that I've never seen one. Lol... I can't wait for my first black bear hunt this August in Maine!

While there is no excuse to not read the DEC Hunting Magazine which clearly states that feeding/baiting of deer is illegal, I can somewhat understand those that still do not know. We are surrounded by advertisements, magazines, television shows that explain the benefit, and local stores that still sell it! I just posted in another thread how I was recently ordered seed from WI and they included two bags of minerals without my knowledge. Why would they include that knowing that I live in nys? Why does my local agway in cobleskill have 3 shelves dedicated to the sale of an illegal product? I am we'll aware that someone can by it here and then drive to New Jersey or Pennsylvania to use it, but why can't they just by it in their local store? It simply boils down to money. Those products take in huge profits and the dec then makes more money when they ticket the poor smuck that was using it! Sorry for the rant...

Now those sound good!

Good for my deer "herd"?
Pav2704 replied to josephmrtn's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I am we'll aware that minerals and supplemental feeding of deer is illegal in ny. However, everything I read suggests that minerals at the right time can be so beneficial to antler growth, lactating does, and the stresses of a harsh winter. Is cwd still an issue here in ny? Are there many others states that ban all aspects of supplemental feeding? On a side note... I recently ordered oats and winter peas from whitetail institute and when I received the package they included two five pound bags of 30-06 minerals. I'm pretty sure that they know its illegal in nys so why throw it into my order for free? -
Hey grow... If I want to plant clover this fall am I better off frost seeding in march or can I seed late August? Will it take in time for the season?

What's going on with my food plot

Hard to tell without a soil test. I simply think the clover was planted way too late and the brassica was way too early. I would get a soil test, retill the plot and plant brassica in about a month. Should be perfect for the season. Then go back to plot mid march and frost seed the clover. Depending on the size of the plot and deer numbers it should be bare dirt by then. Clover will come in nicely the following year. -
Agreed... If it was my children there would not have been any attempts at negotiations.Glad all went well for that family... I could not imagine what that mother must have been feeling. That's why I always stress to my kids to stay by my side. You never know what could possibly happen in this crazy world!

I usually wait till the first week of August for most of my annuals including the brassica. I planted my clover the last week of march but most here would recommend planting clover the end of August so that it has a better chance of developing. -
Fields look great!!! Only 25 acres... Lol

I actually just enlarged and printed the pic. It looks like a pretty decent size blood blister. Not sure if they could develop something like that from a tick bite? Could very well be the bullet working its way out? Not sure...

It really is amazing how they can deal with injuries like these and survive. Last year I saw a button buck that must have been shot across his face. He had a nice scab across his check and his one ear was hanging barely on.
