  1. I was wondering if someone could give me a few tips on planting corn. Im going to be planting next weekend and I have RR corn that I got from NWTF. I also have one of those manual seeders. I was curious about spacing of rows, when to fertilize and what type, and when I should spray round up? Thanks
  2. Here's a pic of the venison ribs that I am smoking this morning.
  3. I bought a charcoal smoker from home depot years ago. Its a brinkman I think and it cost about $50. The smell and flavor that the charcoal grills give is unbelievable!!! For the price, it cant be beat. If you want to spend some money you can get the "Green Egg". Both are excellent, but for the difference in price I would definately go with the brinkman from home depot.
  4. Congratulations on the bird and the pics are incredible as usuall!!!
  5. Another great pic. You should really think about putting together a book of these great shots.
  6. Incredible pics and what an encounter!!!
  7. Not a bad sit!!! Im heading upsate memormial day weekend with the family. Going to set up a blind and bring my daughter with me for the first time. Hoping to see something with her!!!
  8. Not real sure where that is but I'm off Rt. 7 on harroway road near the grumpy buffalo farm.
  9. Welcome pwgunny! Where about in Richmondville? I just bought land last year there as well.
  10. The righting is definately on the wall!!! The public has spoken loud and clearly yesterday with a resounding "YES". As a Long Island teacher, who values the education of his students, I greatly appreciate the sacrifices that the hard working men and women make every year by voting in their school budgets. I am well aware that in voting for a "YES" budget can be difficult for some. Through this understanding, many teachers' unions across the island took step and pay freezes because in the end, we truly wanted what was best for our students! I can only hope that our government continues to place value in the education system and give school districts their fair share of state aid. Thank you again to the majority who made sacrifices for your child's/communities education and voted "YES"
  11. I couldn't agree more!!! My first was a 97 ford escort. Two weeks later I wrapped it around a flat bed truck that ran a red light because the sun was in his eyes!!! congrats and be safe Robinson!!!
  12. Congrats on the great season and double beard!!!
  13. Congrats on a beautiful bird!!!
  14. Thats what I thought... but half of this field was burned. Definately a good thing since I've never seen turkeys or deer in the field before.
  15. I mean 1c I was heading back from home depot this morning and I noticed that there looked like there was a controlled burn in one of the fields that attaches to state land along rocky point road. Did anybody here of this? Is DEC going to actually do something beneficial for the wildlife and possibly plant in this field? As I got out of my car to check it out I noticed that there was a flock of turkeys at the opposite end of the field. There had to be about ten toms!! I managed to get within about 25 yards of them from along the woodline to take some pictures. The pictures aren't the best... I had to use my cell phone. Too bad turkey season wasnt open here in Long Island!!!
  16. Since my property isn't the most accessible I've been spreading bags of crushed lime by hand. I didn't realize they had an attachment for the atv, but between the quad and tiller attachments I bought this year I'm tapped out. I think if one more box comes from cabelas my wife is going to lose it!!! lol When I bought the property last year I had sent soil samples to whitetail institute and for the most part the ph wasn't that bad. So I've been adding about 2-3 bags of the crushed lime to each plot. I think my biggest plot is about a 1/4 acre or so and it seems to be working. All food plots came in nicely last year. Hopefully this year will be the same.
  17. Its unbelievable that we can't even hunt our own private land without people tresspassing. I could almost understand it on state land and have actually come to expect that to happen!!
  18. I get boars head dogs at cow palace but I am sure you can get them at a local supermarket.
  19. Congrats guys!!! Great looking birds... cant wait to get out again!!!!!!!
  20. I have to agree with your choice in mustard defrazzle. Im a big fan of boars head hotdogs and nobody in my house likes an undercooked hotdog. My father always says if he wanted a bologne sandwich he would make one... cook the hotdog!!!
