Not sure either Doc... I did some quick research and it seems that only land owners in California that experiencing problems with feral hogs may apply for a permit and you must reapply each year.
Had a good weekend. I got about a quarter acre of clover planted by my pond and no plow in another small food plot. I got two other plots just about ready for corn which I will be planting around the 25th when I get a chance to go back up.
I was thinking about planting whitetail institutes bowstands seed mix throughout the trails. Anybody plant it before with any success?
This year I joined the NWTF (a $35 membership fee) and got two bags of RR corn for $10 and a 12 pound bag of clover for $24. They offer huge discounts because a lot of their seed gets subsidized. They also had huge deals on sorghum as well. The only stipulation is that you cant resell the seed and it must be left standing all winter. They make you sign a waiver to that effect.
Disposing of animal remains is illegal as well... they must be buried... actually most guys don't do it, but when you gut a deer you are suppose to bury the entrails.
I didn't know that... is there a reason behind it???
Im going to plant clover this weekend in a plot 30 x 30 yards roughly. Im hoping that it will still be there come deer season. I have been adding a bag of pulverized lime everytime I till it... about 3x so far. I will add triple 15 and seed this weekend. Do I need to do anything else? Never planted clover before...
I bought a bag of the bow stand as well. I am going to plant it along a trail i have that leads to a waterhole.
Russel, food plot looked great last year. How "small" was the plot that the deer ate it in one week?
