  1. I hunted with OMM Outfitters. They are the only outfitter that Cabela’s recommend in the state of Maine for bear hunting. They are about $1000 more than most outfitters there but the odds increase greatly for harvesting a bear with them. When I was there two years ago 9 out of the 10 hunters all left with a bear. The food was incredible and the private cabins were amazing!
  2. During my last bear hunt in Maine my guide said to aim for the middle of the middle. Kind of what moog said.
  3. First afternoon sit of the season overlooking clover and turnips. He made his way into the food plot around 6:20 along with two doe and a smaller buck. He was about 25 yards quartering away when I took the shot. My best deer!!!
  4. First sit of my season here in 4f. Bumped two deer on the way to my stand. It’s raining acorns!!
  5. I try not to start my stove an earlier than October 1st. The house gets way to hot, especially the upstairs.
  6. If you are referring to why I didn’t see her when I first went out I didn’t come home the same way I went out.
  7. I was running a few errands and on my way home I saw her stuck at a sump close to my house. I ran home to get my bolt cutters and headed back to cut the chain. I wasn’t sure how long she was there but she seemed fine once I got her free.
  8. Was up last weekend to check my camera. Deer are starting to use the plot. Looks really good!
  9. Yes, definitely doesn’t effect growth but I’ve busted the shaft on my tow-behind brush hog more times than I’d like to admit. Not crazy about picking rocks but I’m not going to turn down the free labor!!
  10. Seems like every year I pick rocks there are more there the following year!
  11. I brought my kids up to help prep and plant a plot on our property a few weeks ago. They were such a big help. We cleared three trailers full of rock, fertilized, and seeded with clover and turnips. *** Not sure why my pictures always post sideways???
  12. Looks great. Love the bear mount! Is he a nys Bear?
  13. Seeing Zac Brown on 7/28 at Citifield and Kenny Chesney on 8/18 at MetLife.
  14. I purchased a 2017 Heritage Glenn. It’s 30 feet with three bump outs and has a bunk house for the kids. We purchased out of state from Ohio Rv Wholesalers and saved considerably on the price. We probably take it on four to five trips a year and I use it all of hunting season.
  15. Yes, as far as I know Maine only has a fall season. I hunted the opening week both times which is the last week of August. The guides told us that you will see more bears during the first week and less as the weeks progress, however, the bears get bigger during weeks three and four. All depends on what you are looking for.
  16. I've been bear hunting twice, both times in Maine. My first year I went with two buddies to Woody's Guide Service. There were a total of twelve hunters in camp and roughly three guys went home with a bear. We didn't see any. A few years later we booked OMM Outfitters through Cabelas. It was about $1000 more than the average outfitter in this area, however, out of the ten hunters, 8 of us left with bears. This camp was excellent!!! Each group of hunters had their own cabin with running water for showers and the food was amazing. Lobsters, moose stew, and smoked Delmonico steaks were a few of my favorite meals. We fished during the day on the lake, they allow you to use their pontoon boats. They also held a skeet competition one of the days. Anybody that shot their bear early in the week was able to sit and hunt coyotes free of charge. Definitely give them a look if you considering a bear hunt in this area.
  17. Found this one a few weeks ago. I must have driven past it a dozen times. Looking through some trail camera pictures I believe it belongs to this guys.
  18. Found today... looks like last years shed.
  19. Do we need a permit to do a controlled burn?
