    Wooly

Here's another I found from a different hunting site.
  2. Got a little more than two feet... real light snow thiugh. Makes for easy shoveling.
  3. I'm looking to book with OMM Outfitters in Maine. They're are backed by Cabelas and are probably the most expensive but you will leave there with your bear. Their facebook page shows nearly a 100% success rate for this past season along with quality bears taken!!!
  4. Heading out tomorrow.
  5. Saw the Gambler with Mark Wahlberg... it was OK at best. Looking foward to seeing American Sniper in a couple of weeks.
  6. Anything from Gene and Barry Wensel.
  7. Looking foward to seeing your progress. How do you plan on removing the stumps?
  8. Got the same gun this year... what type of ammo are you using with it?
  9. I went with spot 6 in Rocky Point. Hopefully Lots of walking will kick up some deer and will double as scouting for next year.
  10. This may sound dumb... but how or when will you know what the mast crop will be. I wanted to hunt some local state land this year. Roughly 6000 acres... how would I know what oak trees are going to produce unless I walk around late summer?? I really want to avoid scouting then because the tics and chiggers are out of control on the island. I want to do as much as possible right after the season ends... hopefully with a couple of inches of snow on the ground.
  11. Wasn't aware that your couldn't carry more than 25 shotgun shells while duck hunting??
  12. Anybody going to the Ridge check station tomorrow to register for January's firearm season? I received number 8 so I'm pretty excited. I was thinking about picking one of the spots in Rocky Point.
  13. Pygmy... you are absolutely correct. Last weekend trail camera pics should the plot getting hit at night. The fawns are starting to hit the plot at last light. I was also surprised to see a flock of turkey spending a great deal of time in brassica on more than one occassion. Even though I wasn't able to use the plot to hunt over this year, I know that it will definitely feed and hold deer over the winter!!!
  14. I'll be heading up tonight and we're suppose to get a WNW wind tomorrow so I will finally get a chance to sit on the edge of that field again. My last good encounters were back in the beginning of October with the bow. I had a real nice 6 and 8 spar a little bit but they were out about 45-50 yards and never came any closer. Then around Halloween I had the same 8 come out 35 yards to my right but the cover from the pine tree wouldn't let me draw my bow in that direction. Since then, the cameras have shown very little activity. I'm hoping with the cold temps and rut activity, one of them will be out tomorrow afternoon feeding!!!
  15. Anybody seeing or not seeing deer in their food plots? I have one plot that's about an acre of corn and brassica and it's barely getting hit. I have been getting the occasional doe on the trail camera but I am really surprised by the lack of activity all season. There's hardly any hunter pressure in this area except for the occasional sit every other week or so and I usually only check my camera during this sit. I have another spot of turnips that was devoured by mid October. I thought the mix of corn and brassica would be a slam dunk??? I don't get it??
  16. It's been my experience that local farmers are not all that reliable. Especially when you are four hours away and can't monitor their progress. I had made a cash agreement with a local farmer this year to till and plant corn by the end of May. Needless to say the corn did not get planted till the end of June and roughly less then half grew. I would reccomend having a local farmer turn the soil over for you once and you could then use the attachments you purchase for following years. If you want something done right it's best to do it yourself.
  17. I shot this doe around 8 this morning also with my .308. She ran about 20 yards and piled up. The snow definitely made for an easy drag!!!
  18. Thanks guys!!! I think I'm going to head up tomorrow night after trick or treating with the kids and stay through Tuesday. Hopefully the wind dies down at some point!! Good luck to all heading out this weekend!!
  19. How much does gusty wind effect deer movement this time of the year??? It seems like every weekend I get a chance to hunt the wind is blowing. This weekend the wind gusts are expected to be around 25mph in the area where I hunt. Is it worth going up with wind like this? Will the deer still be moving? Would it be better to take some personal/vacation time and go up during the week when the wind dies down? Opinions please!!!
  20. Congrats!! Real nice!! Is that a state land buck?
