Agreed, I'm not a trophy whore, trust me, I have none to speak of But, I love seeing solid 6's and 8's anything more is a bonus. Regarding food plots, see my posts, I just had 2 acres cleared... two 1 acre plots that me, my father and brother will be working on over the next few years. I can't wait! Regardless, if there was no AR then those area's would more then likely have a fair share of yearlings taken out. I don't see how anyone would say NO to this, as its the only way to do this on a mass scale. Yeah I know I'll get a lot of flack for this, but its the truth. Look at this poll, at a small scale, over 43% say yes, and 13% say lets give it a try and see what happens...And another 13% say they are not sure... Seems like most would like it or like to see what happens as a result of the AR.

I don't think I would, after seeing some shows on TV (yes I know its not like how it is in real life) it just doesnt sit right. The same goes for baiting for me, it doesn't seem right. But I don't judge anyone that does... And I caint fully comment because I have never been personally to experience it. But from the shows I have seen, for example Ted Nugent's show last night, was bear hunting with hounds. And they let the hounds loose, the dogs bark, they follow the barking, the bear is in a tree, 20 yard shot, the bear is dead. Other then the dogs / trainers skill, it doesn't seem like much hunting skill went into that hunt.

Honestly, what would be an effective alternative? I don't see any. If you ask hunters to sit there and age a deer its not going to happen. Yes, there may be a few older spikes running around, but is that the majority? I bet the majority that are being protected by the AR are the yearlings. But hey what do I know

Apparently there are bear all over by me and Fairgame in Sullivan. He took one on opening day of bow last year, and there are sightings by my neighbor all the time. The other neighbor said there is a bunch back in the swap in the corner of my property, apparently they frequent there and or live there. None on my trail camera yet, but I am sure I'll have one on there soon.

Ouch... My PSE brute is holding up, but only had it for just over a year now. I love the bow... A good archery shop is hard to find I guess, I read the reviews of a few local places, they seem to be all negative

New Field / Foot Plot plans
burmjohn replied to burmjohn's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
NYBow - Whats the best way to turn this field over? I forgot if I asked before but I saw this groundhog max thing, that attaches to the back of the ATV. I do not have a tractor (yet), so my ATV is really the only option other then renting something. And if I do rent something, its a pretty steep hill I'd have to go up to get to the plots, so that might limit me as well. Video of that groundhog thing: NEW GH MAX by Tufline 2010 Also should I lime before turning or after? My brother is up there now, and took some soil samples. So I will have those tested shortly. -
Mainly treestands with a little walking / stalking if its dead / raining.

Not a fan of his music, but I think his show is pretty funny and interesting at times. My buddy just sent me an email saying he is @ Mulcahy's in Wantah Tonight. Kinda funny.

The CVA and the TC both look pretty affordable. Going to do some more research now.

Reading Whitetail Gardening: A Look at Micro-Food Plots, i got it for xmas from my father, and I had forgot about it. Picked it up tonight to read, and its pretty interesting. I was telling fairgame, its a perfect book for those small plots in the woods in the other thread, but also applies to larger plots as well. It talks about PH levels, fertilized, and what works in lower PH (good for me)... Amazon link click here

Whats a decent first timer muzzle loader and whats the cost? I'd love to do it. My uncle has one, however he got it for his 60th birthday from his best friend, so I have no idea what it cost.
