  1. Editorial: Australian gun control holds lessons for U.S. snopes.com: Australian Guns Stats Gun politics in Australia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Gun Control Australia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_Control_Australia
  2. From what I have read it may all boil down to the following: Quoting John Lowy, Director of the Brady Center to prevent Gun Violence's legal Action Center 1-) Who should be allowed to buy guns? 2-) How should they be allowed to buy them? 3-) What should they be allowed to buy?
  3. OBAMA: We're a nation that believes in the Second Amendment, and I believe in the Second Amendment. We've got a long tradition of hunting and sportsmen and people who want to make sure they can protect themselves. My belief is that we have to enforce the laws we've already got, make sure that we're keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, those who are mentally ill. We've done a much better job in terms of background checks, but we've got more to do when it comes to enforcement. But weapons that were designed for soldiers in war theaters don't belong on our streets. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. But part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence. Because frankly, in my home town of Chicago, there's an awful lot of violence and they're not using AK-47s. They're using cheap hand guns.
  4. The problem is that 80 million people eligible to vote in this country do not vote (you can look up the statistics)! How many people om this site do you think do not vote but will readily complain?
  5. Joe, A license to hunt is a privelige and not a rite. Unfortunately, there are those amongst the hunting community who fail to abide by the conditions granted under the license because they disagree. It's a sad state of affairs. I for one have no sympathy for anyone who violates any regulation clearly defined in the regulations! Anyone have a rope?
  6. Doc, Great post!!!!!!!! The line has been drawn and I for one readily accept it. We are talking about safety and the limits are for legal shooting hours make sense. Those individuals who refuse to abide by the law are lawbreakers and are putting others at risk.A human life is precious and those who shoot before and after legal shooting hours need to realize this.
  7. Perhaps you should become a sponsor to the site rather than peddle your product for free on this site
  8. What is interesting is that in 2002 the deer kill was 308,216.00!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. For Immediate Release 2-27-2012 New York Crossbow Coalition Rick McDermott [email protected] New York Crossbow Coalition is a pro hunting grassroots organization dedicated to promoting the hunter recruitment and retention opportunities provided by the modern Crossbow. New York Crossbow Coalition has formed to advocate for the civil rights of all sportsmen and women of New York regardless of age, sex or physical abilities by pursuing the classification of a crossbow as a legal bow for use in any season where archery equipment is permitted, including archery only areas. For too long, a well organized group, comprised of a minority of hunters in New York, has effectively controlled the discussion surrounding the crossbow, its effectiveness, and its image, thus controlling all aspects of the crossbows legal uses. The New York Crossbow Coalition is preparing to counter this vocal minority with factual data and give a voice to the thus far silent majority of the sporting community that desires full inclusion of the crossbow in all aspects of archery hunting. The hunting population of New York provides 10’s of millions of dollars to the State economy, but the number of hunters has steadily declined over the past few decades. Crossbows can help recruit and retain hunters and slow the decline that jeopardizes the future of all traditional outdoor sports. You can help us elevate the crossbow to its rightful place alongside the compound, recurve and long bows as legal archery equipment by joining New York Crossbow Coalition, either on Facebook or in our yahoo group. You can find links to both of these at www.nycrossbowcoalition.com. It is time for those in the NY sporting community to stand together and send the pro-crossbow message to Albany with a united voice. Numbers will count in this battle, if you believe crossbows are a bow and should be included in all seasons where archery equipment is allowed, we need you to stand with us. Our voice gets louder with each member. Together We WILL Succeed!! ### New York Crossbow Coalition (Facebook) www.nycrossbowcoalition.com
  10. In my opinion, Ted is an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I am amazed that you are the only person to comment on my post! What amazes me the most though is that very little comment on this site has been has been directed towards the effect deer have on the habitat! The DEC wants deer killed( as many as possible in certain DMU's). . Look at the history of deer licensing and and the trend is obvious, too few hunters to kill an over expanding deer population.. Deer are akin to locusts in manyy areas of the state and have impacted the habitat accordingly . Deer populations need to be controlled. The introduction of crossbows will seemingly help the DEC in such an endeavor considering the ever increasing attrition of hunters. Deer hunting controls deer populations and in the end protects and preserves habitat. As hunters we need to embrace any new means to assist the DEC into achieving their mandate (look it up). In the end, whatever means is necessary in preserving our hunting heritage is worthwhile.
  12. We are all missing the point here! What is most important is the management of the deer herd, the habitat and the recruitment of new hunters and the retention of hunters. Should the full inclusion of crossbows positively impact the efforts of the NYSDEC at managing the deer herd to include protecting/preserving habitat, recruit and retain more hunters one should support full inclusion.
  13. Winter kill is not the only factor. The availabilty of food is paramount is determining breeding success.
  14. Had numerous opportunities to kill a doe this year but elected to wait for a buck to no avail. Nevertheless, my hunting season was a success because three of my nephews whom I was able to take hunting at different times during the season each scored for the first time with each killing a doe.Words cannot describe the experience.
  15. ED, besides being a Bills fan, you are OK in my book. Merry Christmass and happy Holidays to you.
  16. The depends certainly cushion the seat.
  17. Mandatory blaze orange can saves lives. Life is precious. Such a law is necessary. I just hate to read the reports of a hunter being wounde/killed because the shooter never saw the hunter because he was dreesed in camo. What a cross to bear for someone involved in such an accident. Is killing a deer that important to potentially risk being a victim of a hunting accident. I think not.
