  1. tell us how you really feel Do not hold it in.
  2. So everyone agrees that deer do not see it, then why not orange during archery season I ask again. Tradition? not really sure they do not see it? Do not want your archery buddies laughing at you? I am just curious why.
  3. Oh Stubby I always say when people have nothing valuable to add, they turn to personal attacks. With a nickname like stubby, I would be a little leery if analyzing others user names. Have a good day.
  4. They stuck it in so people who took a regular gun course could use it and not jam up archery classes with people wanting to use one and needing certification. Plus if they added it to archery, all the archers will scream about it invading their time. A little at a time. All about money no special certification needed t purchase a muzzleloader privilege, so they will try it there and see how much money it generates
  5. a little touchy are we? I make my assumptions from all the stories on here form the sz about being shot at crazies running around the woods etc etc etc. Go after the ones telling the stories I am drawing my opinions from. Always the guy 200 yards away in the brush story. Funny part is if you look at the fatalities on the web site, that one never seems to happen. it is the I saw movement and shot. Want to know what the real concern is? DMP's. People do not have to identify a target in their minds brown is down look later for antlers as we have handful of dmp''s Also the reason so many fawns get shot. brown is down is a deadly attitude to have. As far as camo, I wear green pants and a green and black plaid jacket. I never said I wear camp head to toe. You are assuming a lot in your little fit. I also said I wear an orange hat. My simple point and almost all in my area, we not not need to wear orange to feel safe simple as that. BTW seeing someone in orange through your scope is a pretty foolish maneuver also. A scope is used to magnify a target you already identified not to identify a target. Simple gun safety.
  6. I went to local town clerk this morning. Got my license bow archery and dmp. Got all even a dmp for 6c and 8g I had 3 preference points to get one in 6c. I like selecting what I want. I have a valid fishing license now, so I will wait until it expires and get a new one. if I go turkey hunting in the spring, I iwll get them at that time. System worked fine this morning.
  7. So to that ...Orange..be it on a human or NOT....... DO NOT SHOOT! See that can create problems too. All the guys you worry about shooting you in camo become trained that orange no shoot anything else is safe. So a guy in the deer woods turkey hunting in the fall is in camo and all the trained people get open shooting at anything not orange. There is good and bad to it all. Like I said I am glad I hunt in the north country where we pay attention and are not surrounded by idiots.
  8. If you were using anything. Another fine example of your anti side showing again. Trying to drag people into that discussion. No ethical hunter would take that shot regardless of the gun they were carrying.
  9. we get together after the hunt at camp and discuss the day we had and we plan the day for tomorrow. This is done by the fire with dinner.
  10. lol how did people stay in touch before high tech days? I guess they did not need to feel connected to the world. I guess we leave notes at camp saying where we are going and when we will be back. if not back we go look for them. if we hear a shot that we know is in our area, we go to the person to see if they are ok and need help with a downed animal. Pretty simple. I do not mean ot sound condescending, but the high tech way of the world today scares me. You make it sound like you can not hunt without constant contact.
  11. Gotta say it again. if deer do not see it as claimed, why would you not wear it during archery? I know a person would need to be closer to shoot you etc. I just want to know why not durign archery if deer do not see it? What difference should it make. Oh and another little tidbit. More people are shot during turkey season than gun season, but a lot say total camo in turkey. I realize turkeys can see you, and orange is not good for the hunt. I would think if you were so worried about getting shot, why not some type of orange then too. Just asking
  12. I love hunting in the north country
  13. With super duper crossbows now being used in part of archery season, I wonder how many will still go full camo.
  14. Oh making others safer is exactly why anyone wears it. they become safer and do not shoot you. You are confident and so am I, and I completely trust every person I hunt with. If you felt that way about everyone you would not wear orange. You are making them safer as I said so they do not shoot you. if they seee your orange and do not shoot sat you, you have made them safer. Simple as that.
  15. orange hat all the time. However I do not feel it necessary to make others safer
  16. DEC web site says 14 business days. More like 3 weeks
  17. I have the one on the left in my shower now. But there are several factors to take into consideration before selecting. 1 heat of the water you shower with. 2 Amount of time you spend in the shower 3 Whether you get into the shower on the left or right 4. Plastic or metal hangers 5. Water pressure and nozzle pressure. 6. Liquid soap or bar soap. Lastly if you have a water softener or not. I would never hang a bear shower curtain at camp. Not enough water pressure to withstand a bear.
  18. I do not know how mankind ever survived in the woods before high power magnum rounds existed. Pioneers and mountain men shoot a lot of game with 45 caliber round balls and funny thing the crttters died. I guess they morphed into super animals that it takes a 300 win mag to kill a deer (without 10 rounds) A lot have fallen into the bigger better faster mind set. My cousin hunts exclusively with a 243 with remington corelokt 100 grain bullets and had shot a lot of deer with it with it and a couple medium sized black bears. No problem with killing power or trailing. As stated shot placement is critical. But in my books it is with any round.
  19. I guess the permit thing goes with where they live. As ncountry can attest to, we have had several instances in our area where the amish build a home for themselves and construction was shut down when they did to get permits. The ACLU and other federal type agencies came to their aid and threatened court proceedings and it was all dropped under the guise of it was against their religion to have a permit as recommended by the states attorney general. As a former Justice of the peace, I saw how this worked up close and personal. As far as their work goes, I would hire them in a minute. Good work at a great price.
  20. Simple Doc. Some of the "traditional" archers will cry foul, accuse of using bait and lights and basically going to the zoo to shoot a deer. Especially if it happens during archery season, and the deer was stolen from a real archer.
  21. Ok let me reword my statement to make it more PC for those so inclined. It is a huge waste of time to gather all that data. people are not going to take the time to sift through it to find their local elections and candidates. If they want to find out, they will look locally as they should. Gathering all that data and posting it thinking people will look through it is at best wishful thinking. I have access to that data, but myself personally am not interested in putting it all together, to have maybe 3 people click on it and two of them never read it. My suggestion research your local candidates and make an informed decision. Data and research is the most boring thing there is to muddle through to find one bit of information. Get registered now. Waiting any longer is not useful.
  22. Yip same as the nonpolitical people do on those threads
