sorry wrong club I meant the North East Big Buck Club. -
don't get me wrong there are some good shows. I actually like to watch the Primos vids. I saw one of the guys on there gut shoot a deer because his wheel hit the tree, didn't realize his bow was so close to the tree when he shot, when they got down and checked the arrow they went through and explained how to look at an arrow and smell it and tell if it was paunch or not. There was no whooping and hollering it up, The guy looked physically sick after the shot. They then waited till morning and then showed the whole tracking process. luckily they didn't go right after the deer and it bedded about 200 yrds from where it was shot and expired in its first bed sometime during the night. It will happen to all of us eventually if you have hunted for any amount of time and its good we have a few shows out there that show what to do. But a lot of them are crap.

I just got done watching the sportsman channel and I see what you mean. This goober was bow hunting and this big buck comes in and he shoots him low right in front of the back legs. And this guy is doing a victory dance in his tree stand!!! I wanted to punch him right out of his stand I was so pissed off. He's like, I hit him a little far back but I think it was still a good shot. I'm screaming at the tv NO IT WASN'T YOU BOZO!!! Then its miraculously the next day and there sitting there on the ground with the deer and its all gutted out with leaves over the spot where he shot it. And hes sitting there explaining how it got dark and they couldn't find any blood so they decided to wait till morning to go find it, and how it was a good shot. And I'm like OK lets see the spot where you shot it then and that was the end of the show. And then they scroll through all his sponsors and I'm thinking do they even watch what they sponsor. And then every other show was with a crossbow behind a fence shooting deer that had huge racks that were not even close to reality. What a waste of 2 hrs, could have been out shooting or scouting. FAKE CRAP TO SUM IT UP.

Deer shot illegally at Hortonville Cemetery with a crossbow

but its easier and quieter with a cross bow you can shoot 50 yrds at night. -
wow I am seriously upset right now, I live in Broome. This sucks beyond sucks. Feral Hogs are really bad news for the Deer and Turkey populations but might be good news for the Bears they will eat good if they snag one. I cannot stress enough exterminate with extreeeeeeeemmmmmeeee prejudice. They are extremely destructive, you think deer and bear do damage to a farm field wait till you can see what a bunch of pigs will do to your fields or your garden. When I hunted them down south it was really easy to find them just follow the destruction through the woods till you ran into about 30 pigs, they breed like rats. If you find some keep shooting till there all dead, take what you want and leave the rest for the coyotes.

Looks like a Bear was rooting around, more than likely not from a pig. A guy I work with said there is a dairy Farm in Tioga county that some of his friends went on last month and brought out 6 pigs. This is also along 17 just past the Casino.

So far This yr I have asked several PA hunters I have run across how they like AR's Since I am sort of leaning toward being for it. And all 6 said they hated it when it 1st started out. They had to pass on a lot of deer that they usually would shoot. But something cool happened after the 3rd yr they started killing deer with nice racks and every one of them I have asked, except 1 who didn't really care what he shot as long as he could eat it, are now for the restrictions. They said they don't see as many deer as they use to when the herd was severely overpopulated, but they just keep getting bigger, to the point most dont even bother shooting basket racked 8's anymore because they have trail cam pics of monsters running around. One guy showed me pics of the 2 he killed a few yrs back and said before AR was implemented he had never seen anything that came close to them. And this is in the Northern mountains area on the border of Broome and Tioga county. My cousin ownes land that borders Pa that I havent hunted in a few yrs, I might need to give it a second look. What I wish NY would have done is make it manditory for a few yrs to check your deer in at a check station in the pilot areas in NY that have AR so we could get some idea of the changes. The only people you ever hear anything from in these areas are the ones who are against it. Everyone else is being really tight lipped I wonder why that is?

This could be an interesting yr, seems to be getting colder sooner this yr. Hope it doesnt heat back up come end of Oct.

Lime or Fertilize in the fall?
erussell replied to Landowner's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
If your plants are starting to yellow they are missing something, but your look nice and green, you might not have to worry about it. -
I checked out the web site for TVM and they seem to have some custom guns for a reasonable price. Anybody ever deal with them?
-
I read somewhere on the internet to use crisco or bacon grease to lube your patches before ramming a ball down the barrel just like in the old days. Anyone ever hear of this?
-
Its a target version. They make cheaper ones but I like that one.

Do you have a flitlock? I'm interested in the Quality of the lock, everything I have read about flinters say's the lock is the most important part of the rifle. If the lock is sub par the gun is pretty much useless and would hate to have a useless $1300 gun.

Anyone know anything about the quality of Pedersoli products? Was thinking about getting a Jaegar from them.

Saw a nice ten point tonight right up the road from my house. Nice spread and long tines, now im excited, come on October!!!!
