  1. Yeah I just love paying the highest taxes in the country, Knowing Im helping some crack head lay around and molest children all day while I work my arse off for squat!!!! But Im not bitter.
  2. So let me get this straight, P+Y and B+C measurers are being fired ( even though they are not paid its supposedly an "honor" to score racks for them ) for voicing there opinion that the buck be scored as a typical. And now no one will even score it for the state because it is considered to controversial. Poor guy cant catch a break can he. What a load of crap, I would be pissed!!! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND CURRENT AND ASPIRING MEASURERS NOT COMMENT ON THIS!!!!! http://www.deeranddeerhunting.com/deer-news/py-enters-king-buck-controversy
  3. Gun powder would be cool! But I dont think a strippers breath would smell like peppermint maybe cig's, bad tarter, and raw potato's. And Amsterdam smell of Pot would be annoying after a few hours of smelling skunk and the DEA breaking down your door for the fifth time today looking for the garden.
  4. I dont really consider the mountains of NC as a mountain man, maybe more of a hick than anything. The people in Montana are way to well off to be mountain men and the scene where they were rattling for deer was a joke, Im nearly spit my drink across the room. The dude from Alaska is quite crazy and probably the closest thing to a mountain man around today atleast on reality tv. IMO.
  5. How does it hold up in late October and November?
  6. That buck is going to be a beast come October. By the looks of things hes darn near working on a 20 in spread.
  7. Ever fish the no kill, lure only spot under the 81 bridge in deposit? I use to go there in the spring with wolly buggers or a 3 inch zonker with sinking line stripped back to the shore and hang into some real screamers. I was never able to land any of them but they took me for a ride and was a blast.
  8. Well after a little more research I finally settled on the summit bushmaster from cabelas. Just a few pounds more than the openshot but more room. Will let you know how it works when I get it.
  9. I use 150 grains 777 and 250 grain xtps. 100 grain would work if you get good groups. My T/C Triumph shoots good with 150 grain or 100 grain but notice a little more of a drop past 100 yrds with 100 grain so I go with 150 grains of 777. I really do not notice any difference in felt recoil between the two loads. Love the xtps though. Those things go off like a grenade inside the deer and if they arent DRT they dont go far. Might help to drop to a lighter bullet instead of lobbing pumkins to.
  10. Got people around here that skin them and hang them out for a week cold weather or not. They turn almost black then they cut them up. They say it tenderizes them, I think its nasty.
  11. shoot 80-100 deg temps in oct would kill deer in NY since they have on their winter coat by then.
  12. Look at this freak!!! http://www.qdma.com/articles/the-real-whitetail-freak
  13. Nice if its flat to. Both of my plots are on logging trails up on a mnt. This yr though I have a friend who is going to bring his 4 wheeler over to help get the lime and fertilizer up to the plots which is a huge help. Not alot of fun walking 12 bags of lime and 2 bags of fertilizer up hill for 300 yrds 2 at a time. Good excercise though!
  14. I had the viper a few yrs back but it just weighed to much so I sold it. I still use a aluminum blade style climber I bought 20 yrs ago. Love the summit's and was hoping the would bring something out lighter. The open shot looks like the ticket.

    won a gun

Congrats on the new gun!! Hope you like recoil!! Hunted with a borrowed one back about 15 yrs ago. Thing rattled my brain. I ended up shooting a coiled rattle snake that struck at me when we suprised eachother. I couldnt even find his rattler after it was all said and done, and my ears rang for a week!!
  16. Dang look at the mass already!! he's for sure a mature buck and may be a good 8 or 10 by the time his main beams and tines sweep around.
  17. Cool pic! Looks like camera is facing into the sun which will confuse camera into taking pics when the sun hits it.
  18. Wasnt trying to start controversy just sayin. Will prolly switch to carbons in the future, I think I have eeeked all the speed I can get out of my current setup. But once you get speed, you always have to try and make it faster.
  19. So I have pretty much made up my mind and will be picking up an open shot SD by summit sometime this week. I have been looking for something small and compact to lug back into the sticks and hunt some big buck spots. I have been stuck hunting on the ground because of the weight of my climber I now have and I get to sweaty lugging it way out there. I think this stand should make it happenn for me. I like how it only weighs 16 lbs plus the seat folds up against the tree for standing shots. Anyone own one of these and how do you like it?
  20. Sweet, looks like something I use to hunt out of down south. Now all you need is to run some electrical wire out to it, install a refridge and a recliner and your set. Is their some kind of food source to get them near it. You build something that permanent you need a food source to keep them coming your way. Otherwise the first deer you wack out of it will make them wise up quick and they will just start going way around it, unless you have someone driving them to it. Down south something that big would be on a food plot, clear cut or overlooking a bait pile.
  21. I use to dislike the youth muzzle hunt in the middle of bow but now I think it will be good for chasing all the big bucks off of state and surrounding land over onto the 200 acres I hunt for the rut. So now I am for it.
  22. Might have to go up and hit it with a rake and break up the stolons and spread the love. Nothing better than not having to pay for seed.
  23. Depends how much work you want to do. If its your land, go in with a chainsaw and make a plot. Just cutting the trees down will make it green up with natural deer food.
