I ment to write Striper not stripper also.

I have pulled 70 lbs for most of my adult life and have never had any shoulder or back problems. Though I am only 38, possibly when I am older I may need to lower it but by then compounds will be obsolete and everyone will have crossbows . I dont think its a mocho thing, its more of a speed thing. I prefer to hunt with one pin and pulling 70 lbs I have one pin held dead center out to almost 30 yrds. Takes the guess work out of it as long as I do my part on the range estimation and realease.

My craftsman does to.

Ha!!!

20x20 yrds of rape, winter rye and turnips. As soon as the frost hit it they devoured it.
-
Wouldnt do that its illegal.
-
ewww gross, No just buried them between the rows of corn in the garden.

Yes winter rye, is what I said above. They love winter rye plots around here. It never gets up over2inch they just keep mowing down. Tho the deer around where I hunt will eat anything that is green come fall. There isnt any planted farm fields for atleast 20miles in any direction where I hunt. Just over grown or mowed hay fields where all the farms use to be. I hunt 200 acres of hardwoods on a hill. Soil is pretty decent tho last plot I put in at another spot came up great with minimal lime and fertilizer but is to small and the deer ate it within a week of the 1st frost. So I decided to plant two plots this yr and double the size of the 2nd one. Heres what the small plot looked like the yr before and a pic of the 2nd plot im going to put in this yr. foodplot.doc

Rape, turnips, and winter rye it is then Will be cheaper anyhow.

He must have really got into one heck of a scrap to break a main beam like that. Ive watched bucks with scrawnier racks than that get into drop down drag outs and never break a tine off. He must have had one serious fight.

interesting, I think I will take out a loan and get a bag. What are the sun requirements? I have 1/4 of both of my plots are full sun the rest is slightly shaded. What mix of seed do you use with it and at what ratio? I was thinking, (which is alway changing) Trefoil, Chic, Alsike clover, and maybe some ryegrass in the one plot. And Canola, Turnips, Winter rye or oats in the other. I like the longevity of the white clover but im afraid that having tall plants like trefoil and chic will block it out. Alsike clover is suppose to last three yrs from what I read and stay green through most of the winter.

Use to go all the time when I was a teen, Shot quite a few with the old recurve. It was a hoot.

Oh man that is nasty, Hope you feel better soon. The fingers are the worst thing in the world to hurt due to all the nerve endings. I smashed my thumb in a machine at work last yr. It actually broke the thumbnail off just under the cuticle and had come out and was on top of the cuticle. So at the ER, they got a pair of pliers, and after a whole bunch of worthless shots around the thumb that did absolutelly nothing to dull the pain, they went to work bending the nail back under the cuticle. I tell you what it hurt more than anything I have ever experianced and came very close to blacking out twice. I cant imagine how bad your finger hurts, hope they got you on some good drugs. Good luck.

Now heres the million dollar question on the trefoil, What does it do when it gets cold? Does it die or does it stay green till the snow flys?

I'm not to worried about Uncle Ted going postal but there are some wack jobs out there that will get all fired up by his speech and then try something stupid. All they have to say is Uncle Teddy said so and he will be guilty by association of his speech. I recall a few KKK leaders getting thrown in prison for something simular to this. Obama may be a left wing commie but he is an elected by a majority of Americans left wing commie. The American people got what they deserved. Hopefully some people will wake up and not vote for him again this fall. But being the pessimist I am I doubt it. Everyone loves free handouts.

Wince!!! Come on this is a hunting forum we see bloody and gutted deer all the time on here whats a mangled finger, comeon lets see the gore. Man sounds like an episode of bizarre ER.

Well he found the 2nd half, I guess he was in the woods for 10 min and looked over and there it was. Wish I had his luck -
Only thing I have found to deter the black fly's is smoke or one of those electrified tennis racket things. I left a can of OFF on the porch railing one time while doing some yard work and came back to find a group of blackflys huffing it.

Well here's the new plot Ive been working on. Going to lime and fertilize and till in the next couple of weeks. Then let it set for a while and then come back and roundup anything that comes up, then plant some chicory, clover, rye. Hope to show off some nice green pics in the future. Now all we need is some rain. I set up a trail cam on this trail a few weeks ago and when I went there today to weed wack the grass and brush off it I had 75 pics so cant wait to see whats on it but will leave it there a few more weeks. One potential problem I do see is the amount of turkey sign around this area. I may have to find where they are roosting before I plant and scare them off. I planted a plot about 8 yrs ago and came back a few weeks later expecting to find a nice green plot and there was nothing but dirt and turkey crap and scratchings. I was a little annoyed at 45 dollars worth of lost seed. foodplot.doc
