Beautiful animal. Congrats on a successful hunt. Thanks for the story.

Another statistic to work against the law abiding gun owner. People really need to be better stewards of their firearms. Too many accidents that could have been avoided. The worst is when you read about a kid accidentally discharging a loaded firearm laying around the house. More care should be taken to avoid these accidents. I can't believe someone with a carry permit is showing someone a loaded handgun in a coffee shop.

I have always pulled my motorcycle trailer through the EZPass and never been charged extra. If you pull through a manned lane they will charge you per axle.

Welcome. Vizslas are beautiful dogs. I have a GSP and his girlfriend is a Vizsla. Birdhunting is my favorite hunting.

Funny stuff. Always make sure that gun is sighted in.

Buy it. These lever guns seem to be growing in popularity. A used gun is like a used hammer, likely to work just fine.

Steel shot if you are shooting over water. Your shotgun must be plugged to only handle a total of 3 shells. I use a wooden dowel.

strange and scariest things while hunting or fishing NY
PWGUNNY replied to noodle one's topic in General Chit Chat
I was shore fishing on a reservoir in the Catskills years ago with my wife. We worked our way down the shore a bit and then I noticed something hanging from a branch near my wife. I walked over and noticed it was a dead snake that was hanging by some monofilament that was tied to it's tail. The snake was about 4 ft long and it was still dripping blood from it's mouth. My wife wanted to leave and fish from a different reservoir after that. A few years ago my buddy and I were duck hunting in the bay. It was a cold, snowy day in January. We were hunting from my 12' aluminum Jon Boat and we both fired overhead at ducks at the same time. The motion and the recoil pitched us both out of the boat and into the frigid water. We managed to scramble our waterlogged bodies back into the boat. He lost his shotgun in the bay. We hightailed it back to the boat ramp and got ourselves home to get warm and dry. We bought a bigger boat after that. -
The duck you order in a restaurant is likely the white domesticated duck. The ducks I've hunted and eaten were pretty bad. Blacks, mallards, geese and couple others were passable. I tried many different recipes but none made a duck meal all that good. Brant were the worst. My buddy and I used to give them to his Salvadorian workers, but after a while they didn't want them anymore either. We stopped hunting ducks after that.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. Owls are the coolest birds. I think the Snowy Owl is now my favorite. I have seen a few owls in the wild while hunting but never a snowy.

Bowhunting on LI on the State land is fairly simple. Realize there are some spots that require the Daily Parking permt from the check station, but there are a good number of spots that do not require the daily access permit. To OP on this thread: There are a lot more deer hunting spots than bird spots. When I bird hunt out east, there are only a few decent spots for pheasant. You clearly set up in the wrong spot if you were near bird hunters. I have a post on here about how I was bird hunting and found a tree stand on Public Land. If you are using a stand on State Land it better be a climber. PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT applies on state land.

Save your brass! You'll like reloading, it adds more pleasure to the sport.

After 10 days he can bring in the elephant herd to control the lion pride.

I'm at the range once or twice a week. I have 2 pistols right now, .22 and 9mm. The past few weeks I have not been bringing the .22 because my supply is dwindling and I have not been able to find any to replace it. Things will get worse in NY come Jan. 15 when ammo can no longer be purchased through mail order. .22 cal will be more rare than an honest politician. My suggestion is to buy 9mm guns and reload. Reloading brings the cost down from .30/rd to .15/rd. I shoot a couple hundred rounds of 9mm each week. I can keep this up for another year til I have to buy more components for reloading.

Be sure to post up another review after you've cleaned it and shot some more rounds through it. I'm curious to know if your problem is resolved. I watched the Hancock45 video review on this gun. He really liked it, seemed like he didn't want to put it down. He might have had a couple FTF's with it from what I recall.

WOw, that's a great buck. Whew!

I've watched the show about 5 times. My hunting buddies have also seen it a few times. The funny thing is the avid watchers that I know are not Sportsman. I'm amazed at some of the people in my office that watch it. I think the show is good, and I admire the family for their strong family and their success. I admire Phil for speaking his mind and not trying to be politically correct. I'm offended by people that get offended.(LOL) A big thumbs up to Phil for telling Baba Walters that he's too busy hunting to do her show. I liked the guy, now I love the guy.

My Ruger Mark lll also shoots everything including standard velocity. It would drive me nuts if it were selective about ammo. These days finding any .22cal is hard enough. Soon Jan. 15 will be here and mail order ammo option disappears. I'm a Ruger fan, but I have also spoken to someone that said the SR22 fell apart on them. My next .22 pistol will likely be the M&P 22

Good for her. I love her Ninja Pose.

Great Job! Good for her.

I love reloading. I wish I could sell all my product.

My pocono home is the next town over from where the bear was killed. The hunter is my tree guy, Dan Beavers. I always joke about him being a tree guy with the last name Beavers. That bear is incredible. The area has a very good population of Black Bears.

I was pheasant hunting with my dog last week at Otis Pike and I noticed a ladder stand when I first entered into the woods. I'm surprised someone would put a ladder stand on State land and a very active parcel. It won't last in that spot, as everyone passes that area to get to the field.
