  1. Some of you guys wouldn't be so smart if it wasn't for your Google. Sure wish we had some more guys here who shared what they've learned through hands on personal experiences, instead of what they learned through their keyboard searches. This post is starting to make me wish the political posts would come back to the top,lol
  2. I think you gotta be pretty excited!
  3. You can find budget x-bows in the Sportsmans Guide. That's where my Horton Fury that I'll be using this season came from. I did some more shooting today, and I'm absolutely sickly impressed with the crazy accuracy of this freaking thing for the money!
  4. Not only do I think baiting should be legal, I believe it should be MANDATORY,lol! Ok, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but... Let's be honest here. If baiting were legal, there would be a bait pile in every plot within shooting range of most plotters stands.
  5. Recent Field and Stream article puts Ozonics up against a drug sniffing dog. http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/hunting/2014/07/does-it-work-ozone-scent-control-vs-drug-sniffing-dog Sounds like it works to some degree. I suppose if you have your own TV show it might be worth it, but I don't think your average deer hunter could justify it's $500 price tag just to kill the same quality of bucks he's been killing all along.
  6. 60-70lbs 29" draw 3 pin site, drop away rest, 6 arrow quiver, and hard case. Local P/U only(Erie County) unless willing to cover shipping on top of asking price of $200.
  7. Cool series! Saw a shoving match the other day with a couple young velvet bucks.
  8. That could be just about any critter this time of year. No tracks? I've been seeing a lot of ground bee nests dug up already around here. I saw a mound like yours get destroyed this spring and turned into a dusting bowl by the turkeys.
  9. Good luck Kot2! Hope everything goes smoothly for all.
  10. Sweet! I got a few pics of my first two hard horners last night. Took a run up to the field this morning and found two fresh scrapes opened up on the ridge leading to the field under the same licking branches as last year. I wish those freakin' antlers would start falling off already,!
  11. Been a while since I added any pics here. Been pretty slow, but last night may have been the turning point as the field filled up with over 20 deer.... 15 of which were bucks! I had another mishap with the DSLR camera while hanging a treestand the other day, so it's probably taken its last photo. Here's a few I got before the big fall.. This looks like a pretty sweet 8pt, but I haven't had him close enough yet to know for sure. So now I'm back to shooting my little Nikon Coolpix point and shoot. It's not quite the same, but it will have to do. At least it shoots some decent video as well, but it's not much good at the long range stuff.. Here's a few from last night. This first shot is the first hard horned bucks I've seen this year!. They were the last to show up just before dark last night. I had to leave early, because the bucks began working their way across the field to where I was. ...and here's a few more that haven't shed the fuzz yet as of 8/29.
  12. I've heard raw burger causes brain damage, and I'm starting to believe it now after reading this post, lol
  13. Hey, maybe you could cover up the smoke scent by spraying down the house with some cheap perfume..... I'll guarantee you a stinky cigar will be the last thing on mommas mind when she walks through the door, lol
  14. Looks cozy! Now you just need to strip that floral print upholstery off that love seat before the boys start showing up.., hehehe.
  15. He must be a slow learner then, because I've been running into these two all summer, lol How in the world did anyone ever scout before trail cams? I got rid of all my cams this year, so this is how I'm gonna get it done. I'm sure I haven't seen the last of either of them this year, and I'm sure not too worried about that stand being ruined by an end of August encounter. Here's another shot of his buddy the professor 9pt too.. you would think he'd be smarter than that by now.
  16. I hung this treestand yesterday and went to throw a seat on it this morning. This is why you should never pee on your climbing sticks until you're ready to hunt, lol My stand is just above the buck on the left.
  17. Man Dave, such a shame you'll be bunny hunting! I'd leave that bird in his cage the first couple weeks of November!
  18. Have been there the past two years with some shed antler hunters and knapper friends from another site. It's a really cool show to see some really interesting artifacts from the area, along with a bunch of other great outdoorsy things.
  19. It was probably about time you upgraded to a x-bow anyhow!
  20. You all can have that snow in October, I have no desire to bow hunt in that wet slop. I'll be hoping for some pleasantly comfortable days of sunshine in the 50's and 60's... and 70's! It feels like we didn't melt out here until June, so I'm in no hurry to see that white crap anytime sooner than normal. An early winter arrival this year, after a prolonged harsh winter last year, and late green-up this spring, could spell trouble for your herds heading into next season especially if soft mast is suffering in areas the way some here have already stated compared to last fall.
  21. I bet these would be delicious wrapped in bacon! Who's gonna be the first to try one? Got a mess of them around here for anyone having a hard time finding their own.
  22. A bit further than I was hoping to find, but as a last resort, it may have to do if they have an opening. It's impossibly complicated to find anything that fits a 3'rd shifters schedule when it comes to this kind of stuff. It's for my sister. I know we'd have a ball hunting together, and I know she wants to try it, but I don't know if she'll be able to fit this into her schedule. Thanks for the lead Stoner, I'll definitely have to look further into it.
  23. Thanks for the links Red dawg! Unfortunately I know the closest one is booked up already. I know back in the day, if you knew the right people, it only cost you $20 for an authentically fudged certificate..., but those dudes are all dead now!
