  1. I used to do them all the time but have given them up the past few seasons for the same reasons you mention. Now I just hunt for my own satisfaction without the competition. Unless of course it's just for bragging rights.
  2. John, I saw a 3'some brawl this summer and got a few shots with my Nikon. Rare catch on your trail cam indeed. NYB, very cool action shot for an IR. Mine could never pull that off without some serious motion blurr. G-man, gotta love it when they're composed like they've been placed by a photographer. Great catch!
  3. News flash fellas.....little bucks shed too.
  4. Post up your favorite shot you've ever gotten from your trail cams. Here's mine. If your pic isn't clearly marked, please tell what cam you were using. This may help someone in the market for a new cam.
  5. Oh yeah I've read about all the down sides to it and fully understand what the researchers are saying.....in some instances. The way some of the authors of the articles come across as if we're throwing Alka Seltzers to seagulls. :
  6. Ummmm....what if the deer are primarilly feeding on corn? ??? You can't tell me when I see 50 deer chowing down in the same cut corn fields all winter long for hours on end that woodsy browse is the vast majority of their winter diet. :-\ But I suppose by this link it would be acceptable to feed apples if one was inclined enough to do so with less tragic results.
  7. Cool clip! Just when I thought I had enough cams to see it all......probably not,lol
  8. I had a buddy that drove me nuts with the 2 way radios. My ol' man's the same way. Constant chatterboxes soon as they got one of them things in their hands. Call me if you need help..... not to chat because you miss your wife. :
  9. Well I suppose you could take this one step farther into the spring and summer months and allow the use of mineral blocks and such.
  10. That's kinda my take on it too. Probably a better chance of spreading disease where deer congregate around a wintering plot. Hard to believe a few handfulls of hypothetical corn would disrupt their feeding patterns.
  11. Alrighty boys and girls, pretty sure I know everyones thoughts on baiting here in NY durring the open hunting season. I'll assume we're all on the same page there and it should remain as it is, ILLEGAL. What I'm wondering is how you all feel about bait stations durring the off season....still illegal, but I think many take a whole different stance on it when it's not being hunted over. (myself included) Sooooo, hypotheticly speaking of course ....who feels it would be ok to supply additional feed this time of year and who thinks it would only lead to the mass spread of CWD or worse. ??? Pros......cons.....don't care either way???
  12. Now this I can agree with. I think because this is so public it has a more in your face affect. Just one point though....signing over permits isn't illegal Holy crap- I think Pats buzz is finally starting to wear off!
  13. Here's a pooch I had spent some time with over the summer. Don't let them short stubby legs fool ya, he had a motor on him. He couldn't stand a deer in the yard one bit. He could be sleeping hard on the other side of the house and as soon as a deer walked out his sniffer would get to twitching and it was off to the races out the door in a flash, lol. He'd only chase them to the edge of the yard. I always wondered what would happen to this little guy if one of them deer finally decided to let him catch them. Came awefully close a couple times. The deer never seemed to mind much and always came back for more.
  14. I've been dragging them through that same creek for 20 years now. Never had a problem other than getting wet feet crossing it so figured I may as well make it work for me. My house was right on the other side so they got a thorough rinsing there.
  15. 2 seasons ago I grabbed this buck by the horns and inched my way out of the thick creekbottom. Thought I was gonna die draggin'. ??? I stopped to take a break and remembered I had some 2gal. size ziplocks in my pack for the heart and liver along with all my empty sammich bags from previous hunts. I figured to blow them all up and throw the sucker in the creek with the bags stuffed in the carcass cavity. Needless to say, other than the rack catching bottom a few times he floated out like a boat to where I could get the truck down to him. Was a little cold for crick walkin' that day but it sure felt better than overheating the way I was. Never got him on a scale but I know the SOB was HEAVY with no snow that year.
  16. Glad to see they're no chocholate chips popping out of those thong cookies. ??? Wouldn't mind a Hershey Kiss nipple on my boob cookie though.
  17. Ms. Venom I need to take some recent pics.
  18. Pat- you need to call the town and tell them that damn landfill runoff is seeping into your drinking water. Try parking your trailer upwind of that "big brown mound" for breath of fresh air from time to time too. Wont take long and you'll start seeing things clearly again.
  19. C'mon kiddos get to bed. Spongebob Squarepants marathon on Nickalodeon in the mornin'.!!!!
  20. No offence intended- but I'll bet that's the exact sentiments of the wacko shooter. ???
  21. Lol- there's a good reason I haven't posted about one of my experiences this year. No thanks!
