  1. Hey Red, I've got a Coolpix myself, and I'm not overly impressed with it. It's a nice little camera, but for that money could be much better IMO, and there are better options out there. Have heard good things about the t6 but have no personal experience with them. Given the choice between your two options though I think I would lean more towards the Canon based on what I know of the Nikon.
  2. I would tell my younger self to keep on doing what you're doing..., and some day you'll be as good as me!
  3. Yep- just wondering if that one fell off before or after any of the rear antlers, lol
  4. If you really want to super charge the whitening, get the powder that mixes with your 40 vol. crème peroxide and put some heat to it. Once the pastey mix dries it'll form a crusty shell that you can simply remove with a toothbrush. You can whiten a skull in less than an hour by combining those two ingredients.
  5. I'm not exactly sure. Two of them are tagged "Sweetwater Calls" if that helps any. Have a few others from Cherry Creek and Centerville, but no pics on hand.
  6. Sis likes to hit up the Amish auctions whenever she gets a chance. Every time she goes to one, she brings home a few box calls for each of us. Yesterday she won two sets of these for 7 bucks a box. Can't beat that price..., and they sound and feel pretty damn good with some cool wood combos.
  7. About a foot here from yesterdays drop. All quiet so far this morning.
  8. Maybe the dumpster was already full of hacked up hookers!
  9. Keep your head down rob... Once the coast is clear you can slide down the chimney and dust the X-mas presents for prints! Don't forget your sack for collecting all the evidence, lol
  10. Glad to hear all went well buddy! It's amazing what good drugs and cute nurses can do to fix you up right!
  11. Casualty of Photobucket so I'll repost.
  12. I'd drill with Miss Sweden! Bottom pic, bottom board! She got some fine lines!

    Antlers GONE

This would make a great story and cool set of antlers to call your first! Hang onto that skull. You never know what will turn up down the road.

    Antlers GONE

Sure looks like an infection or injury induced "shed" to me. Get out there and find them babies! WOOOHOOO!!!
  15. I had a frightening encounter with a big hairy squatch once.... Or maybe that was a big hairy snatch encounter I'm thinking about. Either way, I haven't been the same since then... now I'm always packin' my BIG gun anytime I hit the bush just in case!
  16. One nice 8pt right outta the gate an hour after the sun popped up. Technically, it wasn't really a "pass" on HIM as much as it was a pass on a hairy opportunity. A little outside of sissy's effective range..., and by the time I laid eyes on him, he was skylined on top of a ridge across the creek. Apparently the guy who set his new stand above us had a clear and safe lane to take careful aim while unloading 5 shots in rapid fashion. We never saw him dragging anything out, so I assume his elevation or windage may have been knocked off a click or two on his hike to the stand, lol Also let a nice black squirrel walk..., a beaver swim by...,and a blue heron that landed in the creek 5yds outside our blind window. VERY quiet out there the rest of the day, but we saw some cool shhtuff and had a good time!
  17. 50cal Traditions ML as usual. Probably wont see any action though. Sis will be on the trigger first with her 20ga. Mossy 500 right beside me.
  18. Only selfish reason I can come up with for shortening the regular season is to get an earlier start on the shed season. All indications in the past have shown that every year there are some good survivors no matter how long our season is. Plenty of solid bucks around this area year after year, I just don't have the patience to target them the way I should and really just want their antlers anyhow. Aside from that, you guys can do whatever you want with the season length. I've usually had enough by December and start to get pretty sloppy (and cold) anyhow.
  19. Sure would. I won't be hunting as much this year as I have in the past, so I'll have some free time this winter to work on this stuff as well.
  20. Thanks guys, really appreciate it! I could use a break from the big thick cow skulls that have been keeping me busy lately. My latest still in progress.
  21. Hey guys, I just thought I'd throw this out there for any of you in the 9h area that usually fill a few doe tags at your camps. I'm looking to get my hands on a few (or many) doe skulls this season for my skull carving hobby. If you're local to the area, and don't have any use for you doe heads, I'd be thrilled if you might throw them aside for me if it's not too inconvenient for pick up at a later date. I'll be hitting up the local processor in town as well, but I get the funny feeling from past experience he'll want to charge me for them by the piece, so I'm not really interested in a major investment since my profits from these are slim. Like I said, I'm just throwing it out there for anyone who may be able to help out. Skulls need not be skinned or cleaned... just raw heads will do, and stinky is fine. Message me any time if you got something to part with. Would also be willing to carve something in exchange for multiple skull donations! Thanks in advance! Good luck to all this season and hunt safe!
  22. Sheeeeit...., she'll be lucky to make it through the first hour of opening day! That's a rare one no doubt! I'm sure there's at least one slobbering gun hunter on the block looing to add one of those to his list of accomplishments, lol!
  23. Thanks man! Chicks really dig running their fingers through my rabbit hair too, but they're a little disappointed when the hat comes off,lol
  24. Love mine as soon as the snow starts flyin' and the winds pick up. Add a fleece neck gator underneath and I can handle the coldest weather winter can throw at me.... and my skinny azz don't handle winter weather all that well.
  25. First visitor to the first carcass cam set of the year. This one came as a bit of a surprise on a new property I've never run cams at before. Still only the second fisher I've ever caught on cam.
