  1. I didn't realize you were estimating for Jerky.
  2. and a 32" DL I am guessing. lol What weight.
  3. We changed limbs. He is around 50 or just under if I recall. I had a 90lb elite judge. Was not as fast as the other 2 mentioned above.
  4. My obsession phoenix that grampy now owns was hitting 273-74 with a 520g arrow at 82lbs. My current PSE Evolve is almost identical with the same arrow at 71lbs. Seems like most of the newer bows are flat out fast. Oh and 28" DL.
  5. Throw up the bow and arrow specs. As one that chrono-ed compounds all the time several years ago, the curiosity is killing me.
  6. Understood and so far, I don't have 3 shooters in mind. But optimism loom large. lol
  7. I hunt pretty good parcels and having 3 shooter bucks would be a huge blessing. 10 would be insane. I realize we all have different definitions of shooter and I don't have 500 acres.
  8. I will admit that I am dumb (not that you are) and have done the same thing, including the fall. Glad both of us walked away with serious injury. I think my extra built in cushion saved me. lol
  9. I have never gone as far as checking actual spine and indexing for spine. I limit it to indexing the BH so that it is always point up when fletched and nocked. Do you see a difference and how far out of spine are most commercial arrows?
  10. I have the same dilemma at times. I think, geeze, he is a pretty nice buck now but if I wait a year or two, he will be like one of those Steuben County monsters WNY Bowhunter posts ALL THE TIME. Then I think, but he ain't bad now. lol Sometimes the excitement of the hunt just gets to me and I kill one I planned to pass or of similar size. Good luck with whatever you decide. And, more importantly, don't regret your decision.
  11. Very cool. Now keep taking that same pic in the same spot and same pose every year for the next 12 years. It will be neat to look back on his growth. Meant to copy mlammerhirt's post - oh well. Too late for you and I Fletch.
  12. I know you kill a lot of animals but that one example does not make wind/scent direction irrelevant IMO. Deer definitely use their sense of smell and it certainly doesn't help your odds to be upwind. I have killed some downwind of me too and also been busted when they scented me coming in from downwind. When they come from upwind, I haven't been busted because of scent as far as I know. Certainly a consideration for me when I decide where I am hunting. I won't hunt a stand where I KNOW the wind direction is bad. (Predominate wind doesn't always control your scent either - milkweed is my friend). But to each his own. Target rich environment certainly helps no matter the wind direction. lol
  13. Rabbit in distress can be horrifying. My eyes start tearing up and I want to run away when I turn on the electronic caller! I actually heard a live one last year and it too was horrifying. Fawn bleat not so much.
  14. I am getting pass throughs consistently with a 50lb trad bow. Heavy arrows help. You should be getting pass throughs or you may need to tune better or change your head or add some arrow weight. Only 2 times I can remember where I didn't get a pass through: (1) the arrow was lodged in spine after deflecting off ribs and (2) doe spun on shot and entered in front of leg and traveled length of body into cavity. Both dead in sight though. I have had a few times where shooting my slow trad bows (much slower than your compound), the deer spun on impact and broke the arrow going through but they still left two holes.
  15. I already told Bob he can shoot whatever he likes. No issues. Not sure If I will shoot her though.
  16. Based on the intel I have, I am pretty sure you could get a crack at her opening day. In fact, I think I know the exact stand to do so but she is so cool to have around. lol
  17. John I am interested in doing a similar fence. If you get a chance, PM or text me the materials list. Thanks!
  18. I do. Prefer the trad bows but the compound comes out when there is rain possible/likely or if I am just not shooting to the standard I feel I should.
  19. Can you get the discount on Sitka for teachers, police, fire etc?
  20. Went through some pics from the same camera. Still waiting for Steuben County Big but a nice group for only 6 days of pics. Once the bucks found the plot they became regulars and piebald almost lives on the plot. Like the pic with the leaf hanging from the 8pters mouth. Some hard horned bucks too. Set one more cam and will let them soak.
  21. Crappy iPhone pics from couple hundred yards at 11am. Watched them from Jeep feeding in plot. Good bachelor group of 4. The one is real solid. Enough to get the blood pumping a bit.
  22. Don’t think the cider would have helped you there either. Lol. Maybe some hard cider to bribe the country music fan.
