  1. Looks well developed in chest for a 2. Lol. I don’t know. Close enough I guess.
  2. Doesn’t really matter since he ain’t getting any older but best guess, 2.5 or 3.5. I am on the fence. Thought 3 at the time but now leaning towards a good 2.5

    New PSE

So I quickly set up the new PSE evolve last night. No real tuning but set to factory specs. 28.5'DL and 71lbs. Holding weight was only 7lbs set at 90% let off. Nice being able to set DL and let off without pressing it or changing mods. It is a very smooth bow, no significant hump and huge valley. A little thump on the shot, but not overly aggressive at all. Averaged 274fps with 516g arrows for KE of 86ft lbs. Held great and at 20yds (which is all I sighted in so far) it was dangerously accurate for groups. Overall, I think its a great bow. Look forward to fine tuning it. By way of comparison, my 82lb obsession phoenix has almost identical performance but at 11lbs heavier. That says something about the evolve cams. My border recurve shoots 720g arrows at 174fps but I guess that's not a fair comparison. lol
  4. lol - yes Andrew, cheap and easy are not the things I learned from you about chasing dogs. It was fun though even if I never connected. It aint over yet! By the way, I will send you a list of suggested items you should buy for next hunt that I can "borrow"
  5. we hunt two leases and it was based on relationships with farmers. my buddy david was helping them out before they agreed to lease to him. You could try sending letters, posting in the local tractor supply and feed stores, checking craigslist or knocking on doors. Spring would likely be a better time. Its not easy around here without some prior relationship or in. Good luck Jeremy. 2hrs is a long drive for a day hunt.
  6. high makes sense .... sorry to hear you have to deal with this. sad
  7. Thanks guys. I did but one set of camo pants and a medium weight jacket. Womens mediums which were a bit big but useable. If you come across anything, just let me know.
  8. Nah. Still lots to look forward to the extent I can get out there. I get to live vicariously through phade and David when we hunt together and enjoy in their successes on one of the great bucks we have around. Both were real close to a big PY buck on opener. We celebrate the victories like a team and I look forward to that text that its time to track again. Plus, Natalie is itching to get out there with me in bow. Hopefully we will be blessed with a doe or two when hunting together.
  9. Already there slowhand. It was bad enough being tagged out before my rut vacation but now I have all season. That said, I don’t know how much time I will have out there until gun season anyways.
  10. WE have ALL been caught off guard at some point. Sounds like a fun morning and a good call not shooting when it didn't feel right. You will be rewarded with a better opportunity.
  11. I have only ever used BH209. It does burn clean and my encore is very accurate with it. Probably a bit more of a pain to load and unload.
  12. You will get some surface rust unless all of the screws are stainless (most are not). So a simple drying of the bow with a towel is all I do.
  13. Seriously Rob. Wash your feet. That's a lot of unnecessary bending over. And hanging your feet in the shed seems like a drastic remedy.
  14. This makes sense if you don't like the wet muck idea.
  15. I think Tacks idea is that it becomes an easy standard to follow and one that hunters will consider when shooting a buck - ie if you like the buck well enough to pay to get it mounted, shoot it. Obviously it doesn't help much if you don't have your bucks mounted no matter the size. In that case, your beyond the ears standard is just fine (although my only PY buck would have been below your standard with a 16" spread but I suspect obvious exceptions are made). 3, 4 6 and even 8pt don't make a lot of sense given how often we see 1.5 year old bucks that meet that standard if the goal is to let them live beyond 1.5.
  16. Step in deep muck that allows water to flow over the top and in. You won't even notice the feet smell. Like a cover scent.
  17. That was awesome to watch and Grampy sure showed some skill in almost pulling it off. Sneaking in for a shot through some thick vines and blow downs and the buck never caught him. I for sure would have fallen trying to get through that stuff in stealthy fashion. lol
  18. I did the spot and stalk with the recurve on a doe once. It is one of my more memorable hunts. Creeping through the tall grass to get in position was a blast.
