What day is opening day?
-
First year hunting I set up on one in the dark with my climber. Slid down about 5 feet fairly quickly that morning. That was enough for me to learn my lesson. It was a good spot though. lol
-
Don't use a climber on one no matter how good the spot. Ask me how I know. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
-
glysophate, a sprayer and spreader, seed and fertilizer is all one really needs. (I will estimate $200/yr per acre) I don't include the ATV costs as that is more of a toy even though I used it for plotting.

That buck would get more excited than some with bigger racks and a small body. He is a quality buck! Good luck!
-
Those stubby legs and barrel of a body - he is older. Ignore the rack. That's a tank of an old buck.
-
still a dead deer

LOL - cull no doubt, don't want those genetics passed on

I suspect they will be chopping corn soon. They did last weekend at our place. If that's the case, I would want my scent blowing into the field from the stands vs. the woods as much as is possible and access the stands whereby you are disturbing the least amount of woods possible. Morning will be tough accessing the stands from the fields if deer are feeding. Use the center hedge row to cover entry if possible. All look good for a S based wind, but on SW, I would use field edge to far east and vice versa for access. N winds will be tough no matter what I suspect but if you have no choice, stick to the side in the direction the wind is blowing. Knowing what is happening on adjacent properties outside of the pic would be helpful too.

That's one lanky buck - perhaps past his prime
-
I agree with Mr. Wolc on that one - too the decimal.
-
I would guess 2.5 on one of the 2017 bucks the other one looks like a large 1.5. This years best is difficult to tell from that photo but does have some sway to his back suggesting older than 2.5. I always play this game on the QDMA magazine and usually but not always fall in line with the "experts".

If you have been hunting stand 3, I assume you set stands 2 and 4 because you observed travel patterns there. As a general matter, where are the deer coming from and going to when observed? It may be different in morning and evening and that would play a role in how I decide to access stands and when to hunt them.

Sorry to hear it John. Prayers for your father, you and the family too.
-
Prayers for your full recovery my friend. Some don't get that second chance to do what they want to do before the next step. Take full advantage to address all those things that crossed your mind. Glad to hear you are out and getting better.

No worries Philo. We can’t have it all! A truck can be nice even without carpet, kind of.
-
Actually it’s black phenolic. Just the reflection.
-
Thanks. Will do my best Dave. Looking forward to see you knock yet another one down!
-
Congrats. Rangers are cool little trucks.

First shot a bit high and rt at 20-21 and then a few at 25-26. Second pic at 30. Little more than I like for range with the recurve. But the bareshaft looked good at 30. Those arrows drop like a rock after 25.

Happy B day Jay. Enjoy!

Prayers sent and deepest condolences.
