  1. Nice buck. We have deer all over our office park, but I suspect it would be frowned upon to let an arrow fly. lol Congrats to him.
  2. Hey Larry. Never hunted Webster for the reasons you identified. But my impression was always that Durand is just loaded. I don't know the name of the hunter. A buddy of mine sent the photo who lives next to Durand and did not mention the hunter's name, but the guy looks to be late 30s or early 40s. It was a bruiser for sure.
  3. Maybe next year, rather than a sheet, we could take a photo of the completed tag. Everyone has their phones with them anyway.
  4. I will be the first to admit that I forgot about it. No contest sheet for me as a result.
  5. Don't know if that's proper etiquette since I don't personally know the hunter. It's a dandy though. Wide and serious mass. I was more curious about how one can participate in that program. Didn't find anything online.
  6. I was just sent a text photo of a monster killed in Durand Park. Any of you ever hunt there? I thought the program was closed, but I guess not.
  7. I have heard of him, the 200yd "Buckshot Sniper" - calls into question anything he says about .... well .... anything. lol
  8. Nice buck and cool vid Sam
  9. enjoy the fruit of your labor
  10. Doesn't come carpeted but that what aftermarket is for
  11. I bought a 1 horse no name grinder suggested by Culver (sold on amazon). It has been awesome, but have only done 2 deer. Cost was around $250 and well worth it. So quick grinding. It takes much longer to clean than grind. Works great on frozen meat too. Culver's has been issue for free for a year or two I believe.
  12. The Cajun elevator - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ4kYIlCRqE Only stand I will use now because it drives Phade crazy with all the noise I make setting it up, especially on morning hunts. Plus, it requires no physical exertion whatsoever so I can keep piling the pounds on. BTW - love how it is camo so the deer never see the stand.
  13. Congrats Dan - meat in the freezer is a good thing.
  14. If you bow hunt, I would not wait until Nov. to take a crack at him. You know where he was bedded and at least one escape route. Set up on that bed with the right wind and access soon. Good luck.
  15. Big nanny doe with bow out of a ground blind. I am not sure who was more surprised, me or her. I then had the, OK what do I do now, moment. lol
  16. If a person doesn't have confidence in them, they shouldn't shoot them. Just relating my single experience with the hypo. Good luck with whatever BH you choose. A good shot with any will put the deer down.
  17. Culver, can't speak for the old rages but check out the pic I posted in the harvest thread of how the hypo tore through the ribs. I shoot a 70lbs GT-500 with 500g arrows, so it has some kinetic energy, but I was seriously impressed. I do question whether I would use these heads if I shot 50 or 60lbs or used lighter arrows because I have heard of people that got little penetration. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the arrow so I don't know if the head survived. Probably part of the cover up with the whole magic arrow thing. I did see men in three piece suits wearing earpieces searching for my arrow before I got down from the stand. lol
  18. LOL - it was the angle but yes it passed through twice, once through the cavity and then again through the opposite shoulder. Unless someone else shot at the same time. hmmm
  19. I tried the hypos this last weekend. Quartering away shot and the head broke two ribs on entry, exiting behind the opposite front shoulder reentered and exited again in front of opposite shoulder. She crashed about 30yds away after hitting about 15 trees. When we went to grab her, Phade stopped me to show me a huge piece of the lung that literally fell out before she landed in her final resting spot. I shot slick tricks last year, but it was impressive. I think shooting 500g arrows helps on pass through.
  20. You can't tag it. You can legally consign your dmps to another hunter and they can tag a doe.
  21. 10/11- this is what I love about early season even though it's tougher to get on a mature buck: Lost patience waiting for a mature buck already so I pulled the trigger on a nice big doe: And the new rage hypos did the job- she piled up quick:
