Hate to say it. but if you got lung, it should be dead by now (3 hours later). I would back out and come back later in the afternoon. Good luck.
-
Looks pretty darn old to me. I would bet 5.5 plus.

Hunted 10 days straight with no legit shot at a shooter. Great time with friends nonetheless. Shot another doe last morning so it wasn't a total loss in terms of deer. Back at work and the 30.30 is ready for Sat. Maybe Mr. Big will come by in gun. Congrats to all those that succeeded in bow (based on their personal definition of success) and look forward to more harvest photos. Keep at it folks.

You could see all of the fur flying and on the pavement. That was pretty fierce. -
Larry - I thought you were still inside for another 4-6 years. Congrats on your release!

I know someone that can crack it for you - but you will have to wait 4-6 more years.

Sounds like you are having great action. It will happen. Look forward to the photos. BTW - if you had carpeted the platform, you probably could have made a move on that shooter. Carpet goes well everywhere! -

Great buck -
I like to sing Flock of Seagulls songs loudly. They never think a Flock of Seagulls fan could be a hunter. Works every time. Sounds like you did the right thing. Better to bump them away from the stand than have them watch you climbing out of it.

I did on quite a few this year, but the finger was itchy, plus she gave me a dirty look. lol

Rage hypos have done the job this year for sure. That said, if I could only shoot one BH under all circumstances forever (ex. shooting through blind mesh) and anticipating dropping DW at some point in my life, it would be a COC head - slick trick standard.

I think what gave me pause is that the doe count is definitely down from last year but probably still better than many areas. Oh well, decision was already made. She will taste great.

Way to regain composure to finish him off!

I am just curious how many here pass does with hopes that they will draw in bucks come the rut. I am spoiled in that I hunt areas where its relatively easy to shoot does. It would be unusual for me not to have an opportunity within 2-3 sits at most. So even though I typically think I will hold off on shooting any does until after I have a buck down, I also really like venison and tend to shoot a doe early for the freezer. Yesterday, I was really debating as I wanted a second for the freezer but also wanted to hold off to keep the does for the next three weeks. Long story short, I ended up shooting a second big doe for the freezer. I am happy about having the meat but still debating whether I should have held off. How many here hold off on does with the idea it will draw the bucks in? I realize the viewpoint of many will depend on several factors including density of deer where you hunt and the hunter's priority in hunting (trophy vs. meat). In practice it seems that I will shoot one or two does until about Nov. 1 and then I won't let an arrow fly until I have a buck in the sight. I will also note that even my doe sightings drop off significantly after gun opener and that is why I have no problem taking at least one doe in early bow.

NICE!

Wow - great buck. Congrats

Welcome Lisa. Tough not to burn it out when you have only one stand. If possible, I would try to add some other options so that you are not over-pressuring that one spot. Absent that, just be sure you have the right wind for the stand and entry. Good luck.

That stinks Rick. Sorry to hear it. Sounds like you will need to kill a few more deer this year to fill the new one up.
-
Thanks Genesee but this one from last year is tough to beat:

Who knows whether we will see him while in the stand but it's fun to chase him regardless.

I get it. After dragging a big ole doe through the swamp and cornfield (almost dying of cardiac arrest) and then trying to get it hung and butchered, the thought never crossed my mind until all I had left was hanging ribs. lol. No biggie. I will have the sheet when I shoot my 200" non typical.
