  1. Honestly I would rather kill a dink or nothing than ride off another hunter's efforts and skill. Either put the time and effort into scouting, glassing, cameras, etc. or live with whatever the good Lord puts before you.
  2. I would suggest to anyone following another hunter with hopes of killing a buck - to GET A LIFE. I know it happens but how seriously sad.
  3. Be careful of the heavier clamps with the original trigger stick. It doesn't hold them so well. I bought the reaper grip and had to buy another tripod to use that head. It looks like the apex come with a clamp.
  4. Sounds like you are living the dream Jerry. Thanks for including us! Be well!
  5. Had not seen the apex. It looks really nice!
  6. The primos trigger stick tripod is very light. I have one and have used it for deer and predators. I ended up with a heavier duty tripod for predators but for occasional use (vs a rifle mounted tripod for predator hunting), the primos is great. Its pretty stable for being so light. My hunting buddy uses the BOG and likes it a lot also.
  7. After my first season when I realized how much I enjoyed hunting, the first thing I did was look for land. I didn't want to have to depend on permission, or chase leases, etc. Its a lot of wetland but nice knowing I have a place to hunt deer (lots of does and good bucks every year), predators and go shoot all fairly close to home. My total taxes are only $900/yr for 40 acres. It was worth it to me and I remain happy that I bought the land. But my investment was fairly modest. Would I spend big money to buy and on taxes yearly, probably not.
  8. Similar for sure. Regardless go get him!
  9. Sounds like the public has an easement by necessity. I will try not to put my stand too close to yours this year!
  10. I agree. I don’t think rates are going down. They are still low from a historical perspective and spending needs to be curbed to stop inflation. In the end, with my firms non qualified plan for partners, I probably have 17-18yr before even thinking about touching my retirement account so I’ll just ride it out and continue investing.
  11. I usually don’t pay attention. My primary account is vanguard aggressive but I suspect it’s less aggressive than some. Less up and down. No complaints over time however.
  12. I am down 10% from Dec 21. Not too worried though.
  13. This is a once a year event?
  14. But he can pardon drunk drivers - good news for the pelosis
  15. LOL - I think you know the practical/realistic answer to those questions.
  16. Exactly, but it is consistent the other lesson of handing out "free" money to some during COVID. Personal responsibility be damned.
  17. I find the whole concept of student loan forgiveness as a bit absurd when the rest of the country will be forced to now incur those costs. I paid my own loans (to the extent I borrowed), pay for schools via taxes that my kids don't attend and now I will have to pay for loans that others took out via my taxes. It was their decision to take the loan. Those that took the loans should pay them just like all those before them did. We have had far too many "free" handouts already that will burden future generations due to crazy national debt.
  18. You know, I haven’t asked that critical question. I hope I didn’t move too fast. Lol. As a Republican she strongly supports 2A rights and likes firearms.
  19. lol - I have heard a few comments since we started dating. No I did not cruise the local colleges.
  20. Again - thanks all for the kind words and well wishes!
  21. Thanks all from both Rocky and me. We were at Lake Wallenpaupack. It was a fun weekend. Just got home.
  22. Here is to new beginnings even at 52. So Rocky and I were set up by a mutual friend from church over a year ago and we decided to make it official in a small ceremony this weekend with a bigger “wedding” to come. After tying the knot, we spent the weekend in the Poconos. She is awesome and God was so good to bring her in my life! Deer population here is insane. They are everywhere all day long. All seem to be very small bodied. But I thought Mendon was loaded ….. And for the record, Rocky and I are closer in age than it appears (9yrs apart). She just doesn’t show her age. Lol
